I am trying to install Firefox, but I keep getting close forefox before I continue how do I close.
When I get to a certain point in the installation of Firefox it says Firefox must be closed to continue.I don't want to quit the installation so how do I close without quitting?
You run Windows in Parallels or Fusion. Then in Windows you install the program.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

I am trying to install firefox and l can't get pass setup type on the type of setup whih is standard and then it tells me to close firefox so it can proceed with installation, when l do, it ask me do l want to cancel installation, if l say no then it tells me again to close firefox.
I want to make sure you're using the auto-update system, because that's the safest most reliable way to go, and it shouldn't appear in the download manager, so I lets make sure you're doing it right. <br/>
This is a screencast I made a couple of years ago. It refers to 3.5 and 3.6, but the steps are still the same: http://ilias.ca/screencasts/ISUHD45.mov
If that doesn't work, then maybe your Snow Leopard account doesn't have permission to update applications? -
Firefox has stopped working. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still will not work. It tells me that it installed successfully but when I launch it I get a window that says, "Failed to read the configuration file." and it will not open. Please help.
Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I was asked to upgrade Firefox using the Yahoo version and that is whne the problem started. I cannot remove Firefox or use it.
Try these locations:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
(%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates
"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders, use %APPDATA% in the File name field
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders -
Tried to install Firefox but an error message "Extraction failed - cannot open output file" always pops up, without a reason. Why's this happening?
Try to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes it work.
You may need to delete the temp folder (%TEMP%) to remove the old files. -

I have a 2011 MBP running Mountain Lion. Tried to install Mavericks, but it keeps telling me " cannot install Mavericks because disc is used for Time Machine backup". I tried disabling TM by issuing the command in console " sudo tmutil disable local". Still no luck. Is there a way of erasing all the time machine backups from my system disc?
Thanks.Thanks Matt. I tried erasing the "Backups.backupdb" folder. It does not allow me to do that, inspite of "sudo"-ing. I ended up installing Mavericks on another disc, and use disc migration assistant to transfer my data, before swapping out the old disc from the MBP.

I keep trying to load firefox 6 and keep getting this error - The requested URL /cse?cx=partner-pub-3540673482024757:xbhdw8hkfz5&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=&sa=Search was not found on this server. That’s all we know. in English

Download the '''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Mozilla Search Reset]''' {web link}
This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up
and then resets your search preferences and home page
to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This
affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

* [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]

Firefox not only disappears from my dock but also from my Applications folder. I tried to downl0ad it again today (5/19/2011), however, it says my system isn't compatible because I don't have an Intel processor. Any suggestions. I have problems with Safari and like to use Firefox but can't if it keeps disappearing and then Mozilla tells me that I can't install after I have already downloaded the application.
