I am trying to find my Lightroom files

I am trying to find my Lightroom files, I unpluged my hard drive and plugged it back in
Ron

I am going to assume that you are working on some version of Windows (am I right?) and that now the external drive has a different file letter than it had before.
You can use these instructions to fix the problem http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm, or have Windows re-assign the previous drive letter to the drive.
In the future, it would be helpful for you to state your operating system and state your version of Lightroom any time you ask a question so we don't have to guess

  • Trying to find a library file in Lion

    I'm trying to troubleshoot a kernal panic and am really struggling to find the following file which may be the culprit:
    com.iospirit.driver.rbiokithelper               1.8.0
    From a seperate thread I have read that the user library is hidden by default in Lion. Is this the likely location of the above file because in the library/preferences I can find on my HDD no such file exists? I only have one administrator user (me) set up on my machine. How do I reveal the user library?

    In the Finder, hold the option (or alt) key and click on the Go Menu

  • How do I exclude directories from Finder search results? I'm trying to find the biggest FILES on my computer and it keeps showing me "Macintosh HD" as the biggest, how can I search for files of type "NOT folder/directory"?

    Basically I've lost 10GB of free space over the last few weeks so my plan was to search for files modified in the last 2 weeks in order to figure out which ones are big and where that space went.
    So I open finder, go to "File > Find", and enter a search:
    Modified > In the last 2 weeks
    All fine so far.
    Problem is, it's showing whole directories as results. Which essentially means that when I order the list by size, Macintosh HD is at the top, followed by "Users", then "Applications", then one of my bigger movie files, then "Library", etc.
    How can I do a search which will ignore folders? I want individual files. Knowing that Macintosh HD is the biggest item on my computer and was modified in the last 2 weeks is utterly useless to me.
    Older versions of Finder in OS 9 had a feature where you could search for "files, whose type "IS NOT" folder", but OS X doesn't seem to have such a feature.
    Can anyone help?

    How much free space is on the HD, where has all the space gone?

  • Trying to find mysterious 23GB file increase

    While I was out at work today, my Library seems to have increased from 45GB to 68GB, meaning that suddenly I'm bumping up against the limit of my available RAM (though I thought I had way more than 20GB left to play with). I can't even Time Machine my way out of this, as I don't have enough available RAM to overwrite with the older, smaller Library.
    So: how do I search to find out what has ballooned so grotesquely in my Library? I spent quite a while opening individual files in it (800KB, 300KB etc) before realising that I could keep doing that all night without necessarily hitting the answer.
    I set up a Finder Find window and told it to look for files modified within the last day, making sure that System files were included. All it found were a couple of innocuous downloaded documents from this morning before I went to work, and I've verified that they're not problematic. It reckons no System files have changed, though the size of the Library suggests that that's not accurate.
    (I ran Clamxav last night, which told me that my machine contains five viruses -- BUT they're all safely quarantined in old unopened emails, and it recommended leaving them well alone.)
    How do I find out which file(s) grew or multiplied in my absence, if the Finder search that I described failed to do so? I'm really at a loss here.
    Thanks in advance for any advice that anyone can give me.

    This was extremely useful and I have bookmarked it, although in the event I didn't need its more in-depth advice for this issue. I didn't previously know about Show View Options/Calculate All Sizes, and as soon as that was switched on the problem was revealed -- a glitch in Mac Mail that was creating bogus "recovered messages" at 51.4MB a time. I've deleted them and my memory is restored. Thanks for the tip!

  • Launching Difficulty, DVDSP trying to find purposely deleted file

    I recently deleted some .mov files from my external drive to free some space. Since then, I have been unable to work in DVDSP because as soon as it launches, a window pops up that reads, "Searching for movie data in file "Horses_1". When I push the provided "Stop" button it then pops up a window that reads, "The movie file 'horses_1' can not be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly."
    I can do nothing in the program because these two windows keep popping back up, despite me clicking "Cancel". I trashed that file on purpose. It is not needed for any present or future projects.
    How do I get around this and able to work in DVDSP again? And how do I clear the video tab of the palette so it doesn't do it with other deleted files?
    Suggestions welcome, Didn't mean to be so lengthy but wanted to be comprehensive, Thank You.
    2 GHz MacBook Pro 15" 2 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   FC Studio

    Usually, a missing Quicktime file will allow you to click cancel, open the project, and remove the asset from the item that uses it.
    However, you are getting the "without this file the movie cannot play properly" message - this means that you have created a Quicktime reference movie and removed the media file referenced by that movie. ("Make Self-Contained" was uncheked at the time you exported this movie.) In this case, the reference movie has been imported to DVDSP and is not officially "missing", but Quicktime is generating this error when it tries to relink to the media referenced by the quicktime reference movie.
    You can move, rename, or delete this reference movie. You might as well delete it, since the media for it is now gone. Once the reference movie, which the acutal asset in your DVDSP Project, is gone, DVDSP should follow it's normal behavior for a missing asset, and allow you to click cancel and open the project.

