I am trying to download and install firefox and I get the window to click on run, I click on it and it says it is downloading and after the window closes there is no logo to click on for installation

I have tried to download several times over the past three days and the above always happens

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:

Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install

Turn off any antivirus or software security program.

You're ignoring context. On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers. I've got a similar problem. iTunes v10.2 worked fine, but when I tried to update it to 10.5 I got a 'Bonjour' error. I eventually solved that but I still couldn't upgrade to 10.5, so I deleted every single Apple, Quicktime, iTunes, etc file on my PC using Revo Unistaller (because the normal Windows Add/Delete programs wouldn't work) but now, when I install the latest iTunes version from scratch (on XP SP3), it says: "the installer encountered errors before it could be configured.... your system has not been modified"
Any ideas?

It shows up in a "download" window, then the icon shows up on my desktop. When I click on it to launch it, it says "open with" and I get the same "save/cancel" window. It's a continuous circle. What application are you choosing to open the files with?
Because of how integrated it is with windows IE should work. If it's not working, something more widespread could be wrong with your computer that would also prevent other browsers from working properly. Of course we'd love you to stick with Firefox, but you should get help with IE, too.

I have Wondows Vista... I tried to upgrade to Itunes 10.5, and received an error orginially stating that I was trying to install a version older than the one I had. I have been in touch with Apple support in reference to my problem. We went through every solution available, and found no fix. The tech then suggested I contact Microsoft concerning this issue. I thought that suggestion was just to get me pointed somewhere but Apple. Boy was I wrong!! I contacted Microsoft, and was directed to a free download called Microsoft Fix. This program fixed something in the regisitor, and wala everything was fixed!! I now have I-Cloud and I-Tunes loaded and working well. So, if you can't install Apple Software and are running Window 7 you might give Microsoft Fix a try, it fixed my problem.....

I know there's a million threads like this, but I thought I'd record my experience. I, too, was having the original poster's error when I tried to update iTunes on Windows XP. I think I was stuck on 10.
I solved it by un-installing iTunes and every other Apple app. I discovered that Apple Software Update would not un-install as its MSI file could not be found. I used the "Windows Install Cleanup" tool from Microsoft to remove Apple Software Update from the list of installed programs. Google "kb290301" for a Microsoft page that includes a download link for it. After that, I was able to install a fresh copy of iTunes 10.5.2.
I'm not sure why this app's folder and MSI were missing from my computer. I had once used Laplink PC Mover to move everything from my old computer to this one, and perhaps it missed a bit.
