I am trying to update to 10.1.1 from backup project/event folders

am trying to update to 10.1.1 from a backup project/event folders and all I am getting is the new library with clips ( in/outs marked) but no sequence file for the program. Can anyone shed a little light my way?

Here's the location on media drive 2. I navigate to update on FCP.

As far as I know you should be prompted for the password for an account that 'owns' one of the apps that requires updating.
If all of the apps with updates are linked to your account and that is the account that is now logged in, then you could try a reset and see if that helps : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

Nano ver 6 doesn't show up even after reinstalling iTunes which had to be done because of problems with all Apple devices after trying to update iTunes via a message from Apple.

Nano ver 5/6 doesn't show up in iTunes even after having to reinstall iTunes because of problems with trying to update iTunes after receiving message from Apple that an update was available. Other Apple products are showing up.

I tried to update my mother's iPad2 from ios 4.2 to the newest version. I am stuck in a loop. I get to the setup, but every time I back up the iPad, the setup tarts over. I restored the entire device - same problem

My mom has an iPad 2 that she bought a few years ago. She has never updated it and wanted me to do so. I installed iTunes, got the newest version, and plugged her iPad in. The update went great. Everything was backed up first, all the data was synched, but now the setup page starts over again and again after I restore the data. I tried wiping everything down to the factory settings, and the same thing happens I skip the woreless access setup because she forgot her wifi password and I need to reset that. But that should not be an issue...

If you have Wi-Fi, you don't need to connect her iPad to a computer to update iOS.
Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled on the iPad. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi
Tap Settings > General > Software Update
Trying to sync with iTunes on your computer won't work. It's already associated with your Apple ID.

Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

Temporarily disable your firewall and security software and see if that helps.

diesel--how can we save pictures and video before restoring to factory settings? That's the magic question that I can't find an absolute answer to. Just had a get together with my dad, who has cancer, I don't want to lose those pictures. There has to be a fail-safe for when this happens. My phone was working fine until I updated and was sent into recovery mode. I have a pc so my pictures weren't automatically imported but they still have to be somewhere on the phone.

I have been trying to update my pro to lion from snowlepard.

Every time I download the 1gig file it comes up with an error. Could you please fix the file Mr Apple.
File is called 10.6.8 I think. I run snow lepard and want to update to lion, or mountain lion.
I would prefer to have mountain lion to load as a clean install but aparently that is not possible.
I feel three try's at the download is sufficient to prove the fault is with apple.
Machine is a late 2009 macbook pro 13inch 500gig HDD 4gig RAM

First of all, it's not a 1 Gig file.
2nd, Lion is no longer available as a download, unless you make an arrangement with Apple, 1-800-My-Apple.
3rd, Lion is a 4.2 Gig download and Mountain Lion is a 4.37 Gig download. So, if you're only getting 1 Gig, you need to take that up with your ISP.
Could you please fix the file Mr Apple.
Lastly, you're not talking to Apple here. You're talking to Apple users.

It scroller down the bottm looks available disc's but nothing comes up??? what do i do?

The former has two optical drive slots, the latter just one.
PowerMac G5s are NOT 10.6 compatible.

I downloaded the iOS 5.0 for iPod touch and everything got backed up beforehand. Apparently my backups are encrypted and a password is needed to use a backup and restore everything back. I don't know what that password is! Can anyone help?

If you don't know the password, you'll have to set it up "as new device" and start all over again without using the backup. If you did not encrypt your backup and this somehow happened after the update, try to put in one of the password you use on your device, for example the screen lock password or your iTunes account code.
There have been cases in the forum, where users were able to unlock the backup by trying this method, after their backup got encrypted during the update process for an unknown reason.

Updating Time Machine after restoring from backup

I use both SuperDuper and Time Machine to back up my MacBook Pro to an external drive. My computer's internal hard drive recently died, and my most recent backup was from SuperDuper, so after I replaced the internal drive, I restored my system using SuperDuper.
With the new internal drive, Time Machine still recognizes my previous backups and lets me access my old files -- but when I try to create a new backup, it wants to delete nearly one year and 100 GB of old backups from the external drive to make room for new ones. I'm not sure why it feels the need to do that; all the Created and Modified dates on my files appear to have been preserved, so only the usual incremental update should be needed, and I have over 50 GB of free space on my backup drive for it.
I'd prefer not to lose that archived content. Any idea how I can continue using Time Machine without starting from scratch?

That's not what it uses to determine what needs to be backed-up (since they can be changed), but it doesn't apply to this case anyway.
Since you have a new drive, even if it has the same name as the old one, Time Machine knows it's a different drive and will back it up completely. You cannot prevent it.
This is actually for your protection; if you had a drive named "Music" and replaced it with a different drive, with different content but also named "Music," surely you'd want Time Machine to know it was different and back it up?
In fact, you can have two or more drives on the same Mac with the identical names; OSX (and Time Machine) know they're different, and can keep them separate without a problem.
If you really need backups kept that long, you need a bigger drive for Time Machine. Your best bet is to let it start fresh on the new one, and keep the old one "on the shelf" until you're sure you don't need it anymore. You can always view and restore from the old one, via the +*Browse ...+* option, per #17 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
Or, if you really want to, you can copy the backups from the existing drive to a larger one, then continue backing-up to them. See #18 in the FAQ.
