I am unable to download the itunes 11 update.
I tried downloading the software manually as if it was a new software, but halfway through it said it was deleting my apps, music photos etc which completely freaked me out so I cancelled the download.
Can you tell me if I downloading a new itunes, while I still have the old one on my desktop if it will wipe all my music photos etc out?
Is this the solution to my ituness 11 software update? I have tried using the software update tool, going to tools and downloading only, but it keeps saying the digital signature is invalid so it wipes out the download.
What to do?????? Please help. I feel like I have wasted way too many hours trying to solve this problem!
Don't upgrade! The new version is HORRIBLE! The rest of us are all trying to get the old one back!!!

I got it to work by changing the DNS address in my router then changed it back after the upgrade was completed. simply change it to Primary DNS:208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220 it works. I was having issues thinking it was the saturation of everyone trying to upgrade and this solved the issue. No idea why until now the issue started since I never had to do this to upgrade. but it works.

Here is my problem:
I'm unable to download the latest software iOS 6.0.1 to my iphone 4 because there is not enough available space. I tried to sync my iphone to itunes and it says, "itunes cannot read the contents of this iPhone. Go to the Summary tab in iPhone preferences and click Restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings."
I backed up my data to icloud to ensure everything is backed up. Is there a way to verify if data was really backed up in icloud?
What else can I do in order to free up enough space to download the newest version iOS 6.0.1? Current version on the iphone is 5.1.1 and there is only 1.6 GB of space remaining. I need 2.5 to download the software.If you really are running OS 10.4.6 you have a long way to go!

It may still be in the Legacy Products list. The App Store which is required to download 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion is part of the 10.6.6 update.
If you wait to long and they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already up to $100 on Amazon.

THIS WORKS! I kept trying to reinstall several times and also had the EXACT same error message. I then I went to my control panel and went to the Unistall Programs -> Selected Apple Software Update -> Right clicked -> Select Repair. I let it do it's thing, then reinstalled iTunes and it worked just fine.

Jolly Giant gave good advice re. ITunes and unable to download the latest version on my older Mac Mini. I downloaded ITunes 9.2 as he suggested but came to a standstill at the place where we "agree" with terms. Couldn't open this without Iwork which I don't have. Help! Carolyn
Hello, no way you should need iWork to "Agree"!?
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
And if you're really at 10.4.2, then get this and apply it...

I connected my wifi to my iMac and was asked if I wanted to download the most current update. I backed up my iPod and did the download. My iPod was able to connect to the internet at my friend's house, but it hasn't been able to connect since then, and the connection to wifi is grayed out. Nothing has changed with the network; just the updated software.

Please help.First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
