I am unable to open my Aperture library after my computer crash!!

I get the following error meassage after my computer crashed and now unable to open Aperture library. Do not have any of my photos backed up as yet!!!
"There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/My Passport for Mac/Aperture Library.aplibrary”.

The Crash may have prevented Aperture from closing the Library properly.
Make a backup copy of your Aperture library, before you proceed.
Then try to repair the library using the "Library First Aid Tools":
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
Locate the Aperture library on your My Passport drive, then hold down the Command and Option keys while double-clicking the Aperture library.
Select Repair Database from the First Aid panel.
If that does not help, repeat, but select "Rebuild database".
If you still have prolems, post back and explain, what happened before Aperture crashed.

  • Unable to open a iphoto library after moving to another hard drive.

Due to space issues on my Mac Book Pro, I moved my iPhoto library to an external hard drive. Once the transfer was complete I created a new library and then tried to relaunch the old library off the Ext HD. It now tells me the library is locked or on a locked device or I don't have permission. Neither of the those are in effect. The Ext HD is fine, when I go to Get Info on the iPhoto library it says I have custom access. and the locked box is not checked.
    Any thoughts!?!
    Thanks!
    Kyle

What format is the external drive?  It must be Mac OS extended (journaled) to house the iPhoto library.
I'm not sure what the creation of a new library was about ro where you created it or why
what do you see if you depress the option key and launch iPhoto and use the select library command? Can you access your library on the EHD that way?

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the library....Help!!

    lyssalou,
what is your Aperture version and what is your MacOS X version?
What happened, before this problem occurred? Did you import images, install software, move the Aperture library?
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the library....Help!!
What do you mean by reinstalling the library? Did you reinstall Aperture?
You might start the trouble shooting with using the Aperture Library First Aid Tools - repairing the permissions, repairing the library, and rebuilding, if necessary, see:
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
Before rebuilding the library, make a backup of the Aperture Library, if you do not have one.

I am unable to open my downloaded library books in ADE.  I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and want to transfer the books to a Kobo reader.  Was able to load books perfectly until recently.  I have tried trashing ADE and re-installing but have received the message that the version of ADE will not run with my current operating system.  Tried resetting the Kobo reader and thought maybe it was not authorized but it appears in ADE when I plug it in.  Any help would be greatly appreciated - getting very frustrated!

  • I am unable to open my Photoshop program after installing the entire Creative Suite: Premium Production 6. All other programs work, but with Photoshop it says that the program is "locked or in use by another user". I need this fixed immediately.

I am unable to open my Photoshop program after installing the entire Creative Suite: Premium Production 6. All other programs work, but with Photoshop it says that it "Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file." Then I select "OK" and the next message comes up "Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked, you do not have the necessary permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock this file. I installed all of the programs on the same day from a CD. I need this fixed immediately.
I am not interested in switching to Creative Cloud, so don't even suggest it. I spoke to Mashmi (or something to that effect) on the "Support" Chat and there was absolutely no support. Useless actually.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can't open my photo library after upgrading to iPhoto 11.  is it possible to load iPhoto 9.0.1 after loading 11?  have followed all other instructions but it still won't let me open iPhoto.

can't open my photo library after upgrading to iphoto 11.  Is it possible to download iphoto 9.0.1 after installing '11.  Have followed all the other instructions and am in a loop which doesn't allow me to access iphoto or my photos.

when iphoto wouldnt open we read the trouble shooting info and it said that we may have needed to download 9.0.1 if we had an older version.  We obviously didn't download it before the upgrade and wondered if it would cause problems or indeed solve the problem if we downloaded it now!
When we try to open iphoto is says:
To open your library with this version of iphoto it first needs to be prepared
To prepare the library use the iphoto library upgrader available from Apple.
We have downloaded this twice now and it still sends us this message when we try to open iphoto.

