I am unable to create folders in Pages on my new iPad

I've tried clicking edit, selecting the documents to have the yellow frame, holding down till they pop up, and dragging them together, but when I release they just spread back out. Any thoughts?

Try it again? You seem to be doing it correctly except for one little detail. Just slide the thumbnail slowly on top of another one - not next to it. You don't pull the documents together - unless I am misreading your post. That is what it sounds like you are doing.
It's basically the same way that you create a folder on a home screen. Try it a couple of times and practice it. If you tap Edit and then you tap a file and get the yellow border and then hold down on that doc until it pops up you are doing everything correctly up to that point.
If it still doesn't work after a few more tries, quit Pages completely and restart the iPad and try again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Yes. While in thumbnail documents view yoy can hold down on a document icon until all icons wiggle. Drag one document on top of another one to creat the folder. Or tap the Edit button to get the icons to wiggle, Tap done when you are finished.

User Unable to Create Folders on Mapped Network Drive

I have a user who is unable to create folders in a directory where she should have all the necessary permissions to do so. She is a member of an AD group, and the effective permissions for that group include everything except:
Full control
Change permissions
Take ownership
The permissions are inherited from two levels up the tree. So I went to the level from which the permissions are inherited and selected the "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" option in order
to force the permissions to be reapplied to the child objects. That fixed the issue for about half a day. The issue came back and as far as I can tell nothing was changed--she still appears to have sufficient permissions to create folders, and
yet she cannot. In fact, I established a remote connection to her machine and tried it myself (under her account) and was not able to create a folder at any level in the tree.
I have confirmed that one other user who is in the same AD group can create folders at any level of the directory tree. I have also confirmed that no explicit permissions are set on any of the folders in the tree. So the two users have the same
effective permissions, yet it works for one and not the other.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My apologies for letting this issue set for so long. I got waylaid by a series of other more pressing issues and had to push this one to the back burner for a while, but I was able to come back to it and get it resolved today. I wanted to report
back for the benefit of others who may be reading this thread in the future.
I think there were two separate issues:
Conflicting permissions. The user was a member of two groups--one that grants the permissions needed and one that grants more restricted access. Her user account was also listed on the folder with more restrictive permissions than the groups.
She needs full access, so I removed her user ID and the more restrictive of the two groups.
It appears that the changes were not getting written to the subfolders. One of my co-workers suggested that I add her user ID with full control, make sure that change was made on all the subfolders, and then remove her user ID again and make
sure the removal was made on all the subfolders, just to verify that the changes were getting written to the subfolders. That worked.
I'm not sure why the second step was necessary, since the first step should have been sufficient to force the permissions to be re-written on the subfolders, but I could not get it working without doing both of these steps.

If you have already purchased the iOS versions of these applications, they will appear in your "Purchases" list in the app store. Register your iPad with the same Apple ID as was used for the purchase, and you will be able to download and install it on the iPad (and on any other iOS device registered under the same Apple ID).
Wayne's response applies if your previous purchase was the Mac OS X version of Numbers and Pages.

You don't know if this feature will be added in the iOS 4 update for the iPad, as nothing has been announced about it except the date.
Pages is an App and therefore could have folders now if Apple wanted to do it, just as you say GoodReader has. Nothing to do with iOS 4.

Unable to create folders for apps on springboard

I was successful at creating folders for one of my sons on his Ipod Touch, but my other son's Ipod won't allow me to do it. Is there a setting that needs to be turned on or off or what? With my sucessful situation, I simply held my finger on one of the apps on the springboard until they all got wiggly, and, therefore, moveable. I drag one app on top of another and was able to create a folder for the 2 (i.e., zombie games). I did the same thing on my other son's Ipod and the apps would not go on top of each other, would simply replace each other in the order they were on the springboard. I hope someone can help...

I've just started using the new Photos app in the latest Yosemite update on my Macbook Pro.
Until recently I was using Aperture to sort all my photos into folders and subfolders - I think they were called "events" or "projects" in Aperture.
In Aperture, I was creating folders like "1993", "1994", "1995" or "Best of My Family".
Then I had subfolders within those folders - things like a "Christmas 1995", and perhaps some subfolders within that like "Christmas 1995 at Home", "Christmas 1995 at Parents" as well as things like a "favorite 1995 pics".
And sometime non-date related folders - things like "Children as Babies" subfolder or "Parents on Vacations" subfolder within the "Family" folder.
These folders and subfolders seem to have been carried through to this new Photos app as "iPhotos Events".
But I dont seem to be able to continue sorting - like creating new subfolders within folders.   For example, in Photos I don't seem to be able to create an album within in an album.
Am I missing a trick here?
Is Photos unable to do this?
Or, is the community please able to suggest another alternative solution - like, would using the Pictures folder in Finder be better, perhaps in conjunction with DropBox instead of iCloud?
Or another photo organizing app that is able to sort folders and subfolders?

One way to create folders, subfolders, albums, is to make sure you have your Sidebar showing (menu - view > sidebar) and then use "Control + mouse click" on a folder you want to create a subfolder or album in to bring up the contextual menu.   You can also do these things in the upper right of the Photos window using the + icon but that always seemed to put those items in the top level of the sidebar so I would have to drag and drop them to the folder where I wanted them to go.

I've restored the new iPad 2 from the old "1". All my photos, notes etc are there but when I open Pages on the ipad2, initially it shows all my old docs (with no thumbnail) but they instantly disappear and I'm left with only the "getting started" doc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dani

How do I go about getting just my Pages documents from that backup and by the way, how do I access that back up?

You will need to restore the backup - just downloading the app from the store won't give you its contents from a preivous device, you will need to restore the whole backup onto your new iPad (which will replace its current contents) to get the app's content.

Is it possible to use the free Pages app on new iPads when using Configurator?

We understood that Pages, Keynote, Numbers, and other apps would be free for our new iPads. We are a K12 school and use Apple Configurator to supervise student devices. These apps are showing up as paid apps. Is there a way to make this work?
If we log into iTunes on an unsupervised device, we can download the apps free. However, this is not possible for student devices.

Currently, the PXI-8221 is not supported under LabVIEW RT. If you need to have an external hard disk for additional disk space, I will recommend you getting a PXI-8252. This is a FireWire card and you can connect an external hard drive to it with the right HDD enclosure.

Unable to sync cloud and local songs to new iPad

I have ripped a lot of CD's with iTunes and stored them locally. Aditionally I have purchased songs using 2 different iTunes accounts. Now I'd very much like to have all of these songs syncronized onto my new iPad. Is this possible? If Yes - how can this be done?

You'll have to update to Mac OS X Lion.
