Acrobat 9 Pro (not Standard) can export ("convert") PDF to Word, RTF, or other text formats.
    Click-path:  File - Export
    Take your pick.
With install of Acrobat 9 the Help PDF is installed also.
From the this PDF's Bookmarks expand Chapter 5's bookmark and select "Convert PDFs to Word".
    Be well...

I have downloaded a trail version of Adobe XI.  I tried to convert a PDF to a Word Document.  It wont let me.  Why?

Usually it is because Adobe Reader is opening, not Acrobat Pro. Be sure that the program you are using is Acrobat Pro, not the free Reader. In Acrobat Pro, File > Save As Other > Microsoft Word.

it seems my subscription had expired so I signed up again.. It was still having trouble so I repeated the sign up process again.. Then it worked perfectly.. Unfortunately, I think I just subscribed twice and need to cancel one of them. Ugh. Such a pain when I'm trying to get this project completed. I'll be canceling at least one of the subscriptions in the morning. Adobe is not my favorite company right now. None of this was intuitive. And trying to get help was an absolute waste of an hour.

  • Trying to convert a pdf to an excel file

whilst trying to convert a pdf file to editteble excel a window popped up saying an error occurred while trying to access the service....

Reader cannot convert files to PDF (this is the Reader forum).
You'll want to ask in a forum for the software you are using to convert (could be ADobe Acrobat or could be Microsoft Excel's built in convertor).

    Hi Sara
I followed your link and uploaded a file. Trying to convert this file and says the following as if it does not realize I have already paid for this conversion process:
    Adobe ExportPDF

    Subscribe Now
Subscribe and add the ability to export an unlimited number of PDF files via your browser or mobile device.
    Convert PDF to Word
Export your PDF files to editable DOC, DOCX, or RTF files.
    Convert PDF to Excel
Turn PDF files into editable XLSX files with table formatting preserved.
    Edit scanned text
With optical character recognition (OCR), even scanned text becomes editable.
    Please help.

    Hi rus-tee,
That's interesting--what are you using to convert your file to PDF? Are you using Word? Or are you using the Adobe PDF Pack online service. Please describe your process for converting to PDF, and we'll get to the bottom of this!

    Hi Sara
    From the document
When I try the file save as other, nothing happens after I click on Word or Excel Online.
There is no way I can click on the convert button on Export PDF.
I am logged in as you can see.
When I go to Cloud Acrobat I can see the file there but only as a PDF.
There is no word document there.
As you can see I have tried this more than once.
I just don’t know what to do from there.
    Hope you can help
    Many thanks
    Kaye

  • When trying to convert a pdf file into a word doc, i only get the graphics but not the text. How do i remedy this?

When trying to convert a pdf file into a word doc I only get graphics but no text. What to do?

    Hey hamsa142,
I think you are converting a scanned PDF to word.
You might need to run OCR first to make the text recognizable and then convert it to word.

  • PDF corrupted when trying to convert to PDF

I have a problem converting a file to PDF from WORD 2007.
The whole thing becomes corrupted, including: change in orientation of pages, omission of page numbers, corruption of tables...
This happens when printing to PDF, saving as PDF, trying to convert to PDF outside WORD or using an online system... When using another converter (the one that comes with my Windows System), the file is still corrupt, just slightly less so.
I think it must be a problem with the file as it doesn't happen when I try to convert other documents - but how to identify and eliminate that problem in the file? I tried to copy over to a different document, but that did not work either.
One strange thing is also that once I ask WORD to print to PDF, it actually also changes the WORD file, with changing the orientation of the first pages etc. and the numbering of tables and figures.
Urgent help required, as this is actually a scientific paper I need to resubmit today!!
    Many thanks!

This sounds like a Word issue - simply formatting for printing is doing bad things to your file. Is it possible this is just the normal reflow Word does, and you are not set up to expect it? Expect line breaks to change, and hence text to move between pages.
You may need to select the Adobe PDF printer as your default and "fix" the word document.
The page numbers - are they automatic or typed manually?

    Hi Michelle ,
We are extremely sorry that you have had a bad experience with Adobe .
As far as your issue is concerned ,Acrobat generally prompts for internet connection as it is required to activate the product before you could use it comfortably .Once the product is activated or licensed you would be able to use the software offline .
This could be the possible reason you are experiencing this .Please check if you have done so and still facing this .And if you have not ,you need to license/activate your product by typing in your credentials ,i.e Adobe ID and password .
You could also refer the following link to get updated about the activation of your product .

  • I am trying to convert a pdf file from the Government Website.

I am trying to convert a pdf file from the government site, it is a divorce petition item d008-eng.docx. Whenever I do the transcript is all over the place. Any suggestions?
I have only bought the software to do this one thing and it failed.

If you use Reader XI you should be able to save it. You should also be able to save the form with Acrobat. However, the form name you gave is a docx file, not a PDF. So it is not clear what you are asking. If it were a PDF form as I would have expected, your questions would have made more sense.
Did you buy Acrobat? If so, are you trying to convert to docx or what. I really do not understand your question. I did find an 8 page PDF of the form (assume it is the same). If you have Acrobat, just start filling it out and save at any stage. I do not see any need to convert it to docx. There are no restrictions on the form for saving or such, so I do not see why you say you can not save your input. If you bought Reader, you got ripped off. If you bought Acrobat there should be no issues with saving. If you use Reader XI there should also be no issues with saving the PDF. So, I do not see the point of your question, sorry.

    Hi there,
It sounds like there may be an issue with the quality of the PDF. Not all PDFs are created equal, and especially those created from scanned documents can be problematic if the scan quality isn't the best. Is there a dark background on the PDF, or stray marks or smudges?
You can try converting with OCR disabled at outlined in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. But, while that's a good test to find out where the problem lies, you'll end up with a Word document that isn't editable, so it's not an optimal solution.
Please let us know how it goes.

    Sara
