I am unable to go beyond 15 minutes of Snow Leopard installation?

Mine Late 2009 Mac Book Air 13.3/2.13GHZ/2GB/128SSD. Came with Snow Leopard. But I migrated to the latest OS as they become available and was running
on Maveric until few days back
Form two weeks ago mine started to have lock up screen... Initially while I was on Safari three weeks ago.
Forced quit the screen but would not boot. On every attempt a single bleep at regular intervel. Tried all suggested Safe start, Command D , ect with no luck.
Left it for a day and pressed the start button the computer worked for until yesterday.
Yesterday on my attempt to install the latest updates from apple for the iWork & OS update for RAW files..Safari,the screen developed lock up.
Put in the Disk 2 of my Snow Leopard to run the Apple Hardware \Test by pressing "D" at the start.. Performed the extended test "No Trouble found" as suggested the restart went into that bleep at regular intervel...
Forced quit and when tried to start up the same single bleep at regular intervel....
Left it for 24 hours, started this evening it but the apple logo and a bar appeared below with filling upto third and switches it self off. This happened fro few times.
So I decided to connect my MacAir Superdrive and managed to put in my Snow Leopard Disk 1.. Start with "C"... It took after few attempt come up to the screen to select the language, agree apple's aggrement.then clicks in the superdrive with spinning and the bar reaches 28 minutes to go shuts down.
While in DIsk 1 went to see utility.. no error on the Mac HD.
I have tried thie few times and no further progress possible..
I have tried Command+Shift+P+R and attempted the install,failed after reaching third of the way with 28 minutes to go.
Can I some how get this working?
Regards

No,Mine was not shipped with USB OSX. I had two disks came with this computer.
I placed my order for the Mac BookAir in the second week of August 2009-The period when the OS Snow Leopard is to be released. My computer was dispatched in the 2nd Week of Sept 2009 and I was lucky the the Snow Leapoard was installed with 2 diskets in the box.
Is it possible if I sign into my account to download my Snow Leopard in a USB? How could I obtain OSX on a USB?

  • Snow Leopard installation freezes at 25 minutes remaining

    Hello,
    I am trying to upgrade my software from Tiger to Snow Leopard on my 13 inch MacBook currently operating with Mac OSX 10.4.11. I put the installation CD into the computer, and began the installation process. However, at 25 minutes remaining, the installation froze and the little color wheel kept spinning on my screen. The installation disk in the disk drive kept making a sound like it was trying to continue with the process, but then the noise would die down, and then it would get louder, and die down (and repeat) for three hours. I turned my computer off last night, and am not sure how to move forward today. What should I expect when I turn it back on? What should I do to I install this new software successfully? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    When I select Disk Utility from the menu, will there be an option to select Repair Disk?
    After choosing Language then click the Utilities Menu - Disk Utility - Click your internal HD on the left - Select *First Aid* tab and then you will see Repair Disk.
    What does this process do?
    It will repair the disk if it can be repaired. This may take several passes, so run Repair Disk several times. If the disk cannot be repaired it will continue to get error messages, at that point you will need to replace the internal HD.
    Should the Snow Leopard disk remain in my MB while I run the Repair Disk process?
    Yes!
    If so, how can I start the installation process - do I need to hit a specific key or command?
    After Repair Disk has successfully repaired the internal HD quit Disk Utility and continue with the installation per the on-screen instructions.
    BTW I sure hope you backed up your internal HD prior to doing the upgrade, if not you have lost all of your data, settings and applications!
    I don't know if this has an impact on the problem, but I did not erase or unistall anything on my hard drive before starting the SL installation process.
    That's fine

  • Unable to boot from bootcamp to macosx snow leopard in bootcamp ctrl panel

    update to bootcamp 3.2 for win 32
    winxp home sp2 bootcamp,
    open bootcamp ctrl pnl> select macosx to reboot> press enter> dialogue to restart now?> yes
    desktop freezes, i press ctrl alt del, .. nothing get the busy/working cursor
    this happened on the last update also.
    so i do a hard shutdown,
    is there a patch to fix this / changing registry key / editing bootloader ?
    tl;dr
    trying to reboot from xp to macosx in BOOTCAMP CTRL PANEL (bootcamp 3.2)
    ty,

    trying to reboot...in BOOTCAMP CTRL PANEL (bootcamp 3.2)
    I've been noticing that Boot Camp 3 is a bit more finicky when rebooting back to OSX. I'm suspecting that the desired partition is not set correctly in the PRAM/NVRAM, so the Mac is looking for a non-existent partition to boot from. Nothing that happens consistently for me; happens maybe one out of every 40-50 reboots.
    The workaround is instead of using the control panel in Windows to reboot to OSX, just shut down Windows as normal, then start the Mac holding down the Option key. OSX's Startup Disk System Preference seems to set the startup disk correctly, but Boot Camp's seems to have issues. Once I stopped using the control panel in Windows to reboot, I haven't had the hanging reboot issue so far. YMMV, but something to try that's different than what you're doing now.
    ...i'm getting stuck at bootcamp ctrl panel > choose which os to restart to, > i select macosx in the ctrl panel, after i click yes to restart it freezes after 20 secs and it stays that way for more than 10 mins, so i hard shutdown(holding down power button)
    If my suspicion is correct and the contents of the PRAM/NVRAM are corrupt (i.e.: Boot Camp Control Panel not setting startup disk correctly,) you should to [reset the PRAM|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379].