  • I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

    Coastal,
Frank gave you the exact answer to your question.
However, I would like to ask if you are indeed asking the right question.  Do you really want different libraries?  The implications are that you have to "switch" libraries to see what's in the others, and so that your searches don't work across all of your pictures?  If so, then you asked the right question.  If not, you may be more interested in relocating your masters to multiple hard drives so your library gets smaller, instead of breaking up the library.

  • I've moved my Aperture library to another computer, and masters are referencing an old path name.  How can I update these references?  Reloctating masters does not work in this case :(

I've moved my Aperture library from one computer to another using Finder.
I merged the library with one which was already on the computer.
Now, the photos I imported have reference to the old path name on my old computer.
How can I update these references as "Relocate Masters" does not work in this case?

Just one suggestion to be able to reconnect all at once:
Create a smart album containing the images with missing masters:
File -> New ->  Smart Album,     and add a rule: File Status is "Missing"     (or File Status is "offline")
Then select the images in this album and go to the File menu:
and select:   File -> Locate referenced File
If you are lucky, Aperture will reconnect all at once, if you point the first image version to its counterpart.

  • Unable to open the app in ios7 it gets crashed?

unable to open the app in ios7 it gets crashed?

A little more info please. What app is causing you problems? What have you tried to fix it? And what if any error messages do you get?
You might try quitting the app and resetting your iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Missing aperture library after moving it to external HD

My iWeb no longer "see" my aperture library after I moved it to my external HD. my aperture library was getting really large so I moved it off my internal HD to an external HD and now my iWeb doesn't see it.
Is there a way to tell iWeb where my new aperture library is located?
    thanks
    cliff

Only by manually managing the updating. If you have the external why not just locate the iTunes library there? You have the iPod for portability you don't need the library on the Powerbook.

  • How to view aperture library from another computer on network?

    Hi,
I'd like to simply view (not edit) my aperture library from another computer on my home network. The aperture library resides on a mac pro, and I'd like to see the images on a macbook pro to show family members. On the surface, this seems like a simple concept - as Apple TV can do this with home sharing. Further, itunes can share it's library in this manner.  Is this possible?
    thank you,
    T

You don't mention which OS you're using and I understand that Lion has changed some of the sharing features but  what you are looking to do is doable.
Be warned that accessing an Aperture library over a network is slow and definitely not something you want to do if editing except in an emergency and you want to make triple sure that only one user is accessing the library at a time.  But I regularly access libraries over wireless when I'm to lazy to walk across the house and need to check somthing out.
If you are using Snow Leopard go into System preferences->Sharing and tune on file sharing on the the Mac Pro. If you have the same user name on both systems you should have no problem accessing the library from the MBP.
If you're on Lion, you'l need to lok up how to enable file sharing. I haven't swithced so I can;r help you there.
    good luck

  • How do I sync my Ipod to a new library after my computer has crashed?

How do I sync my Ipod to a new library after my computer has crashed?

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
Sync transfer is one way, matching the device content to the content on the computer, except purchased content as mentioned above.  For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing):
    - Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
    - Phoneview - http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
    - MusicRescue - http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/products/musicrescue/ - Mac & Windows
    - Sharepod (free) - http://download.cnet.com/SharePod/3000-2141_4-10794489.html?tag=mncol;2 - Windows
    - Post by Zevoneer: iPod media recovery options - https://discussions.apple.com/message/11624224 - this is an older post and many of the links are also for old posts, so bear this in mind when reading them.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
In general do not regard your i-device as a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining a backup of your media on a computer backup.

  • When opening up a PDF, multiple .part files keep opening on the desktop until my computer crashes.

When I open a pdf file in Firefox, suddenly multiple .part files keep opening consecutively and rapidly until my computer crashes. It doesn't do this when I open up a pdf file in Safari. I'm running it on a MacBookPro with OS 10.5
This issue occurred with an older version of Firefox and also with
    == Operating system ==
    mac os 10.5

Managed to solve this myself. Just went to properties > hidden.
