I am unable to import Raw still images from a Nikon D 80 into Premiere Pro cs 4. All jpeg images ok

I am unable to Import RAW still Images from a Nikon D 80 camera into
Premiere Pro. All jpeg images import Ok. A web search suggests I need "plug-ins" for RAW, but I can not find  same. Any suggestions as to how to inport RAW files to PP CS 4 would be appreciated. I have just updated from Premiere Elements 4 which had no problem importing RAW still images.

The way I see it (correct me if I'm wrong) but Raw is supposed to be where you have total editing control of the shot (as opposed to the camera). I believe the next step is to do the editing (i.e. color balance, exposure, etc) then make a regular image from that to use in whatever output you desire (print, web, etc.) Think of raw as the negative. Just being in raw doesn't in it self make it better.
Edit. This is from premiere help files....
Supported still‑image and sequence file formats
Adobe Premiere Pro supports 8-bit per-channel (4 bytes per pixel) and 16-bit per-channel (8 bytes per pixel) still-image files. It converts images with lower bit-depths to 8-bits per channel and images with higher bit-depths to 16-bits per channel on import. High bit-depth files are supported at one single-precision float per channel (16-bytes per pixel).

  • Failure to import fcp7 project's xml into Premiere Pro 2014.  Details below.  Why is it crashing? Any thoughts?

Here are the details of my problem:
Premiere Pro 2014 (up to date)
Mac book Pro OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 with 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor
Source footage includes a variation of codecs as follows: H.264 in a .mov container, 1920 x 1080 Apple Pro Res 422, Linear PCM
There are no error messages, the import into Premiere Pro 2014 begins normally but the "progress bar" never starts and then after about 10 seconds a blank white box appears followed by the pinwheel.
When the problem occurred I was trying to import a fcp7 project's xml file into Premiere Pro.
I emailed Adobe Support Tech the fcp7 xml file and it crashed his computer, however, I was able to successfully import one clip from fcp7  (an Apple ProRes 422, Linear PCM, duration 1 minute) from the fcp 7 project into Premiere Pro, but not the whole project or the bare essentials (the cut itself).
I am not running other software
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?  Not that I know of...
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU). ??????
I am using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration
The problem only happen when I try to import the FCP7 xml project file into Premiere Pro

    Hi Lynn,
Have you inspected the XML file for any anomalies? That might be a way to see if any third party effects were used.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • I am unable to import raw images into elements 11 camera raw from my panasonic lumix 200

I am unable to import raw files to E11 from my Panasonic Lumix 200. I get a response that says "nothing imported - no supportive file types" also "can't complete request as file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by installed version of Camera raw". I think I understand that I need at least a 7.2 version and don't know what I have.  The camera is a fairly recent model.

I'm new to all of this and didn't know to look further down the menu. I started browsing under help and found how to register the product which I hadn't done and have been thinking that was the root of the problem. Turns out with your suggestion to get me started I was right - I hope, haven't tested it yet. I had 6.4 It is still running.

  • Importing RAW  (CR2) images to iPhoto (7.1.1)

I'm having problems importing RAW (CR2) images to iPhoto (7.1.1) from my Canon Powershot G9. It imports the JPEGs with no problem, but says the following for RAW (CR2): "The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data".

    Yellowfish
That would be because the G9 RAWs are not supported at this time.

  • Importing CMYK still images into PE12

I am very disappointed that Premiere Elements 12 does not import CMYK still images as it is time consuming to have to keep converting to RGB. Does Adobe propose to remedy this? Also, a 'generic failure' message is not exactly helpful. And it would also be helpful it the official Adobe list of acceptable files made it clear that CMYK coulod not be imported. I always thought that Adobe were experts when it came to file formats. How would we manage without Adobe Photoshop?

Ooops, sorry if I'm in the wrong forum after all that!! To be honest, I hadn't even realised there was a Photoshop Elements as I use the full Photoshop myself. But I'm even more surprised at the suggestion that Photoshop Elements will also not accept CMYK files as even hobbyists presumably often use Photoshop Elements for print for which CMYK is better.
You are wrong. Hobbyist very rarely use CMYK for excellent reasons. First, CMYK is the normal color model when you want to print on professionnal offets presses or similar. That's not a common output for hobbyists... whether they use home printers, local labs or web labs, RGB is required. If you send CMYK to those devices, they will convert to RGB before using their own color model which may be a variant of CMYK...
Since you are starting with RGB from your cameras, any conversion will lose information. CMYK is inferior in that case.
Presumably Abobe's view is that people who want CMYK should stop grumbling and buy for the 'full' programme, whether it is Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements. Not very helpful!
There, I think you are right

  • How do I import raw CR2 files from camera into LR5? I get an error message

I'm trying to import raw CR2 files from my camera into LR5. I get a message "Files appear to be unsupported or damaged." I know they are not damaged. Does LR5 support raw files? I can do this in Bridge and it converts them to dng files. This would be ideal for me if both could be done in LR5.

Not sure what the problem is if you say the files re recognized in Bridge? You could test the CR2 files by downloading the free Adobe DNG converter - latest version 8.6 (keep your CR2 originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)and then import the DNG’s. It’s an extra step but I use it all the time to batch process into final folders.
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.6
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.6
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Unable to import or copy photos from a time machine back up saved from snow leopard into iPhoto now running on lion

unable to import or copy photos from a time machine back up saved from snow leopard into iPhoto now running on lion

The correct method of restoring photos from Time Machine is to restore the entire library.
The way that TM backs up files makes nearly impossible to go into the backup via the Finder and recover individual files. So you will have to restore a library that contains the photos you need being sure to select the option to keep both versions.
Then open the restored library and export those photos you need.  Open your original library and import those photos.  After that you can delete the recently restored library.

