I think Apple have shot themselves in the foot as they say. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS SELLING HARDWARE AND THE DEVELOPERS WHO DONT SUPPORT THEIR PRODUCTS AS SOON AS YOU BUY ONE THEN THATS BAD LUCK AS THEY SAY. I have 1st Generation IPAD and I can not get apps to download because of the non-availablilty of iOS6. If it wasnt so serious I would say its an absolute Joke.
The answer to your question is plain as day. Why should they do anything? You just have to keep spending money to keep up with Technology. HELLO! Its called CORPORATE GREED. Well they have lost me as a future customer. I WILL BUY A HYBRID NEXT TIME THAT SUPPORTS OLDER OPERATING SYSTEMS. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! On you APPLE.

I tried to download ios6 and my ipad will not turn on at all.

Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I tried to download ios6 onto my ipad 2 but it failed.
So this morning i tried to download iOS 6 onto my iPad 2.
It was downloading fine but then once it finished, it turned itself off.
I gave it a few minutes, thinking it was just rebooting itself and then after ten minutes when nothing had happened i held down the lock button to turn it on again.
Then a screen came up showing the usb cable pointing to the itunes symbol.
So i plugged it into my computer and tried to connect it to my itunes.
A message popped up saying that itunes couldn't connect with a ipad in recovery mode and that i would have to restore it. But by restoring it, i have to lose everything that is on there which is like 11GB of pictures, music and apps.
Do i really have to lose everything? or is there something i can do?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE helpTry temporarily disabling your firewall and security software and see if the download will complete.

itunes freezes up with no error message. Previous to this, I downloaded ios6 for iphone and that failed as well. The iphone is frozen too. Any ideas?

if I remember correctly the error code -1 indicates a hardware problem. In that case, you should take your iPhone to an Apple store and have them do some diagnostics.

I have an Iphone 5 6.01. I have a notice on my app store that I have an update. Tried to update, but it won't. Connected to Itunes and tried to download update for App. I can't do that either. It won't let me update any of the apps. What is wrong?
My husband and I are using the same iTunes account on all mac & pc computers, but the libraries are different on each machine. We always manually manage our music (no auto sync). iTunes is up to date on the PCs. My husband uses our joint iTunes account on his pc, but once again, has a different collection in his library from those on the other machines. He can't load any music from his PC to his iphone 4. I can load music from my mac library to my iphone 4s, but cannot load from my pc library to my iphone 4s. How can I switch my main library that it syncs with from the mac to the pc?

iPad keeps saying iOS 5.1.1 is "up to date" -- yet trying to download iOS6 -- any suggestions? Have tried "settings" on the iPad, which continues to say 5.1.1 is up-to-date, and have sync'd with iTunes, which also says the iOS 5.1.1 is up-to-date.
No, the ipad first gen. will be getting no more updates. Its no longer available in the apple store.
Unfortunately, if you wish to use apps or features that require iOS 6, you'll need at least the ipad 2 -
When I tried to download it onto my iPad it doesn't show up in my downloads. So I found the book and clicked to buy it again as I have seen this happen with apps before. I clicked buy and it gave me a message. You have already purchased this book but it isn't available for redownload do you want to purchase this book again?
This is frustrating to me because had I known this I would have never purchased it on my iPhone. I always read off my iPad.
Also if this is the case why doesn't it say somewhere. ALERT. This is a one download only book!

If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. -

as it says above, i have been trying to download apps for my new ipod touch but all that keeps happening is it saying the following

anyone help or should i go back to the shop and exchange it.

thanksIt looks like you have a 1G iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3, which is the latest version of iOS that is compatible with that model. If if it's actually a 2G iPod Touch, you should be able to update it to iOS 4.2.1 at most.
Either way though, if the App requires a high version of iOS than what is possible on your iPod Touch, then I'm afraid you are out of luck.

Was your phone jailbroken or unlocked by someone other than the carrier it was originally locked to before you updated? If so, it's now permanently bricked.
If this is not the case, you should be able to force restore in Recovery Mode:

I have a new iPod Touch and am trying to download photos for the first time. Both iPhoto & Image Capture recognize the device but don't seem to recognize the photos, or at least I can't import them. Nothing happens when I click on anything in either.
If you manually open iPhoto do you not see the photos?

Yu are trying to impoort photos taken by or saved to the iPod, right? If the photos were synced to the iPod then iPhot does not work. -
