I am trying to install a program on my Mac Book Pro Retina from a Apple SuperDrive. Every time I run the installer, it says I do not have enough memory to install. However, I definitely have enough memory (186.74 GB). The program takes only 550 MB. Any ideas why?
Thanks for the clarification on the terms. I consider myself proficent at my computer, but not exactly in its inner-workings! I have 8 GB of memory installed.
I am still confused as to why I do not have any space for the program. This is the exact error message I get: "There is not enough free space on Macintosh HD disk. The Print Shop 2 application requires about 550 MB to be installed. Free some disk space and try again."

When turning on my mac book pro it displays a screen with apple logo and begins loading a loading bar, after this continues to show loading circle however has been like this all day still no different. Tried turning it on and off however still same!

On start up my Mac Book Pro shows a white screen with a spinning wheel. I have tried starting up with the Snow Leopard disk - all I get is a blue screen. I guess that this is a major repair job??????
If you have the exact same problem - take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you. If you have AppleCare call them!

You should have no problem using the external optical drive. As for the external HD, you'll need to format it properly, depending on whether you want to use it with a Windows machine as well as your MacBook Pro.

I think ive just done it! I think ive been in Safari clicking file, open files, downloads - and thats where it was grey. i just went from the 'Finder' icon and was able to download its doing it now. i think i need some tuition as i dont know if i wasi n the wrong place initially but i could see the downloads just not click on them. I recently purchased a MacBook Air and was told by Apple that Keynote and Pages were compatible with MS Applications.. I have since tried to open a Powerpoint Presentation but it comes up with an error message and is not right. Help!
If there are fonts, transitions, builds, video or audio in the PowerPoint file that are not compatible with Keynote, it will either prevent the presentation opening or Keynote will substitute the settings causing playback changes.
I use Open Office to play and open any PowerPoint files sent to me, they play exactly as in PowerPoint.

Tried to watch, movie, "this means war, but couldn't get any sound working , always came up with error, also we tried to play things from you tube and iview but the icon for the apple tv wasn't there, we switched and restarted the Internet, wireless(airport ) and even restarted our iPads , but could play anything thru apple tv, even on my computer (Mac book air) the icon was there but only allowing to p,au on the MacBook air,there was no option fir apple tv, I also restarted the apple tv, still nothing working

Cheers lilianI am experiencing a similar problem in Windows 7 64bit. Since my laptop has a 128gb SSD, I have loaded my iTunes library on to an external drive. I can sync my iPhones and iPads from this library, and the songs play fine from those devices. However, when I select a song from my library, and click the play button, nothing happens. iTunes does nothing. I have also tried right-clicking mp3s in my library and selecting "Play", with no results. I do not receive an error message of any kind.
I have also noticed that some of my mp3's within iTunes denote the Time as 00:00. The same mp3's will play and register properly using other mp3 players on my computer, and they also play normally on my iPhones and iPads.
I am running Windows 7 x64 on a Lenovo T530, in iTunes 11.1.3. Everything else in iTunes appears to function normally. I can listen to internet radio stations without an issue, through iTunes, and they play as they should. I have tried three different external drives, with different drive formats, and they all have the same issue. If I copy my iTunes library back to my internal drive, iTunes will play my mp3s.
I did not have this issue with iTunes 10, so I am assuming it is something that has occured within the last few updates.
Has anyone found a fix for this? Unfortunately, I am forced to use iTunes 11 because of my iOS devices, otherwise I would revert to iTunes 10.
