I am unable to import older photos! Help?!

Hi,
I am experiencing issues importing photos from my iPhone 4 to my iMac. Only recent images are imported through iPhoto when I connect my iPhone to my iMac. I have 330 images in "My Photo Stream" folder. There are images in this folder that date back to over a year ago. I would like to import ALL of these photos over.
How can I import ALL photos? I would appreciate any help.
What I have done:
-Rebuilt iPhoto database
-iCloud photo stream is enabled.
-Everything is updated (mavericks, newer iPhoto, iOS 7)
-My phone is not Jailbroken nor do I plan to do so.

SOLUTION
I went ahead and downloaded an app called iPhone Explorer on my iMac. I then used this app to go through my iPhone and found the photo stream images in a folder. I then extracted them onto my iMac.
I just do not know why apple makes things so difficult when it comes to retrieving old images.

  • I am unable to import new photos in iPhoto 11. Perhaps I should just reinstall from iLife disk? Will it affect my photos in any way?

    Hello,
I have iPhoto 11 installed on my MacBook. I am now unable to import new photos using USB or by plugging the camera directly into the laptop. Never had that probem before with this camera. Perhaps just reinstall iPhoto from the iLife disk?

    Hello Terence,
Okay I will try reformating the camera's card. However all is well when I export photos to my iMac at home or onto my iPad.
If your suggestion does not work should I try reinstalling iPhoto from the iLife disk? If so, how do I go about doing that or is there a website somewhere explaining this?
    Regards,

  • IPHOTO  As a result of trying to import "selected" files, I am now unable to import any photo.

As a result of trying to import "selected" photos, I am now unable to import any.
When I insert my memory card, the message I get is : Unrecognizable Format".
    Help!

See if you can upoad the files from the memory card to a folder on the Desktop with Image Capture or with a card reader.  If you can then put the card back in the camera and reformat it with the camera.  Take some test shots and try importing as you normally do again.

  • In iPhoto 9.6 how should I import older photos located in yearly folders and monthly folders?

Before using iPhoto my photos were cataloged by locating them in folders broken down by year, month and activity and on different HDs.  Over the last few years my newer iPhone photos are imported into iPhoto and saved on a separate HD. I think I read that it is possible for the photos to remain in their original locations without copying them and doubling the HD space.
Should I just dump the older photos into the same location as my newer photos and if so, how will iPhoto import them?  I think I may have just answered my question!
How do you suggest I import the older photos (5,000-10,000 photos)?

    Dear Mr. Devlin,
I have been reading many threads regarding iPhoto, and you seem to be the most knowledgeable person on the software. I was wondering if you could resolve some basic misunderstandings I have related to andyhutch's question. I know that iPhoto is a database, and that the software provides views into the database. Under the "LIBRARY" heading in my iPhoto sidebar, I have 4 views: "Events," "Photos," "Faces," and "Places." In which of these views am I seeing the actual photo files and in which am I seeing a pointer to the file? In other words, if I delete an "Event," am I deleting the actual photo files or just a view into the database? The same question for "Photos": if I delete one of the Photo collections, am I deleting the actual photos or just the pointers? I am trying to simplify the organization of an 8K photo collection and use smart albums more effectively, and I don't see why I should bother with two additional ways (Events and Photos) to view my photos. But I am afraid to delete anything for fear of losing my original photos.
Because you have contributed numerous posts to the Support community, you may already written something that addresses my questions. In that case, I apologize and hope that you can provide a link to that post.
    Thank you.

  • Unable to import iPhone photos to iPhoto

    Hi everyone.
Im on iPhoto 7.1.5, when I plug my iPhone into the computer and then open iPhoto, there is no option to import photos, I have in the past imported photos from the iPhone into iPhoto, but now for some reason it wont give me an option to import, any ideas what the cause could be?

    Hello Thomas,
This could be a behavior mentioned on the Apple website. Try http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3195.

