I am trying to use my apple ID for iMessage
I am trying to use my apple ID for iMessage, but it keeps saying username or password was incorrect!
I use to send and receive iMessages through my apple ID instead of a phone number as I travel a lot. For the past few days, it suddenly switched to sending and receiving to my current number and not my email (my apple ID)

First on a computer try editing your ID to change the payment method to None.

I have one Apple ID for iCloud that is used on multiple devices. Each user has their own Apple ID for Store purchases. Can I use my Apple ID that is NOT my iCloud ID as a way to get my iMessages/FaceTime on multiple devices?
To clarify, we share an iPad (original iOS 5.1.1).
When I use it, I would like to use my individual AppleID that I use for store purchases so I get MY iMessages on both my phone and the iPad.
It seems to work when I use the iCloud Apple ID (meaning iMessages come through on both units) but when I try to set them both up using my store Apple ID, it doesn't work.
Help?!?! -

I am not able to use my iMessage after updating to iOS 7.0.2. Although I have tried to sign in as many times as possible, a sign writing "could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again". My network bar is 4-5/5 but I still could not sign in.

How does one get to use their apple id for the first time?
I registered for an Apple ID, which was successsful, but i can't seem to use it, because everytime i try to use it on iTunes it says I have never used this account before, and directs me to the review option which i select but it does the same thing all over again and I can't upgrade to the latest version, because System Preference is failing to open when I try to open the **** thing

IMessage is not letting me use my phone number. It only says 'use apple ID for iMessage'
I've been trying to activate my iMessage but ya not working my iMessage are received at my email rather than my phone number. I tried to reactvate iMessage but only gives me the option of 'using my apple ID for iMessage' someone please help me!

Hi all!
I've been happily using iMessage on my iPhone, iPad 2 and iMac (OSX 10.8.5) for ages, until iOS 6 came out. Now, my iPad and iMac won't recognize my iPhone number to be used for iMessage.
Briefly, the phone number showed as "verifying" in the iMac's iMessage preferences -> accounts screen, but it was greyed out and has since disappeared.
My phone number is added to my Apple ID, I've tried to log out of all three Apple ID's (turning off iMessage and FaceTime) on all three devices, then logging back onto each starting with the iPhone, but all it does is add other email addresses I don't want associated with iMessage (even though I've deleted them) and my phone number is nowhere to be found except on my iPhone. It is the only "send and receive" option on my iPhone, and even synching my iPhone to my iMac isn't working.
Please help!
SandraAssociate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.
