I am trying to sample 2khz signal at 8khz,with an accuracy upto 6place of decimal ,using pci 1200 DAQ card.

how can i externally trigger this operation.i need to sample my signal at 4 points and store it in a excel sheet and the values should be same,as the the 2khz signal and the 8 khz signal both are comming from the same source.

could u tell me what more details would be required....i will be more than glad to let u know about it.

  • What is the maximum number of samples that can be acquired with a single trigger using PCI-6036E DAQ card?

    1. My PCI-6036E card has a FIFO of 1024 bytes in AI. Maximum how many samples can be acquired with single trigger for digitizing a waveform?
    2. PCI-6036E DAQ card has got a AO with 10ks/s update rate? Can I generate a pulsed output with the AO of this card? I need a pulse of, say, 5 V and 1 kHz frequency.

    Giri,
1.The trigger is usually for enabling the acquisition. I mean, when it is logic zero, you acquire nothing; however, when it is logic one, you start acquiring your waveform, and you can acquire continuously without having to worry about how many samples, unless you want to set your program for doing so. You can acquire continuously by implementing buffer acquisition. Finally, the FIFO that is in the board will not affect the buffer acquisition.
2.Yes, you can do that! You can generate your 5V signal with that specific frequency, and you should not have any problems, because the freq fits in the update rate.
I hope this information is helpful.

  • PCI-6023E DAQ card maximum sampling frequency

    Hello
I am using PCI-6023E DAQ card in pc-based ETS solution (and writing appilication in LabView 7.1 with RT module). The card has 200kS/s maximum sampling frequency, but it can be set for much higher sampling frequencies and the waveform acquired appears to be correct (i.e. i've tried setting it fo 1MS/s and sampling 400kHz sine, which is obviously above Nyquist frequency for 200kS/s card, but on spectral graph, main peak is at 400kHz). Is the card driver doing some kind of free/coherent sampling?
Moreover, when sampling frequency is set to 200kS/s, the card seems to be doing same thing - i.e. for 200kS/s and sample block size of 200kS, graph should be updated once in a second, but it's updating slighty slower.
I'd really appreciate if someone could explain me (or gave me a link to materials) what exactly is happening here? Is driver doing some background work, or maybe it is problem with network latency/unstability ? What is the impact of this effect on real-time aquisition?
    Thanks in advance
    Jan Kienig

Since the fundemental is 4 times the nyquist, then what you are measuring is an alias of the fundemental. This works well as long as the fundemental is a repetitive signal. Sampling every other peak and every other node looks the same as sampling every peak and node. Tektronix exploited this on their 7S series sampling heads. Another use of this phenomena is the effective demodulation of high frequency signals as long as the bandwidth meets nyquist. As with your card, if the input amplifier supported it, I could extract modulation information from a 500 MHz signal so long as the the bandwith of that modulation did not exceed 100 kHz.

  • Low sample-rate measurements on the PCI-6115 DAQ card

I need to measure an analog signal at a sampling rate of a few tens to hundreds of Hz in sync with the rising edge of an external clock. I have a PCI-6115 DAQ card w/ Labview 6.1 and NI-DAQ 6.9.2. The PCI-6115 is a high speed card and has a minimum sample rate of 10 KS/s. Is there any way of implementing a low sampling rate measurement using the PCI-6115 in sync with an external clock?
    Thanks in advance.

    Kuldeep,
It is possible to do what you are describing above (in fact I don't think an external clock is required to do this), however, bear in mind that the reason for this minimum sampling frequency is due to the ADCs used on this high speed board. The ADCs used are pipelined ADCs, meaning that when a signal is digitized, it is digitized in distinct stages within the ADC (in the case of the 6115, I think there are 3 stages involved). Data is moved from one stage of the ADC to the next each time a sample clock pulse is recieved. If too much time elapses between these clock edges, the signal to be digitized can actually 'leak' off of the ADC. This can result in improper digitization, which can lead to less accurate measurements. So, while it is possible to mak
e the device sample below it's minimum rate, it may be advisable to sample faster than the rates required by your application, and either average multiple data points per measurement, or throw away extra points taken.
    I hope this helps,

I used pxi 6071E daq card to acquire 115v 400hz AC signals.when I use mutichannel scan function,I find that the voltage of waveforms have much more error. The voltage error is about 0~15v.please you can tell me why this happened?how to solve it.

    Sunny;
As you are scanning multiple channels and the signal range is high, you can try to set the interchannel delay a little higher. The interchannel delay is the time which the multiplexer will take to switch to the next channel. If that time is to short, the instrumentation amplifier can have problems to settle, and then an error at the reading will happen.
You can change the Interchannel delay at the AI Config.vi.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to use PCI-1200 on the DAQ Signal Accessory?

Is it possible to use PCI-1200 on the DAQ Signal Accessory? The documentation for the Daq signal accessory did not mention explicitly whether it
supports the PCI-1200 specifically or not?

    Hi,
Yes, you can. According to the manual, the DAQ Signal Accessory is compatible with Lab / 1200 series devices -- this includes the PCI-1200 card.