  • Unable to import all photos in an Aperture project

    Hi all,
i was trying to load my new iPad (3) with some photos from my Aperture library (via iTunes) but noticed when selecting/checking the projects to import that only a subset of that project was able to be imported. This is the case with several of the projects in my Aperture library. Any ideas on what may be the cause? I thought at first that it may be an issue with RAW files, but in most cases there are none in these projects.
    Dan

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I solved the problem by regenerating the Previews for the whole Project, but now find that I have to do this just about every time I add new photos to the Project which is becoming tiresome as this is not a quick process.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is suddenly happening?  I have been using Aperture for 6 months & it has never happened before.  There are only about 300 photo's in this particular project (I don't believe that is near the limit) - & no stacking at all, so that is not the problem...
    Thanks T

  • I am unable to import photos to my computer from my iphone. I need help!

Everytime i try and import photos to my computer I get an error message on every single photo. It says "The following error occured while importing 'photoxyz.jpg': The exact error is unknown. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you seek additional help to resolve this problem: 80210005." I can then try again (which never works), or skip the file. Essentially I am unable to import any photos from my phone. With the iphone 4 i did this all of the time with no problem but now that I have the iphone 5 this is all that happens. How do I import my photos? I don't want to import every single photos on my phone, just the new ones since the last time I imported. Thanks!!

I'm having the same issue.  i have imported everything but the offending photo from my iPhone.  problem is, with over 5000 pics, i have no idea how to find THAT ONE pic that won't import (bc I just get a greyed out pic image - with no data in iPhoto)

  • IPhoto 4 importing duplicate photos without dialog box opening

I often import pictures from my Canon PowerShot SD550 to more than one computer. I do not use iPhoto to delete photos after importing. Occasionally I need to import more recent photos to one computer before I have the opportunity to import older photos to the other computer which is at another location. I used to get a dialog box on this computer asking me if I want to import duplicate photos. I must have accidentally checked the wrong box once because iPhoto now imports all photos every time without the dialog box. How can I regain control to not import duplicates?

It's just me … restating my question. My original wording was not as clear as I thought!

  • Lightroom 3 - import new photos freezes before I can setup anything

I did one import succesfully couple days ago.  Today I am unable to import new photos.  Not sure if it is related, but I added CS5 Suite today. I have a very recent PC with the i7 processor.
I go to:  File -->  Import Photos ...
Next, the import window opens and I get the hour glass (spinning wheel).   Tried restarting LR several times and left it sometimes for a long.  It does not come back and I am unable to do anything.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

    Hi Victoria,
My storage configuration is two internal SATA drives, one USB external and a NAS box on a Gigabit Network (copper).
I have disconnected the external drive and removed the network shares without noticing any difference. I am running Vista Ultimate 32-bit with 4GB RAM.
PS i've also run scandisk and defrag on my drives!
    Best Wishes,

  • I have copied many photo's from another laptop to my Mac.  The older photo's are in directories with names that help me select what I need to view. I would like to have all my imported new photo's also bee added to the directory structure I have in Finder

I have copied many photo's from another laptop to my Mac.  The older photo's are in directories with names that help me select what I need to view. I would like to have all my imported new photo's also bee added to the directory structure I have in Finder but my new photo's are all in iPhoto.  I want to use directories for storing and iPhoto for viewing.  Is this possible or do I need to have all my photo's in iPhoto??
    Mitch

iPhoto is not a Photo Viewer. It's a Photo Manager and designed for looking after the files while you organise the Photos. It really works much better if you let it manage those files. If you use iPhoto you never go near those files because iPhoto is your start point for anything you want to do with your Photos - the point of the pplication.
You can run iPhoto in Referenced mode, where it does not copy the files to the Library, but I caution you that you are making life a lot more difficult for yourself by doing that.
How to, and some comments on why you shouldn't, are in this thread

  • I am unable to import photos from iPhone to Mac.

I am unable to import photos from iPhone to Mac.  The most recently taken photos are not showing up on the screen ready to import as usual.  Any thoughts as to why?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
