I am unable to connect my Mac Pro to Internet even though rest other devices are working in a Wifi network
Please help me find a solution to my problem. I am unable to connect to Wifi network at home using my Mac Pro which was working perfectly all right till yesterday. I have checked my Wifi connections and have other devices which are working fine. I tried resetting my network but still the problem exists. I am unable to figure out what next I can do to fix this? Does anyone know a solution or do you think my networking Card is not working? PLease advise?
Okay have you tried preferences>Network then click diagnostics?
to verify if you are communicating at all go to application>Utilities>Terminal
in terminal type ping google.com should get over and over (send what you get)
64 bytes from 173.194.34.164: icmp_seq=99 ttl=52 time=31.586 ms
if you get the above, then go to safari and re-set safari, then close safari, re-open and try google.

Suddenly my ipad is unable to connect to our wifi. It buffers all the time?
All other devices are working normally. Is this a fault wityh my ipad or have I inadvertantly altered some setting? Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

My iMac won't stay connected to the internet, even though all other computers in my house stay connected, and its connection is set up the same way my fiance's macbook is (his macbook is about three years older than my iMac). Every time my computer goes into sleep mode and I come back (even if it's mere seconds after giving the black screen) I have no internet connection. I discovered a workaround for it some time ago, but now that is working less and less, and now my computer randomly disconnects WHILE I'm actively using the internet. Just a few minutes ago, the connection refused to come back until I restarted my computer, even though once again all other computers in the house were connected. The workaround I discovered before and which doesn't work as reliably now, is to click opne Airport at the top right of the screen, click "Open Network Preferences," then click "Assist me," then click "Diagnostics," and wait for everything to turn green again, signalling a connection.
Let's check the quality of your connection since signal strength alone does not insure a good connection. The "bars" that you see at the top of the iMac screen are there pretty much for show.
Hold down the option key on the iMac while you click on the Apple icon at the upper left corner of your screen and select System Profiler
Look down the list of items at the left of the window until you find the setting for Network, then click on AirPort.
In the window to the right, look for any listings of your wireless network name. You may possibly see two listings for the wireless network name.
We need for you to list the information that you see for Signal / Noise. These will be negative numbers. Post back with your findings and we will continue.
In the meantime, please move any cordless phones that you have or any other electronic devices that are near the iMac as far away as possible from the iMac.
If the iMac is located in a corner or an enclosed area, give it as much room as possible since the wireless antenna is on the back of the iMac and it needs to be able to "see" the room.
Anything that you can do to minimize the number of obstructions like walls or furniture etc between the iMac and the wireless router will help the cause as well. -
My ipad mini refuses to join home wifi connection. It is trying to do so continuously but with no success. I tried to reset all settings. Switched wifi off and then back on. Nothing works. The rest of devices are fine with the wifi. What shall I do next?
Maybe reboot your router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds or so and then plug it back in. Reboot your iPad while the router is powering up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
ESATA: connecting 2 mac pro's via esata to each other
has anyone tried to connect 2 mac pro's via esata directly to each other (instead of the slower ethernet connection)? i was hoping to install esata cards into the pci-express slots into 2 mac pros and instead of the usual ethernet connection between the 2 so they can file share, i was hoping for a faster estata connection if that is possible. would i see the computers in the usual finder window under "shared?" note: the mac pro's would be physically close to each other, so cable length connection is a non issue.
Hopefully no one would try this.
NAS or FiberChannel like Apple did with XRAID.
OS X client is not designed to handle file-locking and device sharing, not in this manner.

sorry, other apps are working fine and finding the new printer. HP Officejet 8620.
I've rebooted numerous times, reloaded the software twice, spent 4 hrs on the phone with HP and 2 with Adobe. No luck. It simply doesn't show the new printer in the drop down menu for Pro or Reader and yet shows time in all in Office, Paint, Web options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Unable to connect to Mac Pro with 2 network interfaces
The Mac Pro has 2 network interfaces. The first one is connected to a local network and the other interface has an external IP address (connected directly to the internet).
What we want to be able to do is to connect to the computer from home through the external interface and then be able to run applications on it that access a server on the local network. But, from home it is showing "Offline" in the "Current Status" column. If we try to connect it fails.
The thing I can't figure out is why I can access it from work on a different local network, using the external IP address. It works fine that way. There are no hardware firewalls that could be causing it. So either way, it is coming into the computer through the external adapter.
I'm stumped... Maybe it's something simple that I'm just missing. If you have any idea how I can access the computer from home please let me know so I can try it.
Thanks.Just installed TeamViewer and we're using that. Works great.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router

I am unable to connect to the internet even though my wi-fi is working
My iPad is connect to a wi-fi from my router but when i want to go on to the internet it says Safari cannot open the page becasue it is not connected to the Internet. What can I do to solve this?
There are two aspects to your router setup.
One is to make a wireless connection between the router and your devices. It sounds like that is fine.
Your router also has to establish an internet connection. It is possible to have a perfectly good wireless connection, but still no internet access. This is because your router is not connected to the internet.
Usually, there are a series of lights on the router that show wireless status, (A)DSL (the line delivering broadband to your house) and finally the internet. What is the status of your router?
If there are some issues, try rebooting the router (switch off for 5 seconds and then back on again)
Good luck
