I am unable to import some of my music bought in itunes

I have an issue, when i tried to import my music which i retreived some of it did not import and some of it only imported parts of albums can anyone advise me please?

That won't work. Your music must remain in the iTunes library.
If I transferred music in from another drive onto my mac, and put it in the music folder under my account, does it put the music in another folder then and have duplicate copies?  I don't need music twice and if it is then I'll remove the original copies I put on the computer or will that remove both if it is copying them?

I can't sync some selected movies i bought in iTunes store. Any reason for this and help please?

I assume they are,  but I am not completely certain.  I purchased the songs from iTunes, so I would be surprised if they are in a format that is not playable by the Touch.
How do I check whether the format is playable?

  • Iphoto unable to import some jpeg files... why???

Am trying to import some photos from a friend. They are jpeg format on a CD which was created at the photo developing lab when he got his films developed. Have tried importing them one at a time, all at once, by copying, by "adding", by dragging... I'm out of ideas. I keep getting a message that says the files are either "unrecognized file type" or "may not contain valid data." However, I can open them in Preview, in photo editing software, etc. Any ideas?

    Hi red-doc,
I am not sure why you can't import them. Why don't you open them all in Preview and then save them. Make sure the extension is added to the file name when saved. Next try importing them.

  • I am editing an idvd slideshow to have some of the music selections from itunes fade out at the end of each vacation segment using music reflecting the country visited.  Is there a way to fast-forward the slideshow to observe the where the music ends.

I am editing an idvd slideshjow to have some of the music selections fade out at the end of each vacation segment.  Is there a way I can fast-forward through the slideshow so I can see where the music is ending and adjust the time to end properly?  (without repeatedly clicking the forward button on the e-remote)

Thanks very much, varjak paw.  I checked half a dozen tracks on my iMac from different albums which did not copy over, plus several which did copy over.  They all show the same location:
Users/Christina/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Brandenburg Concertos etc. (one example)
What does this mean relative to the music which didn't copy? Is there another step?  or somewhere else I should look?
And wow, thanks for the info about not having legal right to keep the tracks from the CDs.  I am embarrassed that I didn't know.  I gave most of my CDs to my sister. Before I delete all this highly prized music (400-500 tracks) -- if I get the CDs back from her and keep them at my house, can I continue to keep those tracks on my iMac?  (Sister does not have iTunes or even know what an mp3 is, so it's not like she has copied or imported the CDs -- I just didn't realize I needed to retain possession.)
Or do I still need to remove all that music from my library?
Thank you again for your help.

  • ITunes update corrupted some of my music files so iTunes can't find the file, nor music I  bought from the iTunes store.

After an iTunes generated update of iTunes, some of my music can't be accesed any more. When I try to play the file, iTunes says it can't find the link. This also happens with music I purchase from the iTunes store, so I've lost all this music; do I have to re-buy the purchased music again? My iTunes program is on my C drive, and the music library is on my D drive. In iTunes, I've set the ripped music to be placed in my D drive. The lost links are on some music files, but not others which do play music. Some compilation music files were split up into individual files, usually without LP art attached. Some album art was placed on wrong albums as well. Music with lost links have a ! mark beside the song name. File info says the link is on my C drive, but I can't find it there. Any ideas on how to get these lost files back. Thanks, Moizy.

    Try this...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • My friend wanted to get some of the music off my itunes. when syncing it needed to udate her phone which it did - now all her photos are gone. and the last back up was from when she used my itunes 6  ago. How can we get back her photos :(Please help

My friend wanted to get some music off my itunes - when syncing it it said she had to update her phone software first - which it did. Now all her photos are gone. When we tried to restore the last back up - the only one was from when she used my itunes 6 months ago which was from her old iphone. So now it has put all her photos from her old phone onto her new iphone and deleted all the new ones. We cannot find her new photos. Please help and there was 100 new pics. Is there any way we can get them back. I already have the program Asoftech - but it doesnt seem to register the iphone only C and D drive. Please help!