    Hello iMuppet2,
    Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    It appears that your PC is not recognizing your iPhone 4s as a camera when you connect it.
    You may find the troubleshooting steps in the "Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8" section of this article helpful with getting your PC to recognize the iPhone:

  • I'm trying to find the pdf files that I downloaded on my ipad3.

    i downloaded from tpt--a teaching website. i am sure they downloaded because a yellow bar appeared across the top of my screen. i have both acrobat reader and ibooks but the files are not there....

    You have to manually save the files into one of this apps when you download a PDF from Safari. You can tap and hold down on the open PDF file when it is on the screen and a button pops up - the Open In button. You have to select the app that you want to save the file into. There should be a button in the upper right corner of the open PDF than says Open In. If you do not see it - tap on the screen while the PDF is opened and it should appear.

  • I have an iphone 4S and I'm trying to find an audio file that was texted to me 10 months ago. Every time I try to "Load Earlier Messages", I can only get a few months deep before the Messages App crashes and I have to start from scratch. Any help?

    Thank you all for any assistance.

    You're welcome.  Do you have a backup that was done just after that text was sent?
    There are some 3rd party programs that can extract your messages.  Here are two that may work...

  • Imovie continually tries to find deleted files

    I deleted several clips from imovie (7.1.4) and now when trying to open imovie it gets hung-up continually trying to find the deleted files. I have emptied the project folder and still it searches for the deleted files. How do  get it to stop trying to find the deleted files?

    Try deleting iMovie's preferences file. With iMovie closed, in Finder go to your User (Home) folder Library/Preferences. Locate a file named "com.apple.iMoviexx.plist" where xx represents the version number. I can't recall the exact .plist name for version 7.1.4, which is iMovie '08, but for iMovie '09 it's iMovie8, and for iMovie '11 it's iMovieApp (that is, "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist").
    Drag the appropriate .plist file to the trash. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh file with the default settings, which you can change if desired in iMovie's menu (iMovie>Preferences).
    Deleting the preference file sometimes helps when iMovie is not performing as it should. Deleting the file will not damage any of your Events or Projects.

  • Finding and Renaming Files

    I am trying to fix a bunch of file names by adding the appropriate extension based on file type.
    I had downloaded a bunch of images from my webserver and noticed the '.jpg' or '.gif' got cut off because the file names were too long.
    So, I want to locate all Files of Type 'JPEG', for example, then filter by those whose name or name extension are missing the '.jpg' on the end, and simply add that to the file name.
    The problem is Automator can't seem filter these files and perform the desired action on them. Every time, and every which way I've tried, it finds ALL the files, with and without the .jpg at the end.
    I have:
    Filter files by File Type is JPEG Image File
    Name Does not contain '.jpg'
    (I've tried Name Extension does not contain 'jpg' too - same result)
    Any suggestions?

    Renaming a file to add an extension is fine, if you know what the file type is to begin with. Since the file was downloaded from a web server, there may not be any Finder info or other metadata to determine what the type is, so you would need to look at the file data and make a guess. There is a built-in shell script that tries to determine a file's type, and some of the more common types (such as text, jpeg, and gif) are checked for. The following Run AppleScript action uses that to try to guess what the file type is and filters accordingly:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #FFDDFF;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into an Automator 'Run AppleScript' action">
    on run {input, parameters} -- find file types
    try to determine file types using the 'file' shell script and filter accordingly
    input: a list of Finder items (aliases) to filter
    output: a list of Finder items (aliases) filtered
    set output to {}
    set FileType to (choose from list {"JPEG", "GIF", "PDF", "RTF"} with title "Filetype Filter" with prompt "Select a type to filter:")
    if the result is false then error number -128
    repeat with AnItem in the input -- step through each item in the input
    tell application "Finder"
    if (name extension of AnItem) is "" then
    do shell script "file -b " & quoted form of POSIX path of (AnItem as text)
    if the result contains FileType then set the end of the output to (AnItem as alias)
    end if
    end tell
    end repeat
    return the output -- pass the result(s) to the next action
    end run
    </pre>
    Tested workflow:
    1) Ask for Finder Items (Type: folders)
    2) Get Folder Contents
    3) Run AppleScript (the above script) -- choose JPEG or whatever the file type is
    4) View Results
    5) Rename FInder Items (Add Text - Add: .jpg after name) -- or whatever the extension should be

  • Why does lightroom 5 do not read or can't find my raw files when I'm trying to import my images from my camera to light room

    It just started happening out of the ordinary. I had a photo shoot done today. I came home plugged my camera usb to my mac lap top and tried to import my raw files as i usually do into light room 5 to edit my images. This time the same error message popped up stating it couldn't read or my files weren't found over and over again. Neither the new ones nor the old pictures was able to import them. Please Help!

    I just bought Lightroom and have the same problem - MacBook Pro with OS X 10.10.1. LR actually displays the photos properly when previewing but fails when starting the import. Also, a couple of times it would start but would hang up. I think it may be a Yosemite problem. I was having trouble importing with Aperture too. The fail message from LR was:
    The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (6)
        IMGP7941.JPG
        IMGP7942.JPG
        IMGP7944.JPG
        IMGP7943.JPG
        IMGP7945.JPG
        IMGP7946.JPG
    I can copy the folder from the camera to my desktop and then import. That works but of course I shouldn't have to do that.

    Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
    First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
    Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
    When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
    I hope this helps, because it was incredibly frustrating. Good luck!
