I am trying to edit in Elements from Lightroom. When I follow the steps: Photo, Edit In, Elements 11, nothing happens. The screen asking if I want to edit with Lightroom adjustments is supposed to pop up. What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it?

No, it's just that adobe makes it really hard to find the actual editor in the mac version. It's in applications>adobe photoshop elements 11>Support Files, not the logical file at the top level of the folder:

Using MUSE CC 2014
I need to place photoshop images of text (with transparency) over a full screen slide show but I'm getting edge artefacts around the lettering which looks, well frankly, horrible. I don't recall previous versions of MUSE being quite as bad as this, am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick to overcome these ugly artefacts?

I was dropping a pds file onto the stage. No other layers than image and transparent bg. I was scaling the image down in Muse which as I've discovered exaggerates the visibility of the image edge artefacts. After doing a bit of reading it appears this is a known problem with Adobe Muse, something to do with the algorithms Muse uses to scale images. I also think the colour of the layer contributed a little to the effect also.
Problem solved when I ditched the PSD route and instead imported the image SS as a PNG. -
My IPAD software update is avail for the iOS 7.0.3 I keep trying to install it. I have my IPAD hooked up to my MAC and the Wi FI, I have internet open It keeps telling me not connected to internet. What am I doing wrong.
You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists. -
Just started using apple mail. Trying to set up email folders with example: Company/Company P.O. It won't let me do it. It will not allow / or . . What am I doing wrong or can this not be done. Thanks in advanceOften, this error message means that you have used some version of Nikon software to transfer the photos to your computer, and this has corrupted the files. There is a fix which uncorrupts the files at http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html
But you said you get this message when you "connect my other camera Nikon D3100", the key word being "connect", and this doesn't really fit the description I just gave. This error message normally happens after you have transferred the photos to your computer via Nikon software, not when you connect it. So ... maybe you need to explain a little more ... what exact task (what menu options, what are you clicking on, what are you trying to do) when you get this error. -
I am using an apple TV to show a slide show which is sent via WiFi from a mini computer. The slide show repeats for a few hours and then stops and shows "no signal". What's going on… and how do I get the show to cycle indefinitely? (I have set the server to NEVER sleep)

or when i am saving the file to JPEG?Basically you're approaching this the wrong way around. What you need is the extreme sections to be quieter, not louder. The problem with moving the lower end of the audio is that you'll move the noise floor too, and get what's generally referred to as a 'pumping' effect. So what you do is to use a compressor to tame the peaks, and leave the lower level sound alone. When you've done that, you amplify (or normalize to a level you can determine) the whole signal. So the noise floor will be higher, but constant and not pumping. 'Match Volume' is a completely different tool for setting the overall levels of different tracks so that they sound approximately the same - it doesn't even begin to do what you want.
If it's music you are treating, then I'd almost certainly use the multiband compressor, because you get less artefacts with this. You need to experiment with the threshold levels, and almost certainly not use a massive compression ratio - 3:1 or 4:1 should be sufficient (although it's hard to tell without actually hearing the audio). You can tell what it's doing at any given point because the downward meter indicates how hard it's working. In theory you can apply make-up gain with it as well, but personally I leave that until everything's treated and use the 'Normalize' tool to set an absolute max level. -

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.

You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Ignore any other messages that appear in the Terminal window.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal. -

Yes. The battery appears to be shot and in need of a replacement. This can either be done by Apple or a third party repair company.

If Lion isn't showing in the About this Mac window, then you need to install it. All the Mac Apple Store does is put the installer into /Applications. You need to run it, but before you do, make a copy and put it somewhere else, since the stupid installer deletes itself during the installation process, forcing another obnoxious and lengthy download if you ever need to reinstall it.