  • How to generate a signal like this on PCI-6202 DAQ card

I want to generate a signal like the one in the attached picture.
    Which have inputs like
    1. Frequency
    2.Duty cycle
    3. No of pulses
I have created a file which gives the signal like the other one in the end which has frequency of 200us and duty cycle of 0.5% that is 1us On and 199us signal off. Now i need to include some sort of condition that when the button is pressed then the signal of the require frequency, duty cycle and no of pulses is created as input by the user on the front panel, like the one which are first part of the signals in the picture below.

  • How can I convert a 0-50mA signal to 0-5 VDC for use by a PCI-6014 DAQ?

I have a PCI-6014 DAQ card. I am trying to measure the output of a closed-loop current sensor, which has an output of 0-50mA. When I tried using a 100 ohm resistor as a load (to measure across the resistor to get a voltage input for the DAQ) I get an AC voltage reading! I do not know how to convert the AC Voltage to a varying DC voltage. Most AC-DC converters output a fixed DC voltage (3.3V, 12V, 15V, etc.). Can the PCI-6014 measure the current directly OR is there a method to measure the VARYING 0-5 volt AC voltage? Please be specific, if possible. Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
PCI-6014 can measure an AC voltage directly. The Test Panels in MAX will show the peak voltage level of a signal, and not the root mean square (RMS) voltage. For example, if you measure the 120 VAC 60 Hz sinusoidal waveform that is available from a standard North American wall outlet, you will see a wave with a peak of about 170 V.
The conversion between VRMS and Vo is VRMS = Vo/√2.
You will need to determine whether you expect your AC signal to be in units RMS or peak-voltage and make the conversion, if necessary, using the formula above.

  • How to control two 6011e daq card to acquire eight signals simultaneously.

I use two 6011e daq card to acquire eight signals simultaneously .I use labview function to realize it,but the data graph show that the signals aren't acquired simultaneously, why?how to do it?

    Hello;
You need to use the RTSI bus to route one board's clock signal to be the second board's clock signal. By doing that, you will have the same signal clock timing both boards, which will make the synchronization hardware timed.
You will need to have a RTSI cable connecting both boards together also.
The best way to go about this is to open the Labview examples that show how to synchronize multiple devices. You can apply the same idea to your board.
The examples can be found at Search Examples->I/O Interfaces->Data Acquisition->Multiple Device DAQ Examples.
    Hope this helps.

Hi I need some sample ecg signals through which I want to check my ecg analysis module(that do filtering of signal and takes FFT of them).
Anyone can send me that plz.........

I had some sample signals many years ago.  I will look for them.  I can't remember the format, but I think it was just a 1D array of numbers.

  • Where can I found hardware to get analog signal from VCR and work with labview and then sample this signal in very high frequency?

I am trying to build a Digital Video Recorder using Labview. The problem is that I found that Labview sample the signal in the order of milisecond. I wanted it to be in the order of microseconds. Also I am looking for a cheap Hardware solution if it is possible

Your question does not make a lot of sense to me, so I will just point out a few things.
    1. The PCI-1411 works well with VCR signals. It has a BNC connector as well as a S-Video connector. The price is under $1000, so it is fairly reasonable. The amount of time you save getting it to work with LabVIEW is worth any extra cost.
    2. The PCI-1411 is sampling three colors at 30 frames per second, with an image resolution of 640x480. This is the best resolution you are likely to get from a VCR signal. The sampling rate for each byte in the image is about 28 MB/sec. This is in the microsecond range that you are looking for, I think. If you are only interested in the raw signal instead of the image, you could look at the high speed digitizing boards NI sell
s that acquire at higher rates.
If this information isn't really what you were looking for, perhaps you could clarify your question.

  • I am sampling a signal at 1kHz for every 1 second. How do i average the signal for N seconds?

I am sampling a signal at 1kHz for 1 second. After one second of pause, i sample again for 1 second at 1kHz. If i do this for Nth time, how do i average the signal over the 1 second period?

Anyway you need to have the data to compute the average... and usually you don't get the data point-by-point unless it is very low frequency acquisition.
If it is the case, you have to update your 2D vector point by point and then compute the average after each new point (much slower process indeed). You keep say 20 vectors of data and fill in the data (1, 2...20) and then( 1,2..20), so you compute the average on the last 20 acquisitions

  • Trying to generate a signal from two signals (EMG) that I have acquired from my NI USB

I am able to aquire two EMG signals that I am sending into a NI USB-6251 using signal express. However, I would like to generate an additional signal which is based on the two signals I've sent in. For example, I would like to show a signal in real time that takes the two signals and divides one from the other in order to show the percent contribution of each signal.
How would I go about doing this?
    Thank you

You should be able to use the Arithmetic Step (Add Step Button under Processing\Analog Signals) to divide the signals and then use that output as the input signal for a DAQmx Generate Step.  If you want to just view the divided signals you can display the result of the Arithmetic on the Data View by dragging the output of the Arithmetic Step to the Data View.
