I am trying to sync my wifes iphone on her macbook and every time we do this it reverts to her old iphone and erases all photos, contacts, emails etc. I seem to get in trouble each time i do this. Any suggestions?

I am trying to update my wifes iphone5 to her macbook. The macbook already has her old iphone4s information. I would like to set up a new id for her so that I can keep all of the information on her phone and get rid of the old stuff on her macbook now. Is there an easy way to do this now. I have an account on my laptop and dont sync with my macbook so it doesnt really matter to me with my iphone5, but i would like to start fresh with hers. It seems like every time I go to sync it i get a message that there is already an account under that user name. Can i keep the same user name and start fresh with what is on her 5.

Good for you that can't update your iphone because I did it and my iphone dosen't work for example I can't download any app like Wecaht or Twitter..

Did you fail to sync contacts/calendars with your computer regularly?
Did you fail ot import your pics?
If so, then they are very likely gone. You can try restoring from backup.

I had exactly the same problem and couldn't find the answer anywhere. However after playing a bit I found out that my computer name (i.e. Right click on "Computer" and select properties) contained a hypen. I renamed the computer to delete the hypen, restarted and now it syncs wirelessly like a charm!
Obviously something that apple overlooked which will probably right itself in the next release but should get you up and running fingers crossed!

If you are trying to update via wifi, don't.
Turn wifi off and connect to computer, update with iTunes. This will allow you to create a full backup to computer first, which is a VERY good idea.

We might want to have a look at the install logs to determine the cause.
Please try the following basic steps :
> Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
> Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
> Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

Do you mean an Alpha SLT-A55V - which I think needs ACR6.2.
As far as I can see, PSE 9 should have been issued with that ACR.
There are some updates available for PSE 9 to bring it up to 9.0.3 - in the editor, try going to the Help menu and selecting updates.
Check your version of ACR by loading the editor, and going to Help -> About plug-ins - Camera raw.- the last version for PSE 9 was ACR 6.5

You seem to have tried everything, and you say it's syncing fine on your Dad's iMac, so I assume, you have also done a Disk Diagnostic from an earlier post by tt2 and conclude that your iPod Hardisk is good.
You don't have to use it as a heavy paperweight, the problem is only using your Windows 7 machine for syncing.
In your troubleshooting steps, did you try to use another High-Speed USB 2.0 port, USB controller resource are very scarce, so if you use other USB devices, while syncing your iPod, it may just freeze.
Windows have a bad reputation for device conflict, so better don't connect other USB devices, while syncing, better sync it while disconnected from Internet, stop antivirus just before you go to bed.

Iphoto pictures disapeared after trying to sync my droid razr motocast to macbook.

Help! I'm trying to get my pictures to reappear on iphoto but nothing is working. Trying to sync my droid razr to my macbook has changed the format of the pictures and they no longer appear in iphoto. They appear as outlined squares with no photo. I disinstalled motocast from my computer and got rid of it on my phone, but still no luck. I tried pressing the option/command/iphoto icon together to reset thumbnails as is says to do in the help menu, but that does nothing. Does anyone have a suggestion? I appreciate any advice you can offer.

I found another post that addressed this problem and recommended Image Capture as the solution. I was able to transfer all my pictures from my iphone to the computer with Image Capture. Then, I just had to create subfolders and upload the pictures/short movies into iphoto in small batches (about 123 pics/movies at a time).

Have you synced your iPhone with iTunes on this computer before? If not, nothing is selected automatically under the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Was this the first time your iPhone was connected to iTunes on any computer? If so, the first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes for the first time that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or eyeless device to the iPhone or set up the iPhone as a new iPhone. This is not automatic, it must be manually selected.

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

like roaminggnome said you should see your contacts again once you sync with iTunes. if you used iCloud before, make sure contact sync is turned on and your contacts should be back.