This is called "stealing". You do not have the legal right to give her the music you have in your iTunes library unless you are the copyright holder.
when syncing it it said she had to update her phone software first
That's not quite what it said.  Someone should have paid more attention to the great big warning about the possibility of losing data if the phone wasn't backed up.

It restored the backup that was made on your computer 6 months ago, which did not contain those photos. You're wasting your time trying to find them on the phone. They don't exist.
Hopefully, your friend syncs her phone to her own computer on a regular basis. She needs to plug her phone into her computer and restore it from her last backup. That will restore it to the state it was in when the backup was made.
She also needs to get in the habit of extracting the photos on a regular basis, like she would from any other digital camera.

  • Should I import my extensive CD music collection into iTunes?

I was hoping to get feedback on what the benefits (and perhaps disadvantages) of importing a very extensive music library (consisting of about 100 CD's) into iTunes would be...

    Funny Question...
First of all is this a poll survey?.... lol.... anyways here are the benefits:
    1) All the collection will be in the Digital format, so even if the CDs got damaged, the digital files won't unless your wife or kid deletes them.
    2) Having all the songs with you on one device will let you listen those songs more often instead the old fashion way, also you will not have to keep track of where each CD is as everything is on iTunes.
    3) While you decide to step into the next era of digital music, make sure you import them with AAC 256 Kbps or higher, this will ensure the crystal clear sound remains, as encoding them with 128 Kbps reduces the sound quality extensively.
    4) After you have done importing the CDs, make sure to Back up by FILE >Library>Back up to Disc>
choose "*Back up entire iTunes Library & Playlist*". Doing this you will have an extra copy if anything goes wrong with your PC. (Use DVDs for backing up, as each empty DVD can hold upto 4.7 GB).
I hope it help. GOOD LUCK

  • Bug: LR3 unable to import some images from catalog

I've apparently encountered an odd bug in Lightroom that is preventing the "Import from Catalog..." feature from working on some files, or more specifically, one directory.  I'm trying to merge images from my laptop catalog to my desktop catalog (e.g. Y:\LaptopPictures to F:\SourcePictures).  When I attempted to import images from 2009 and 2010 the 2009 images imported correctly, but the 2010 images triggered an error: "Lightroom was unable to copy the files for these images to the folder you selected.  \\Users\me\Pictures\2010\...".    Note that the path "\\Users\me\Pictures\2010..." does not match the source or destination locations for the catalog import.  Also, during the import the 2010 images were not correctly identified as duplicates.
Once all of the 2009 images were imported, an attempt to re-import the catalog causes the "File Handling:" option to omit the "copy" option, only giving me the "add without moving" and "don't import new photos" options.
It would appear that Lightroom is somehow getting confused for images dated 2010, perhaps related to a previous import where I accidentally imported pictures into \\Users\me\Pictures (instead of my media drive).  Finally I tried a straight import of the images, and Lightroom was able to correctly identify duplicates and import the images, and then a subsequent import from catalog appears to have successfully copied over ratings and keywords.  So, it's not catastrophic, but it's still an extremely annoying issue.
Has anyone seen an issue like this before?  Is there some magical hidden email address for submitting Lightroom bugs?

This doesn't appear to be a network issue since: a) I hadn't encountered this problem using network-mapped drives in Lightroom before, and b) the process works for other files outside of 2010.  In general, Lightroom has performed wonderfully over the network, with a gigabit ethernet connection far outperforming an external drive.  To confirm my hypothesis, I did copy the entire Lightroom catalog over to the destination machine, and I saw exactly the same problem.  Interestingly, I did another test where I exported a 2010 image to a new catalog, and it was able to import correctly, so it's possible that there is something going on with the "working" catalog that is confusing Lightroom on my desktop.  Although these workarounds help, the bug remains the same: importing from one catalog to another is not working on a subset of files for some unknown reason.  Of course, the end result of this will most likely not be Adobe finding a fix for the bug, but instead will be me spending several hours re-exporting and re-importing and manually cleaning up metadata and duplicates, which is disappointing.

