I am trying to update the apps in my computer, but even though I am signed in with my Apple ID in the App Store, the tab where I am supposed to enter my Apple ID to to update it, someone else's email apprear. What do I do?

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

With lack of a message body here, it is really hard to help, But for starters, Try reinstalling your OS via the installation disk. MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR DATA.

It sounds like maybe you installed a trial at some point in the past and trashed the application folder rather than doing an uninstall?

Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in.
It also could be due to an Apple server problem. and yu will just have to wait and try again.

Sounds like the credit card you have on file is probably invalid/expired. You'd need to correct that or set the payment method to None.

How large is your HD and how much space do you have left?
Check out the following & do the necessary:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
Try SU again.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

Just user to user....based on past and current history, Adobe Tech Support is not going to help you with a technical issue which is preventing you from using your purchased serial number for Photoshop Elements. Version 12 is not the current version. And, the Adobe Tech Support is limited even for the current version which is 13. If this matter involves a purchased activated serial number trapped on a crashed computer while you are trying to install on a 3rd computer, then probably Adobe Chat Activation can be of assistance. If that is the case and you want to explore that possibility, then click on the following link

Photoshop Elements 12 in your list to reveal the serial number.
c. Do the install with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

No. Older ones did, recent ones should be managed via the App Store.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
If that doesn't help you'll need to contact App Store support.

Everytime i try to update my apps its says there is an error (20) I just bought the computer.. Is it because the person before me had them under their itunes?? Its like iphoto and igarage etc.. arent those standard on the computer? Please help.

The only thing you can buy legitimately is the computer and the basic discs that are necessary to operate it. All Apple apps over and above this cannot be legally sold on. The machine should have been completely wiped and the original OS re-installed, bringing the machine to its original factory condition. iPhoto and Garage band were part of OS 10.6.8. Snow Leopard.
You must not use the original owner's ID.

Hi...I'm trying to install acrobat reader on my macbook air but it seems impossible..

I am really ignorant about the topic but..till yesterday I could read pdf files directly from te web..now it seems that acrobat reader is blocked and whenever I try to install a new version of acrobat reader on my macbook "something" doesn't allow me to go any further..
The point is that I can still read pdf files from my USB or the ones I've saved..but not directly from any site of the web.

Problem - grayed out apple id in app store
I have signed in to my account, I am the admin and my apple id is correct shown in itunes, and other apps except the appstore.
In Appstore, it shows another email id and it is disabled.
Problem
1. I do not know why another email id is visible in my account (we have separate accounts on this laptop , all admins)
2. Why wouldn't it allow me to change the login name and let me get on with my updates!!
Options already looked
1. phone - asked me to go to support blah blah .apple.com
2. internet - i'm here.
3. Applet id - manage on line- all is well there. no need to change anything.
4. other apps with apple id involved - checked and works fine.
