I am unable to compose new emails in Gmail while in Firefox. Works fine on IE.

I sign into Gmail and am able to read new emails and go into my folders, but when I try to compose a new email it just says loading at the top and never comes up. It has to be Firefox because it works fine in IE. I do not want to use IE anymore due to issues with virus's so I am hoping you can help me fix this problem.

Here is what did... I have had about:config >dom.storage.enabled, set at false for a week or so now. There were no problems until the ff 3.6.12 update yesterday morning when I began having the same problems as all of you. I allowed all scripts, problem still persisted so I went back to about:config, toggled dom storage to true and voila, chat and compose started working again. Just to check, I switched it back to false and it stopped working again. You can use the add-on betterprivacy to autodelete dom storage cookies but it looks like google will no longer allow you to disable them completely.

I just installed gmail to retrieve messages within Mail: I can receive gmail messages and reply to gmail from Mail. However, I cannot create and send a new message in Mail using my gmail account; when I do I get the following error message:
Enter Password for Account
smtp.gmail.com:xxxx[account name]
The SMTP server "smtp.gmail.com" rejected the password for user "xxx[account name]"
Please re-enter your password, or cancel.
No matter how many times I add it correctly and click OK, the same message returns.

That is what I used to set up my gmail account in Apples Mail App before your post. Those instructions say that when you click on the Advanced Tab that the port will switch to 995 - which it did for me. I do have a minor problem though. Is there any way to prevent emails sent from Mail via gmail from showing up in gmails web page? I don't really like web mail whatsoever!

Macbook 10.9.2 will not get new email from gmail

I believe I have found a solution to this problem of OS10.9.2 not being able to get my new email from gmail.
Go into Mail Preferences>accounts and select your problem account. Go down to "Outgoing mail server" and select the box "use only this server."
At first I didn't believe this would solve my problem because it's "outgoing" BUT it worked. My new messages instantly began loading. I quit mail and later opened it to see if I would instantly get new messages and it worked.
I was desperate and willing to try anything. Try it. You'll like it.

It's a risk if you're using POP3 mail. You can archive mailboxes to another location for safe keeping.
Or, just try adding new versions of the accounts without deleting the old ones (you can have duplicates, name them different so that you can tell them apart). If the new ones work, then you can just drag the mail folders from the old to the new and then delete the old.

Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
If it's not Extensions, check for third party Safari add ons.

You need a third party app to do that. Look at Mail Shot or Group Email in the app store. You cannot do it with the built in mail app and the contacts app in iOS 5 without a third party app.

Replying to emails doesn't work, but composing new emails does work

Using the standard iPhone email app, if I reply to an email, the screen will show "sending" at the bottom and will update the inbox with an arrow next to the email to show it has been replied to, but the email is not sent. It is not received by the intended recipient. It does not appear in sent items. It is not shown as in the outbox. There is no error message. The email just disappears, and the only evidence I replied is the arrow shown in my inbox.
However when I compose a new email from the same account it is sent as would be expected.
I would guess this started happening at some point in the last few days, though I can't be sure because it is failing silently.

Unknown "from" email address when I compose new email

Hello,
Starting last night, I noticed that when I go to compose a new email, an unknown email address defaults into the "From" section of the new email. If I pull down on the unknown address, my real address is there, but not selected. I can select it manually.
I tried going to "Email Settings" and making my email address the default, but it keeps auto filling this unknown address into the "From" section of the email. The save is not sticking.
Does anyone know how to delete an email address once it is showing up in the "From" section?
Much appreciated.
P.S. I'm wondering if either my email or the Verizon system got hacked because this just happened from one moment to the next

#1 In the e-mail UI, go to Mail under My Settings
#2 Where it says Default From Address, select the e-mail address that you want the mail to come from.
#3 Press Save.

Yes, if this is an AOL account, that was the problem.
AOL doesn’t let mail clients create mailboxes at the root level of the account directory on the server. If you have Store draft messages on the server enabled, Mail tries to save the draft on the server, but fails to do so because AOL doesn’t let Mail create the Drafts mailbox there.
Actually, you should turn OFF Store messages on the server for all the mailboxes in Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors, so that those mailboxes are stored locally instead.