  • Unable to import some MP3s

Hello -- I am sure I am not the first to have this problem, but I can't find the answer, either.
Problem: I have collections of old radio programs in MP3 format that I download from an FTP site. I save to a folder and use "Add File to Library" to import the files into iTunes.
Most of the files import just fine, but some don't. There is no error message -- they just don't show up in iTunes.
The files work fine in other players.
Is there some fix I can apply to the files (dozens) that would make iTunes able to import them properly?
    Thanks!

Now that I FINALLY got my account created to post... I'm having this same problem, but I do not know how to check the file extension. It's showing it's an mp3 file in the folder and it plays just fine in windows media player, but I can't add it in my iTunes library. It's driving me nuts. Is it perhaps because it's such a large file? They're about 30,000 KB each (audio book).

  • Unable to Import some RAW files...

    I use Lightroom 4.
I just went to import a bunch of RAW files from my computer - the images I want appear, but they are "shadowed" and aren't selectable. The Folder panel in the import window states that the folder/s I've selected contain 0 bytes (aka NO photos) even though it does show them in a "shadowy + un-clickable" state, yet when I go into the same folder through Finder they ARE there! I'm a little frustrated and just want to be able to get on with editing my photos!!
    HELP!

If your description is of the import window, I suspect the images in question are already in your catalog.

  • Unable to import some MP3 audi files

    Hi,
I have a number of MP3 files that I want to add to my iTunes library. Most of them are added happily but a couple simply won't !
    Am I missing something ?
    TIA

check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access. if this doesn't help, try the same on your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder).
    any help ?

  • Why does my I Tunes play only some of my library when it can't access the external hard drive from which I imported some of the music? My esternal hard drive has been corrupted, but I    thought I Tunes would have "saved" songs I dragged to it.

Some of my ITunes library came from CDs, some from an external hard drive with songs  in it.  My external hard drive went bad, which I wouln't have thought would have affected my Itunes library or the songs I had previously imported to it from the external drive.  But now the Itunes cannot locate many of those songs. Is there some process of importing/saving that is different when you import from CD? Hope someone can help.....MN

    Hi MNinPungo,
When adding music to iTunes from another location (for example, an external hard drive), iTunes can either make a local copy of the file in the iTunes Library or create a pointer to the original file in the original location, depending on the preferences you have set. You may find the following article helpful:
    Add to Library
So you can access content quickly, iTunes indexes all music, audio book, and video files that you add to iTunes. This index is called the iTunes library. When you add content to the library, iTunes adds an entry for each audio or movie file to your index. The files could be in your Home folder, somewhere else on your hard drive, on an external hard disk, or on another computer that you're accessing through file sharing.
To add files to your iTunes library, you can use these options:
Drag files from the Finder to the appropriate icon on the left side of the iTunes window.
Choose File > Add to Library (on Windows, choose Add File to Library or Add Folder to Library) and select the song or folder that you want to add.
iTunes adds entries to your iTunes library for the selected files and copies the files to your iTunes Music folder (if you selected that option in the Advanced pane of iTunes preferences).

  • How do I transfer all of my songs from Iphone to itunes as lost everything, some songs are not bought from itunes and have been from borrowed CD's but I really want them in itunes library?

Hello, Please help as I tunes havent got back to me yet!!
A couple of months ago, I lost all of my music/itunes etc as my computer needed a complete restore. When it re-installed itunes there was no songs on it at all and would only let me transfer the purchases made on my iphone from itunes back onto my library. The problem I have is that I want to upgrade my phone to the iphone4 but dont want to lose all of the songs on my iphone, some are downloaded from the itunes, most are from CD's that I still own but there are some great songs that I have put on from borrowed CD's or another download company i.e. hmv music downloads and those are the songs it will not let me transfer into the library on my computer so when I get the new phone, I could just sync and they will all be there.
Please help as I do not want to lose any of my songs
    Thank you

for purchases from the iTunes store do this:
connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
