I am unable to open attachments in my emails

since I upgraded firefox, why am I unable to open email that have an attachment?

Hi tillysingh,
Are you saying that you can't even open an email message that has a PDF attachment? Or, are you unable to open PDF files in attachments? What happens when you try? Do you get an error message?
Best,
Sara

  • I am unable to open attachments (Word Documents, Excel file, Adobe) from my Gmail with Firefox.

You may first want to look into Safari's "Installed Plugins" section within the browser. This is (usually) found under the Safari Help header in the top of a browser. I say usually, because I don't use Safari often and mine is an older version. They handle applications and plugins like most others, to a point.
I see in Safari Installed Plugins that mine would use
    application/pdf
    Acrobat Portable Document Format
Acrobat Reader & reader plugin v9.5.5 for web browsers
(in Safari 5.x, where I looked into this)
While I use FireFox, SeaMonkey (Mozilla) and others, where I can choose in preferences the helper applications to open from the browser, Safari has different methods; so if you can change this in the preferences or settings of Safari in a later version I am not certain.
You could see what the defaults are by using Safari help menu to open the Installed plugins, and maybe find out what happend to Adobe reader plugin. Could be it was 'sandboxed' in a later OS X and needs to be installed differently to be accepted as safe.
It is easier to set how a file type is handled once it is inside the computer and not held in the browser; by file type in general or specific to each single document. I do both, and seldom let an a browser do these things due to security considerations. I download and open them, only then if I feel they are safe.
Sorry to not have a specific answer for that anomaly.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Unable to open attachments in WebUI only for some users

    Hello ,
Can you please help with this attachment problem we have..
Certain users are unable to open/view attachements in emails.
This is causing huge downtime as the users work a lot on emails and attachments.
    1. Checked the profile of users who are able to open and who are not
able to open and they appear same
    2. PC issue was ruled out as the user who was unable to open the
attachment tried logging into the pc where user was able to open the
attachment , but still could not open the attachment
Can you please suggest what could be the issue.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Monica.

    Hi Monica,
If the authorization check was not problems, and the problematic user tried in a same Internet Explorer with the same settings where another user can open attachments without problems, it's complicated
I would tried to debug a little in the SAP system with the problematic user, trying to get some clues about it. I can point you:
    - The URL that is associated to an attachment is built on iterator class CL_CRMIC_ATTACHMENTS_IT, at method IF_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW_ITERATOR~RENDER_CELL_START. There you have a switch, and when the p_column_key is 'FILENAME', check the value for
lv_row_ref->url. It should be something like this:
    /sap(<COOKIESTRING>)/crm/crm_att_provide?cid=<CONTENT_ID>&content_disposition=attachment
    - When you try to open the attachment, the class that will handle this is CL_CRM_ATT_PROVIDER. Check method IF_HTTP_EXTENSION~HANDLE_REQUEST and debug it's execution.
Check if this helps you a little more...
    Kind regards,
    Garcia

  • How do I open attachments to my emails. What app/prog do I need.

I have just purchased Ipad 2. On receiving emails I find that I am unable to open attachments, either jpeg or video etc.
Spoke to the ipad help line and despite following his directions, apart from googling for info, I am no further forward.
Being a silver surfer and new to ipad, I am now at a loss as to where or what to do to progress. Can you help?

What kind or type of video files and where are they coming from? Videos can be a touchy issue here becasue of video pirating, so to continue to assist you, we need that sort of information.

  • TS3276 i am unable to open web pages from email links on my ipad

I am unable to open web pages from email links on my ipad

A few more details might help, if nobody else recognizes this.
What happens when you try to open the links?
Can you post an example of a link that doesn't work?
Is there any particular source for the mail with the (bad) links, or is mail from all sources failing?
If you happen to know it, what's the format of the mail message?  (Maybe the message is an image?)
Do the embedded links work as expected from an OS X system running Mail.app, or some system and some other other mail client?
To view the link in iOS: if you press on and hold your finger on an embedded link in most contexts, iOS will show a pop-up with the link contents, and will offer to copy it.  You can use that to acquire and post the link.  If pressing and holding on the link doesn't offer the pop-up, the format of the link itself may not be valid, or it might not really be a link.

  • Can not open attachments on recieved emails

Adobe does not allow me to open attachments recieved on emails.

