I am unable to convert certain files to pdf with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

I am unable to convert Word & PowerPoint files to pdf.  (I am able to convert image files & excel)
I have enable macros in Word and still cannot convert the file.
I am getting the error popup:
Unable to open the document
Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file
I am running:
Windows XP Professional Ver 2002 SP 3
Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
Microsoft Office 2007

Open the document in WORD or PPT and print to the Adobe PDF printer. With PPT, you will have to select the fill page option. You may also be able to use PDF Maker in WORD or PPT. From your post I am assuming you are trying to open directly in Acrobat and all of these other things have to be working properly before the latter will work. If they work and you still can not open directly in Acrobat, then try a repair on Acrobat.

  • Not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

    Hi,
I am not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. When I try to convert, it starts the process and in between I am getting this prompt, as shown in figure below and the conversion process stops. The PDF is not created.
Note: The filename 'Acr85.doc' in the above prompt keeps changing and is random.
I tried clicking Yes, No and Cancel on the above prompt, but the conversion process just stops and PDF is not getting generated.
I am able to create PDFs from web pages. No issues with that. Not working only with Word.
Can someone help me with this.
    Thanks,

In MSWord please changes the settings as "Adobe PDF" menu => "Change Conversion Settings" goto Tab Bookmark and clicks the option Convert Word Bookmarks. Now you convert the Doc to PDF you can achieve the Bookmark.

  • Converting excel 2013 to pdf with adobe acrobat 9

I have tried and failed many times to convert an excel 2013 spreadsheet into  a pdf with adobe acrobat 9.
Is this a compatibility issue, Acrobat 9 needs upgrade?

If you have Excel 2013, you don't need Acrobat to convert to PDF.
In Excel, click File > Save As PDF

  • Unable to convert text file to PDF

    Hi,
Using Adobe Pro 9 Distiller on Windows 2008 64bit server. So far using Distiller to convert .eps files to .pdf with Standard job options file. I need to convert a .txt file to .pdf and am not able to convert using any of the OOTB job options settings that came with Distiller product installation.
Below is the Distiller output when I tried with Standard job options settings
    %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: MBLDxxxx-03.rpt ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Can anyone please provide me settings or job options file settings to convert reports in text format to PDF? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick response. I was able to generate the PDF using the Adobe PDF writer by opening the text file. Not an issue on 64 bit platform. The .NET application using Distiller to convert eps to PDF via Distiller and moves it over to a watch folder. Another application picks it up and bursts the large PDF to individual PDFs. I need to automatically convert txt to PDF and submit it for burst. Looking for ways to leverage Distiller to automatically convert the txt to PDF. Is it possible? Thanks.

  • Cannot open pdf files from websites with Adobe Acrobat X

Since purchasing and having my IT technician install Adobe Acrobat X, I can no longer open pdf documents that are hosted on websites.  We have many pdf documents on our business network and MS SharePoint sites.  Since the upgrade these will not open directly when selected in the MS Browser.  I can download the files to my computer and then open them.  I see the same issue with pdf documents hosted on "outside" websites.  I have set associations to pdf files to Adobe Acrobat 10  rather than the reader that is also installed on this machine but still have this same issue.
The error message window that opens in the browser says, "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.  If it is running, please exit and try again. (1:1)
I have tried with the Adobe application running and with it not running and there is no difference.
Is there something I can check or have my IT technician check to try and get this issue resolved?
I am runing Windows XP Professional with the latest service packs.
I am using Internet Explorer 8
    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Keith,
    Thanks for your mail.
Here's the link to the KB article that gives the details of how to configure the SharePoint server for Acrobat X. These changes enable PDF files opened directly from the SharePoint browser to be recognized as SharePoint files by Acrobat and this can be verified by going to the File menu in Acrobat. The File menu will have a menu item SharePoint Server.

  • Acrobat Distiller unable to convert the files to PDF.

Sometimes when I provide multiple files to Adobe Acrobat Distiller to convert them to PDF it opens multiple instances of it which can be seen in the Task Manager but the conversion to PDF stops. The version of Acrobat is 6.0. Could you please suggest me some solution to this issue and it would be better if you also provide me the how acrobat distiller works.

Yes the Distiller is on server so it keeps on running and we see multiple instances of distiller in task manager.
When we add files with intervals or few files then it works fine but when we provide bulk of files it stops converting them to PDF and when we check the task manager we find multiple instances of distiller running.
Then we manually kill the process and then againg the PDF conversion starts normally.

  • Converting a word 2000 file into pdf using Adobe Acrobat Standard X

I reinstalled my Adobe Acrobat Standard X today, and tried to convert a *.doc word file into pdf, but the application could not open the word file and got stalled. I remembered that last time I installed the application the same probelm cropped up and I had to install a Microsoft patch that was required to do this, What is the patch file and how do I get it?

I answer my question myself. I have solved it myself. The answer can be found by searching adobe website. But I give it here if it can be useful to others. Go to control panel. Go to Add or remove programs. Click on Modify in the listed Adobe program. Click Next in the box that appears. Select Modify. Click on + sign against pdF maker to expand. Click on X sign against 'this feature is not available' which shifts on to the little box on the left of Microsoft Office. Click on Apply. Quit. Once the Microsoft Office becomes disabled in Adobe, Word will open in all places.