  • Am unable to import or play music from an audio CD

Am unable to import or play music from an audio CD. All works fine on the old iMac 10.4.11
I think I've checked preferences. Should work. What am I doing wrong? What haven't I done? Thanks!

    =Troubleshooting CD ripping issues=
The easiest thing to check is if it is just this CD.  Try another one.  If others work, then it is likely the CD.
Try an alternative ripper such as XLD or Max.  Even though you may not want that as the long-term solution it will at least indicate whether the problem is with iTunes or something else.
X Lossless Decoder: Lossless audio decoder for Mac OS X - http://tmkk.pv.land.to/xld/index_e.html
    http://sbooth.org/Max/
If other CDs and rippers do not work, it could be the drive itself, or the part of the computer running the hardware. For the latter some have found a SMC reset to work.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
Apple Portables: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
If you think it is the drive, you can try a cleaning disc (about $10 from a computer store or media store) to get rid of dust.  I haven't had much success with these, though usually I am running some older machine on which I can expect a drive to die after 5 years of use.
If this is a CD burning issue, try a different brand of media.

If you're really desperate and none of the above work, you could look at: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3635433 - tips on possibly repairing an old CD drive  If you have to go to this extent you're probably in a place where you just want to think about getting a new drive.

  • Why are my images created in Photshop cs6 blurry when insterted into Premiere Pro

I create beuatiful still images in photoshop CS 6  to use in my videos.  They are high resoultion raw files that are reized to 16x9 ratio.  Once I put them into Premiere Pro they are still fine.  When I place them in my timeline and press play on my sequence they instally become blurry.
    Please advise?

There could be a few things at play here.  But if, as you say, your images go blurry only when you press play, you might take a look at your playback resolution settings.  I'm not sure how the most current release works (I haven't installed it due to the several new bugs posted here), however in recent versions there is a separate quality setting for the program monitor when the video is stopped vs. when it is playing back.

  • Importing .mts AVCHD files into Premiere Pro CS5.5: can it be done?

Is it possible to import .mts files from a memory card into Premiere Pro? Whenever I try to, I get a message that reads "Codec not supported".
My camera is a Sony Alpha A55, and this worked perfectly well in Final Cut Pro X.

I am not using the Sony Alpha A55 which might use a different codec than my other Sony's (CX-550V and HX5V) BUT I am using PP on an iMac. For different reasons (one of which being that I already used this approach with FCE), I am converting my raw mts files into mov files using ClipWrap ($50, very fast, they have a trial version for download). This has many advantages:
    - the footage is UNTOUCHED. It is just put into a different container.
    - the mov files are WATCHABLE in the Finder (and everywhere else, including PP).
    - the mts files can be dragged and dropped (without bothering about the folder structure) directly into ClipWrap (or first on your HD if you want).
This being said, my experience is that even those files are too much for my (I thought) powerful iMac to scrub through once basic editing has started. So I resorted to transcoding to proxy mpeg2 intermediate files (so that I don't fill up my HD too quickly) and only before exporting my sequence, replace the proxy footage by the original (well converted) mov files. I am still working out the ideal workflow...
Try the ClipWrap demo to see if the codec is supported. If not, they are a very responsive company and will most likely update their software rapidly (for free).
    HTH.
PS: I paid for my software, so I am just a satisfied customer reporting on the product.

  • Maximum file size for importing into Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi,
I'm considering recording raw video, no compression at 720p, 30 fps for 20-30 min.  This woudl result in a file that is close to 80 Gbytes.  I'm wondering what the maximum file size for importing into premiere Pro is and if I need to split this file up into smaller pieces.  Any recommendations on how I may deal with uncompressed raw video that is pretty long in length?
    Thanks,
    Serena

There is bound to be some limit somewhere in the program, but you should be well below that. The biggest issue might be whether your computer is up to the task of handling it. If you will post your computer specs., someone will give you comments on that aspect.
    Good luck,

  • How can I make title screens in either Illustrator or Photoshop and import them into Premiere Pro?

I'm having trouble finding the identical aspect ratio to import either an Illustrator or Photoshop title screen into Premiere Pro. There are so many ratios to choose from with Premiere Pro that I've about lost my mind. I was able to import Photoshop title screens into iMovie with no problem. I'll be importing the finished video into my YouTube channel. I want it to be widescreen but have no clue which ratio to use. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I always start with New Image in Photoshop, and then choose a Video Preset, that matches my PrPro Sequence. I use one with Guides. I usually choose to create that New Image with a Transparent Background.
Once complete, I just do a Save_As to PSD, which will be Imported into PrPro. If you have Ps Layers, you have two choices on Import: you can Import as Footage, which will Flatten your Layers, or you can Import as a Sequence to keep the Layers separate. Depending on what I will be doing, I might select one, or the other. If you Import as a Sequence, you can then animate each Layer individually.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can't import prores files into Premiere Pro CC or SpeedGrade CC

Can't import prores files into Premiere Pro CC or SpeedGrade CC. But I can into After Effects CC.
I also can't export to DNxHD files to an MXF file either.
I do have latest Quicktime Pro installed and I also have Avid Media Composer and the other pieces of the Avid package.
    Conflict?

I only have one account on the computer and it has Administrator priveleges.  What I am doing to make it work is opening the application using the "Run as Administrator" command (e.g., right click application shortcut on desktop, choose "Run as Administrator").  I am not a Windows guru but I would guess there is something different between opening an Application with a user that has Administrator priveleges and opening an Application choosing "Run as Administrator".  Also, your answer still does not address the fact that I can't use my jog wheel.
    Anyone else have some ideas?