You mean company Adobe does not allow you to open attachments received on emails? Or is it a specific product you're using? Which one, which version (including minor), which platform/OS? Which mail client do you use? Is it Web-based (like gmail)? What is the exact manifestation of your problem? Are attachments that you're getting PDFs? Do you download them to your computer before you try to open them?

  • FF 12 does not open attachments for yahoo email

FF recently updated and since then I have not been able to open attachments in yahoo email.
I know it's FF because it does not happen in IE or chrome.
I have used FF for years and it is my browser of choice. However if I can not address this issue I will have to pick another browser.

#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.

  • Unable to open attachments in my aol email account, i get a run time error. I am able to open them in ie. Also unable to open up a downloaded doc in word.

Since updating to firefox 15. whatever and now 16.0.1, i have been unable to open up any email attachments in my aol email account. I am able to view them via internet explorer. Initially the attachment will open (i can see it) but then a message of "run time error" comes up and when I close that window, the document goes blank. Also, today I clicked on a link via an aol news story and the same thing happened. It went to my firefox downloads, I was able to see part of the document and then that window with "run time error" message in it popped up. Help!!!!

This is a tip I got from ehow.com:
"While less common in Firefox, runtime errors can still occur on that browser. To prevent it from happening again, merely uninstall and reinstall Firefox on your computer."

  • Since downloading Firefox 4, I am unable to open attachments in my Lotus notes e-mail account, but not if I open Lotus notes via Internet Explorer.

I recently downloaded the latest version of Firefox (I have been using older versions for the last two years). However, when using my Lotus Notes e-mail account (through the University of Dayton), I immediately was unable to open e-mail attachments (both new e-mails and older, saved e-mails with attachments that had previously been opened. The word "attachment" appears at the end of the message (in light grey), but does not respond to the cursor. I have delayed working on this problem, because if I open Internet Explorer instead of Firefox, my Lotus Notes account will allow me to view new and past attachments. It seems that the new Firefox has changed some security setting that does not relay attachments with my incoming or stored e-mails. Suggestions--or should I continue to just always open with Internet Explorer?

Maybe the "Remote XUL Manager" add-on mentioned in these threads will help?

  • Unable to open attachments from Exchange

I have recently added two mail accounts to my iPhone one is POP3 and works perfectly; I can view images and attachments as expected. The other is my corporate exchange account. During the initial setup I received a certificate could not be loaded error and was prompted to press cancel or retry I pressed retry and the same message came back, I pressed retry again and the account verified. Mail, contacts and calendar started to sync and I thought everything was going to be fine. When opening emails I noticed that images failed to appear (a link in their place) and while I could see attachments I am unable to open them. When an attachment is selected it appears to be downloading, although the progress bar never makes any progress and just sits on 0kb of ?kb. The message is similar to what you would expect from plain text not HTML. I am able to see the company directory and edit calendar entries and all my contacts have updated just no images or attachments.

Sounds like the attachments were not actually added to the reply, just placeholder text to show there was an attachment.  Mail, for example, inserts such text in replies by default, though you can change that behavior using Edit -> Attachments -> Include Original Attachments in Reply.  Forwarded messages in Mail should include the attachments by default.  Different e-mail clients may behave differently.

  • People unable to open attachments

    Dear all,
I have been having problems where people are unable to open documents that I send them as attachements to e-mails. This appears to only happen when I send them from Mail on my MacBook, but they can open exactly the same document if I log in online to my .Mac mail account and send it from there! Can't quite understand this. The outgoing mail server is set as my .Mac account, although I have also tried using my gmail account as the outgoing server too.
    Any help appreciated

    Conor,
For info about Windows Friendly, see the support article at the link below, which is also found by using Mail Help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/2.0/en/ml1014.html
However, the use of Rich Text is often a separate issue, with some recipients. If you use Rich Text, and also, through the use of a Signature, or other source have more than one font used, then the message is converted to HTML, which in turn can introduce problems for some recipients. When only one font is in use in a message, Mail actually changes the message to Plain Text, on its own, but cannot do this when multiple fonts have been used.
Have you recently changed your Signature, if you use one? Have you caused more than one font to be needed, such as with the use of Reply or Forward?
    More, info, please.
    Ernie
