I am trying to send an e-mail form a third party software and it tells me that it can not connect to MAPI. I do not know what that is or what to do about it.

The third party software is called Photo Mechanic.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access web mail, you need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it "can't connect" to my yahoo mail account, despite the fact that I can receive mail from that account. The banner appears with my coded password highlighted and asks me to choose 'cancel' or 'ok'.

I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it 'can't connect' to my Yahoo account despite the fact that I am able to receive mail from that account. It appears with the name of my Yahoo account, my password (coded), and the choice to 'cancel' or 'ok'. If I click either, the banner goes away but comes back soon. I can open Mail and see that all accounts are online. I get the banner SEVERAL time during a session - very annoying!
I have several accounts, but this only happens with Yahoo and sometimes Hotmail. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this Mail issue?

The only thing I can think of is that Verizon asked you to change your settings to the new servers without actually having set up your account there first.
I would go back to them for resolution. It's def not a phone issue. Like I said, those settings work for me, but I've only been a VZ customer for about 6 months. If you are a legacy client of theirs you might have been on an older email system that they are trying to retire.

Can't "type" anything when trying to send an e-mail.

For about 12 hours I have been unable to create a new e-mail or respond to an incoming one. Nothing happens when I try to type in an address or a message.

Try resetting your network settings.
Settings>Genenal>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

How to: Send out e-mails through a 3rd party mail host?

Hi,
We would like to send out e-mail campaign from our CRM system.
But we would not like to risc being blacklisted as spammer, so we would like to send out the e-mails using a 3rd party mail host provider.
Our sales department already use our CRM system for sending out their sales related e-mails.
They use our corporate exchange server for that.
So the scenario is:
I have created a smtp node in trx scot, and liked it to our domain *company.com
This node points to our corporate mail host. All our normal users use this domain.
All our campaign e-mails from CRM should be send using another mail host as described before.
According to note 455140, I don't see that I can create a new smtp node in scot.
And link this one to our new e-mail domain *company-news.com and the external mail host.
How do I send these e-mails to a specific mail host when the sender is a specific domain e.g. company-news.com?
My Exchange server guys say that they can't redirect specific mails send from our CRM system.
They can only redirect all mails that are send from our CRM system, but then all the e-mails from our sales reps are also send through a 3rd party mail host.
Does anyone have battled with this before, and how did you solve it?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.

The screen that says "Download Now" also shows the proposed iTunes version number (in the box below):

Ok I think it's a problem with my router. I went to my cousin's house and the Wi-Fi worked there perfectly. I was even able to download many apps. So I guess my router probably can't take in more connections. Oh well thanks anyway.

You may need to restore the iPhone while it is in what's called 'recovery mode.'

If you're really using iTunes 7.0 you are very far behind the current version - maybe it is trying to connect to a decomissioned server. In fact I am kind of surprised it will run on a Macbook Air. Are you sure you are running iTunes 7?

How much of a hurry are you in, and are you considering upgrading to Lion?
File Vault on Snow Leopard only encrypts home folders you select, and doesn't work well with Time Machine.
But Lion will have "full disk encryption" of local or external disks. See File Vault 2 here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/features.html
