I am trying to update my payment information but my subscription is expired (without reaching one year) and the 'edit payment' link is not visible anywhere....HELP!
Has anyone experienced this? Why is my subscription expired? I have six days left to update my payment information, but there is no way to do so...

If the screen shows a plug going to itunes, then you have no choice, It's in recovery mode. You'll be given the chance to restore from a backup either from itunes or icloud.
I assume when you got the message to update (was this for the ios or update some apps?), that was before the device when dead. At any rate, doing a restore does not change the ios. -

I tried to update my iPhone 4 with the new Apple iOS7. Now my phone is locked with an iTunes icon and my recharger icon. I can't turn it on or get into anything. I can't even receive calls on my phone. HELP!
Same thing happend to my Girlfriend, you will have to connect to the computer and snyc with iTunes. Make sure you update your iTunes software. we had to click on "Restore iphone...". phone updated and she lost everything on phone , we then tried to get everything back and only thing we got was her apps . Good luck hope everything turns out better then us. .

If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined.
The 'charge' is temporary, each time that you change the card details on your account a temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

If you do not have a rescue email address (different from alternate email address) set up on the account, you will need to contact iTunes Support online: http://apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html (select Account Security as your help topic) or by phone: Apple Support Numbers
If you do have rescue email address set up:
Go to http://appleid.apple.com. Underneath where it says “Already have an Apple ID?," click Manage your Account. You will then need to sign in. If you forgot your Apple ID or password, click on the appropriate "Forgot..." link below either of these fields.
After you sign in, click on "Passwords and Security" on the left.
You will be asked to answer the security questions, but you should also notice a link below the second "Answer" field offering to send reset instructions to your rescue email address that you provided.
Check the Inbox of your rescue email address. The email should appear within a minute or two. If it does not, be sure to check Spam. If it is not there either, you can repeat the above process to resend. Once you get the email, following the link will take you to a page where you must sign in again. After you fill in the required information and continue, you should be taken to a confirmation screen stating "Your password and security information has been saved," and then you are done.
