I am trying to uninstall QuickTime so I can reinstall with the latest version. It won't uninstall, says fatal error, any ideas welcome, thanks
I am unable to update to iTunes because evry time it says there is no Quck Time installed. but Quick Time is there. I am following the advice from Apple Support to uninstall iTunes first.... this was successful. The second one was Quick Time but it refuses to uninstall and repeatedly says there is a fatal error during installation. I believe it is really there at 70.12 Mb but am now at a loss. Any help gratefully received. SBM
SBM, you might want to try Microsoft Cleanup Utility to remove the old Quicktime msi file

Backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

I've been trying to get a book sample and a dialogue box comes up saying: To receive book samples, you need a device with the latest versions of iOS and ibooks installed and Automatic Download enabled. I have iBooks installed and automatic download enabled. I don't know if it's talking about a new version of iOS on my iphone or my laptop. You people sure like to make things difficult.

I had the same problem. It turned out the issue for me was that I had Automatic downloads turned off on my devices!
see below how to turn it on.
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your device.
Tap Sign In if you're not already signed in to the iTunes Store.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Tap On/Off switch to enable or disable Automatic Downloads for each content type. -
iPhone 4s won't connect to any wifi, have tried every restart, reset and update. The signal just got weaker and stopped altogether. The wifi address box in settings / about says N/A. Any ideas?

When I start itunes up and click on a movie I get an error message: saying something about Quicktime error! How can this be if I have the latest version.
I'm running Windows 7 on a desktop and before the upgrade of itunes every movie played. Today I bought a new movie and it said I needed the upgraded version of itunes for it to play. What a mess. Any help appreciated.had similiar problem with update in september. did the uninstall and reinstall procedure twice and still no luck. finally I just dragged the movie ontop of quicktime and dropped. clicked the play button and movie played fine. hope this helps.

Opened up itunes this morning and it said there was an update. So I hit the Install new version button. Gets just about all the way through and says there was an error.
I tried opening itunes from the shortcut on my desktop and says that it's pointing to nothing.
Downloaded the latest version of itunes and it installs all the way untill it gives me the finger .. I mean ... this screen shot:
Nice one Apple. "All your music. All in one place" .. but you can't access it. HAHAHAHA

That often indicates a hardware failure. make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at.

My ipod touch stopped playing videos and music for the past three days rest all are working fine.
I doubt the sound system is gone. i tried restoring it several times. I havent mishandled it. Few days back there was audio distortion and slowness so i upgraded to the iOS 5 but the audio/ video doesnt work. Alerts ,sounds ... donot work..Please help me out...Try a restore to factory defaults/new iPod. If still problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I want to know what to expect in terms of moving from one OS to another. Having been a Windows guy until last summer, my only experience is going from one version of Windows to another, which is usually a fairly costly purchase. I will want to go to Lion, but as a retired teacher, my income is fixed. I am not looking for a specific price, I am sure that is unknown, but I would just like to know help Apple does these things so I won't be sadly surprised.
Historically Apple has sold OS X upgrades via DVD media however with the advent of the Mac Apple Store that throws another possibility into the mix. That's about as much as I can say as these forums don't allow us to speculate about future products. As for the cost historically Apple has priced OS X upgrades between $29-$129, the last upgrade (Snow Leopard) was only $29 but that was an exception. Again we cannot speculate on these forums about that. The good news is that Apple is unlike Microsoft which makes OS upgrades expensive and complicated. The choice with OS X is do you want a server version (most users don't need one) or a single computer license. The users that buy server versions tend to have a number of Macs they manage from a server, most consumers don't have this issue.

Upgrades on OS X are usually very simple. I've upgraded from Tiger to Leopard to Snow Leopard and each transition has been very easy. With any major OS upgrade there are some basic rules to follow, for example always, always, always backup prior to any update. When Lion is released to the general public post again for what to do to prepare or even do a Google search on "How to prepare for OS X upgrade" and you will find a number of articles that will provide some suggestions and valuable insight. You can also re-post here and users will be happy to assist. -

If it is asking for a password to restore the backup and you did not set one, the backup is corrupt. Restore as new and then sync your content to the device.
