This happens wheter I try to factory reset from windows (starting the hp recovery manager and rebooting the pc), or I press f11 as soon as I power on the pc.
I dont know how to solve this situation. The pc is unusable and i need to factory reset it.

        MrMJG,
Let's get your phone back up and running. Have you been able to try to press and hold the volume down and the power button at the same time for approximately 10 seconds? The phone should reboot for you. Is there any kind of physical or liquid damage to the device? Please keep me posted.

  • Trouble trying to factory reset from recovery (D:) drive

    Hey,
I'm in a bit of a predicament.  The Vista cd key on the bottom of the laptop has, of course, worn away and is mostly unreadable at this point and it was never written down.  Also, there were never any recovery DVDs burned and I am no longer able to boot into windows so burning them now is not an option.
I've tried to use the recovery D: drive to do a factory reset/re-install of Vista.  It seems to work most of the way- it does the step where it is formatting the C: drive, and copying files.  It then reboots and it sort of looks like it is starting to re-install Vista but then at some point I get an error along the lines of "the NLS files are missing".  So it seems like the recovery drive isn't quite right.
My first thought was to see if HP still provided recovery DVDs for a small fee, but of course they seem to be discontinued (laptop is a Pavilion dv4-1435dx with Vista premium home 64-bit).
It seems like my 3 options going forward are:
    1) pay upwards of $100 for a new copy of Vista (really makes me angry that I would be buying something I already bought...)
    2) try to buy a recovery disk from a 3rd party retailer (I'm afraid to do this as some of them seem to suggest I would need my own cd key at some point, which again is not readable off the bottom of the laptop).
    3) pray that there is some way to get the recovery D: drive to work as it should.
I'm hoping someone here can help me persue option 3).  I don't understand why the D: partition isn't working as it should- I mean, it's there to do exactly what I am trying to get it to do!  Is it common for the D: partition to just not work?  If so, it seems like that and the combination of easily worn cd keys on the bottom of laptops is a pretty shoddy product from HP...
If 3) is a no go, does anyone have experience with 3rd party recovery discs?  Do they require a cd key to be input even if they are being used on a laptop that has one of these pre-installed licenses and are just doing a factory reset?
Thanks for any and all help!

I've just been assured by a rep at their website that this will work for me:
    http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-17082-recovery-kit-578918-001-for-hp-model-number-dv4-1435dx.aspx
They claim that the cd key will be automatically read from the MOBO so I will not have to manually type it in during installation.
I guess ~$30 is the price I will pay for not having recovery discs burnt when I still had access to windows.

  • Trying to factory reset my laptop

Hello, I am trying to reset my laptop to factory settings, I watched a video by HP on how to do so, and I followed it, went to the HP recovery manager and went to click 'system recovery' and saw this "system recovery restore your computer to its original factory condition (disabled: recovery partition is removed)" I'm not sure why it wont let me, I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an HP-2000 laptop, any help would be appreciated, also yes, I have my personal files saved to a flashdrive, thank you

    Hi,
It clearly says "(disabled: recovery partition is removed)" that means at one point you or someone else remove the Recovery partition. You have to contact HP to order a set of dics's.

  • Trying to factory reset

i am trying to do a reset , sold the laptop and would like to wipe it clean , i followed the steps but i get partition file not found ,

    Hello @zicarofam,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your notebook is displaying an error message that the "partition file is not found", and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Since the error indicates that the RECOVERY Partition has either been removed or corrupted, I recommend acquiring new recovery media by following this document on Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive. Once you have obtained the necessary recovery discs, you can use this resource on Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7).
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Trying to factory reset an Iphone 6..

This phone was dropped in the water...and instead of waiting for it to "dry-out", I purchased another for my daughter. Well, now that it's working...I would like to use it for myself.  The problem: well, she forgot the e-mail associated with the I-tunes account for this phone and also the password.  Was told if I can't get into that account...the phone is useless! She has a new I-tunes account with her new phone...is there anyway to access, or find out any info through the new one?

    Basically, yes.

You may also have some luck if you have the original receipt. Apple may be willing to unlock it for you.

  • E3200 quit working, I already tried factory reset, out of ideas...help please?

I've had the E3200 for 3 weeks now and it has been running perfectly until last night. It's broadcasting its SSID and when I open network properties on my computer, it says I'm connected to the internet. However, when I troubleshoot with windows and cisco connect they both recognize that I'm not connected to the internet. Tried with 2 other laptops, an andriod phone, and an iphone with the same results. I live in an apartment building and the only thing we need to set up is a router for wifi (modem   connection is taken care of in the basement) so there's no issues with a modem because the other tenants have internet, and when I connected my laptop directly to the wall I had internet access so I'm pretty certain it's an issue with the router. I tried a factory reset and went through the installation again but had the same result as before. I called customer support but they had me on hold until I had to leave for class. HELP PLEASE!

You may need to reconfigure the router. What is the IP address that your computer is getting if it’s directly connected to the wall? If using the setup cd to reconfigure the router didn’t work, try doing it manually. These links will guide you thru in doing the reconfiguration manually: Setting up a Linksys router with Cable Internet service & Setting up a Linksys router for DSL Internet connection.

  • Did a Windows 7 reinstall, now I can't factory reset to get drivers (p775)

My satellite p775 bricked after randomly restarting it last week. I tried to factory reset it but it hung up several times during the reset. So I took somewhere to be assessed and it was determined that the problem was a software malfunction. I had a fresh Windows 7 reinstalled and now it works perfectly.
However, I don't have any of my drivers. I figured I could factory reset it now without problem to install all those drivers again but when I go to do it, I don't have the option. I went on Toshiba's website to download the drivers manually but I don't know where to start. I'm not the most computer savy person. I wanted to factory reset it because it's easier and it installs all the drivers I was used to having before it bricked. Any advice?

Hi! I know what you mean. I really like all the Toshiba features. I have used my recovery CD's (5 of them) to restore back to factory one time. It worked pretty much without a glitch. I think I had to eject and reinsert one of the CD's, but it went back to factory and everything restored back to factory settings. I sense then have created a flash drive with factory restore on it. Haven't had the need to use it, but makes me feel good knowing I have it in a drawer I guess if you want the Toshiba restore to factory, you will have to order it from Toshiba. I supplied the link in my first reply. We learn from our mistakes and some times we have to pay the price. I'm very happy with my Toshiba PC. I joined this forum to pass forward what I have learned about my Toshiba. Good luck. The CD's will cost you 30$ shipping

  • Help Factory Resetting!!

Hello, Recently i have tried to factory reset my Compaq Pressario PC SR5710Y. Every time it gets to 48% a message appears saying "error 1005. If the error persist contact HP Support" and im wondering what can i do about this problem.

Hello jack867!: since you can't get your machine's recovery past 48%
hopefully you either have Master Recovery media ordered from HP
    2. Made Recovery Media from Recovery Manager included in the computer
try again by detaching all your hardware that's attached except your rodent & keyboard & follow what you see on your screen
because it's likely that the partition is damaged
in c.40 minutes you should have a normal desktop
immediately run scandisk  to see if there's no latent HD issues lurking
    3.  if you own a full fledged retail copy of Windows in addition to doing the aformentioned
go to the Web page pertaining to the model model & download all the drivers that are part of your computer following what ever you see on the web bage
    good luck
    hope this helps
