Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I am trying to set up my new iPad 2 and to begin I installed iTunes on my laptop and connected the iPad to the USB port. Neither Windows or iTunes recognizes the device. I did everything this site told me to try and still no luck. Help!
You will not be able to see what version you are running until the iPad is activated. It will be in Settings>General>About >Version when you can get to the settings app.
The slider bar that you are describing sounds like the screen lock side switch and that has no bearing on setting up the iPad or connecting to WiFi.
Why don't you try rebooting your router? Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again and see if the iPad will recognize and join the network. -

I accidentally set up my new ipad in itunes under the name of my existing ipad and need to set it up as a new device. Help. I cannot find a way to start fresh.
That's probably not a good idea to try to share apps since you will have to switch ID's each time you update apps and sync apps from iTunes.
And technically - according to Apple's terms - you cannot share apps using different ID's. You can actually lock yourself out of an ID for 90 days if you switch ID's and if you associate the iPad with another ID.
The bold type is a copy and paste from the site that I referenced below.
When you turn on iTunes Match or Automatic Downloads, or when you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID. This article describes how to manage these associations.

I am having trouble setting up my time capsule. the amber light is flashing. i have a Verizon FIOS network that i use for the internet (WiFi) and do not want to configure the Time Capsule to do that function. I just want the Time Capsule to back up.
Simple.. bridge the TC.. in the apple utility in the NAT and DHCP area.
Plug it into the FIOS router.. you can turn off wireless in the TC if you want.. or use it.. it can work faster if you are nearby and can select 5ghz.. but up to you. -
Updated product info . Trying to set up Internet in new iPad using a Verizon wireless card.
A wireless card won't help. For set up, you need to connect to a wireless router, or via cable to a computer running itunes.

I am trying to setup my new iPad using the "restore from iCloud backup " function. My old iPad is updated to the latest available iOS yet the new iPad is not allowing me to choose the latest backup (just done this morning) as is says iOS 8.1.1 is required. Any suggestion? I have powered both devices off and back on to no avail. Any help will be much appreciateD. Thanks!
Hi if your other ipad is an old one the backup may not be compatible, so just set up and use the same Apple id & password You should get your Apps & data back but Apps will need updating Do setup over your Wifi. Cheers Brian

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Hi all.
I have just bought an ipad mini - and just went thru the start of the set up till the wi fi - it does not reconise my password!! which is correct.... i can't go any further and am very stuck.... help pleaseHi again.... i did restart the router - and still didn't like my password - my brother connected to the same network last week on his ipad 2??? Its my parents wi fi??? so can't look into it now - would it be easier for me to try via my PC itunes and do it that way ?? as i do not understand how to log into the rounter - sorry not a computer geek :-(

My iPad wifi was working great until I I connected it by Bluetooth to a keyboard (zagg). It was the first time I'd used Bluetooth
Immediately Internet was dropped on my ipad. My iPhone was and is still connected no prob. And I cannot get the iPad wifi to work again....at all!!!
This is major as I am away from my desktop for three months. Any fix cannot involve being at my desktop with iTunes which is 10,000 km away
So far This is what I've tried based on other discussions-
-turned Bluetooth off and unpaired to keyboard which was also turned off
- turned iPad wifi off and on (several times)

What happens is that the iPad sees the network and I enter my password. But, instead of getting "check mark" indicating a successful connections it keeps "circling". Sometimes the airport bars will show, but disappear or flicker. It never connects with a check noted in settings. Any attempts to use internet confirm there is no connection
My network is not a cafe or public network. It is one I regularly use here at my family's home where I am visiting

TS1398 I'm trying to set up my new iPad.
it doesn't find my network. When I type it in and give the password, it says unable to scan networks. I know my network name and password, but the iPad doesn't seem to find it. It doesn't even offer me "settings" yet.
You cant get into the settings until the iPad is activated so that's not an option. You can't do anything until it is activated.
Try rebooting your router. Unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in again. If that doesn't work, activate using iTunes on your computer. Restart the iPad first, then plug it into your computer with the cable and iTunes should startup and take you through the activation process.
If you don't have a computer, you will have to take your iPad to another WiFi network and try there or take it to an Apple Store and they will activate it for you. -
I have a new iPad and tried to set up as new, then realized i needed to sign in as an existing itunes user. I reset my new ipad as new, but now when I sign in using my existing ipad it backs up to the new one I just set up. I need my itunes account on my new ipad. help
You want to restore from the backup. Do not set up as new. You can read the article that Tom posted above, but it really is pretty simple.
Transfer any purchases from the old iPad into iTunes, backup the old iPad in iTunes and them sync one more time.
Connect the new iPad and when prompted during activation, restore from the backup that you just created and then sync with iTunes.
The new iPad should be identical to the old iPad, but you will have to enter some passwords again on the new device.