  • Boot Camp 3.0, unable to select Default startup disk in snow leopard

    I've installed Snow Leopard On my black Macbook, actually upgraded on 10.5, and then installed Bootcamp 3.0 on my Boot Camp partition which is on Vista Ultimate, everything is fine but this little annoying detail! I can't select default Startup Disk when I'm in Snow Leopard. I can select default Operating system from Vista but no chance to select it from SL! Just wonder did this happen to anyone else?! and any suggestion to solve it?

    Rather than use a 3rd party product to enable writing to ntfs drive you can enable native ntfs read/write support. The method is described in Mac World OS X Hints.
    Use this link to the article
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20090913140023382
    You get read/write privilege and all the partitions show up in the "Startup Disk" window.

  • I'm unable to install anything after upgrading to Snow Leopard

    I've upgraded to Snow Leopard and after that anything I try to install stops at the Install button. No error messages. No crashing. Just don't install. Even the system upgrade didn't install...
    Any ideas?

    this may happen if you are using a custom keyboard layout. delete the file /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.HIToolbox.* and log out/in. then try installing something.

  • I am unable to install Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro

    Hi
    I am unable to update to Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro. I have 2 GB of RAM. When I boot from the install disc I get an error message that this OS cannot be installed on this machine. Sorry, I don't have the error verbatim.
    Am I missing something in the system requirements?
    Is there another OS I need to install prior to installing SL?
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Not impossible, but not likely, either.
    I don't know why people keep telling me that what I saw couldn't have happened or is very unlikely. Whatever.
    There are not many third party applications that can interfere with this, although maybe there are a few hacks & system 'enhancers' that could.
    Little Snitch is not something that most people would call a "hack", and lots of people use it. I meant to quit it, and any other third-party background processes, but forgot. Shortly after I started the Snow Leopard installation, I _saw it block a connection attempt_ by the installer. I allowed the connection, but nonetheless something went wrong. When everything completed and my machine restarted, I still had 10.5.8... absolutely nothing had changed. (I'm not complaining about the "nothing changed" part... I could have ended up with a destroyed system and I didn't.)
    I rebooted from the SL disk, repeated the installation and everything went fine.
    Moral of the story? Do your system installs in the most controlled environment possible, which means rebooting from the disk.

  • TS3626 Mac os x 10.4.11 unable to install snow leopard

    I couldn't install osx snow leopard family pack in to my Mac osx 10.4.11?? I've tried many times. It's start installing aswell but after 10 to 15 minutes it's stops with the error says couldn't install on your computer.. The installer could not copy the necessary files.click restart to restart your computer and try installing again.
    I have a intel core 2 duo processor, speed 2ghz memory 1 gb..
    Please help me solve this problem.

    I suggest the following:
    How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
    Boot from your current Tiger Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
    Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    Check the box labeled Erase destination.
    Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
    If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
    You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
    The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
    Boot From The Snow Leopard Installer Disc:
    Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
    Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
    Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
    Wait for installer to finish loading.
    When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
    E. For updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).

     Private Sub btnSave_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click
            Dim RR As RunnerRecord
            FileOpen(2, "Training.dat", OpenMode.Random)
            If drpType.SelectedItem = "Running" Then
                RR.MilesRan = txtMilesInput.Text
                RR.TimeRan = txtTimeInput.Text
                RR.SpeedRan = txtSpeedInput.Text
                RR.CaloriesRan = txtCaloriesInput.Text
                RR.WeightRan = txtWeightInput.Text
            ElseIf drpType.SelectedItem = "Swimming" Then
                RR.MetresSwam = txtMilesInput.Text
                RR.TimeSwam = txtTimeInput.Text
                RR.SpeedSwam = txtSpeedInput.Text
                RR.CaloriesSwam = txtCaloriesInput.Text
                RR.WeightSwam = txtWeightInput.Text
            ElseIf drpType.SelectedItem = "Cycling" Then
                RR.MilesCycle = txtMilesInput.Text
                RR.TimeCycle = txtTimeInput.Text
                RR.SpeedCycle = txtSpeedInput.Text
                RR.CaloriesCycle = txtCaloriesInput.Text
                RR.WeightCycle = txtWeightInput.Text
            End If
            Dim RecordNumber As Integer
            RecordNumber = drpRunner.SelectedIndex + 1
            FilePut(2, RR, RecordNumber)
            FileClose(2)
            MsgBox("Your information has been successfully saved")
        End Sub
    P.S I don't know why I saved the Structure as a different name from the last I just decided to leave it as it is since it was quicker

  • Password Lock - How do I extend the lock device beyond 30 minutes?

    It is very annoying that after 30 minutes the Q10 automatically locks itself and the password has to be re-entered. During a working day can be frustrated. In settings there seems to be no way of extending it beyond 30 minutes.
    With my old bold it wasn't necessary to keep doing this.
    any ideas?

    If you are connected to a Blackberry Enterprise Server at your employer this might be a setting they enforce and you can't change this.
    If you only use your Q10 privately you can switch off the password completely.
    BTW, this is a security feature. If someone finds or steals your phone and if it never locks, everything can be read out.
    We have a company policy to lock the device after 15 minutes.
