I am trying to pair my iphone 5 with an iphone 4 using bluetooth, neither phone recognises the other-Why?
Can somebody please help me: I have recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5, I want to transfer my pictures from my new phone from the old phone using bluetooth. However, neither phone recognises the other-Why Not? I can pair my iPhone 5 with my Ford S-Max easily but cannot pair with my old phone. I would really appreciate somebody telling me what, if anything, I am doing wrong. Although just switching on bluetooth is easy. Both phones continually show 'searching' but do not actually find one another even though they are side by side. Any help would be much appreciated.
This has never been a feature of the iphone,ipod touch or ipad.
File transfer is not supported.
Iphone supports bluetooth for stereo headsets/speakers, handsfree telephone devices/headsets, some keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store, adn internet tethering where provided by the carrier.
Other than this it will not connect to another phone, computer ,device

Do you mean Bluetooth?
If you are trying to activate your iPhone you need to use iTunes.
There's no need to "pair" an iPhone with a Mac. Syncing, restoring, backing up, apps/ music / photos etc., is all done with iTunes. -

An iPad and iPhone cannot connect via Bluetooth unless you are trying to use a Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone or have one of the few third-party apps that allow limited file transfer or device-to-device gaming. Unless you're attempting one of these, then any previous "pairing" was probably illusory. If you are trying to use such a thing, tell us which one and someone may be able to provide suggestions.

I'm trying to pair my new iMac with Nokia 302 so that I can transfer 202 contacts to iPhone! All my Apple devices pair but the Nokia once acknowledging the apiring closes the connection with message "service not allowed on device" presumably the iMac etc. So what else should I try?
I tried resetting the ipad, switched off wifi, checked date and time.

I found a couple of resources that have steps to troubleshoot issues with connecting your iPhone with a car stereo.
I recommend reviewing the section titled "Features and app interaction>Bluetooth" in the following article:

I also recommend following these steps:
Unable to find nearby Bluetooth accessories
If a pairing record already exists, the device does not appear as discoverable. Try to connect the device using that pairing record.
If you are unable to connect using the existing pairing record, delete the record and pair again.
Ensure that the firmware or software on the Bluetooth accessory is up to date.
Ensure that the Bluetooth accessory is charged or connected to power.
Verify that the Bluetooth accessory is using a profile that works with the iOS device.
Turn off both the iOS device and the Bluetooth accessory, then turn both devices on again.
If the issue persists, test Bluetooth with another device or consult the manufacturer's documentation.

I am trying to update my Iphone 3 and when i get to the activation step after a few minutes it shows a message that says " Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try conenecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes.