  • How to convert word documen to pdf using Adobe Acrobat 9.0

I have just installed Adobe Acrobat 9.0 on my notebook. I'm having a little trouble when I had to convert a Word document to PDF because the results are not in accordance with the display on the monitor screen. The layout of the image is slightly changed as well as the layout of the document. Perhaps there is among you who can help me.

    Hello,
I'm sorry you're having trouble. Unfortunately, this forum is for Acrobat.com. Acrobat.com provides online services for meetings and collaboration on documents, and we can't help with problems specific to the desktop version of Acrobat.  I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

  • Combining Office 2010 word docx files or doc files into pdf freezes Adobe Acrobat 9.X

When combining multiple Office 2010 Word docs into one pdf causes Adobe to freeze. A word dialog box pops-up prompting to save the pdf to start out(which is incorrect). Naming the pdf should be the last step. It does save the first doc into the pdf you name but does not merge the rest of the pages and just freezes. I have uninstalled, repaired Office, etc. Any suggestion would help or it looks like a complete rebuild of the system.

    Thanks again Bill
I tried printing to the Adobe PDF printer as you suggested, the process was successful and no errors came up. Close examination of the file did not reveal ant weird formatting or fonts. I tried repairing the file with Word to no avail.
I eventually found that replacing the last two paragraphs of the document which contained a couple of links did the trick. Something weird and unexplained. All I know for sure is the issue is dealt with on my end.

Acrobat Pro 8 is not compatible with Win 7---especially for creating pdfs.

  • Problems converting Wrod doc (2007) to PDF with Adobe Acrobat 8.x

I have been trying to save a word document (2007) to PDF. If I open Acro
bat and try to do it there by selecting a file I get a message that says unexpected error - no details. If
i try from Word, the file appears to process but there is no document.
I see nothing on line that answers this question.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi there,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble. While I can't help with your Acrobat question (you're not in the Acrobat forum, but rather in the Acrobat.com forum), I can tell you that there are two online services that can do this conversion for you:
    1. Acrobat.com (www.acrobat.com) is a service for creating and sharing files, as well as web conferencing;
    2. Adobe CreatePDF (http://createpdf.acrobat.com) is a service solely for creating PDF files from existing documents.
I would recommend either of those services to you for creating PDF files from your existing Word documents, as well as from image files and other text files (for a full list of supported documents, please see http://createpdf.acrobat.com/faq.html).
For help solving the Acrobat problem, you'll probably want to re-post your question to the forum on the Acrobat User Community site: www.acrobatusers.com/forum
    Best of luck!

  • Converting excel file to PDF using Adobe 9 standard on windows XP

I have installed office 2010 SP1 on a computer and it already has adobe 9 installed. user never had problem with converting multi sheet excel workbook to PDF using MSoffice 2003.
Now, when we open excel files in EXCEL 2010 then try to print it to adobe 9, it asks for a filename and we type a name and it convert the first 2 sheet and then it asks again for the other filename and if we enter other name it print other sheets into second file. so basically it splits to 2 PDF files for no reason.
I tested same file on my laptop with windows 7 and adobe standard 9 and office 2010  and i got same result.
anybody knows what is the issue?

Have you updated Acrobat? Have you tried printing to another file format just to see if it is an issue with Acrobat or OFFICE 2010. OFFICE 2010 has forced many folks to upgrade to AA X to obtain compatibility.

  • Can't view media files in PDF with Adobe Reader

I've got a PDF that has some video and audio media in it, I've installed the latest Flash Player and Adobe Reader and I still get the message about not having the proper "Media Player" for it. When I click the "Get media player" button, it doesn't do anything, like the link it goes to is broken.
I've tried viewing the PDF on a friends laptop that has Macromedia Flash 6 and it works fine there, so why won't it work with the latest software?

Hellow my friend , I had that problem and after headache I solved it .. the point is to download (adobe flash player for IE) not the other versions , so when you redirecting to flahs player download page just make sure to change system version; that mean to click (Need Flash Player for a different computer?) ,then select your operating system, then select version (Make sure to choose flash player 14 for internet explorer ) .... It will work very well >> u can follow the captured images I have attached .

  • FDF file opening in Internet Explorer--not in Adobe Acrobat Professional XI

    Good morning!
I have created a form in Acrobat Professional XI and have a submit button that emails that data back as an .fdf file.  This is working as it should.
However, on some of the returned emails, the .fdf file is opening in Internet Explorer--not in the associated file in  Acrobat Professional XI.
Is this the default?  Is there a way that I can specify that it always opens in Acrobat?
I looked on line, and found where you have to associate that type of file with Acrobat
    I have Windows XP
in My Computer--in Tools, Folder Options, File Types, I have where FDF files are associated with Adobe Acrobat.
Are there other changes that need to be made?
We have a work-around--we can import the file data into the form--just takes a little longer.
I tested this before I posted the form online, and it worked perfect.  Now that it is online, we are seeing some snags...
As always--Thank you for your help!

Thank you for your quick response!
no--it is an fdf file.  Has an .fdf extension.
One difference that I have noticed that the file that is opening correctly (in acrobat) was sent from a gmail account.  The file that is opening in internet explorer was filled out in Adobe Reader XI from an outlook email.
This is the window that appears when the file is opened.
On the Tools--the only items that are accessible from this screen is the AddOnTools--not all the tools sets.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
