I am unable to organize my bookmarks

Generally, when I click on the 'organize bookmarks' I get a window that displays all my saved sites and I can then organize them. However, now I simply get a blank window as if I had no bookmarks. The "Bookmarks" on the toolbar appears operational. But the stored sites therein do not show up on the 'Organize Bookmarks' window when I select 'Organize Bookmarks'.
I am not sure if this is relevant, but I recently added the 'CCleaner' software to help clean files. Could something have been deleted?

I do not use CCleaner at present, when I did have it and used IE I think it deleted history but not bookmarks. Have a look and if you have existing .json files which are autobackups of bookmarks copy and save them.
As you still seem to have bookmarks on your toolbar carefully read Lost Bookmarks and any linked articles that are relevant.
Before you start and then while you work to restore bookmarks, if they exist ensure you make manual backups as it is easy to inadvertently overwrite existing bookmarks.

All i'm able to see is the bookmarks stored in the "recently bookmarked". please let me know of a way to get my bookmarks back. also to how enable the "Organize bookmarks".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Can you restore that JSON backup in a new profile?
Did you make sure that it is really a JSON backup and that there is no missing or hidden other file extension?
A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded"
A HTML backup starts with: <!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1>
You can try if you can restore that JSON backup in a new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Please for administration of this support site, make possibility to quote someone's answer, on this way is dificult to answer somebody who wrote some suggestion!

I can't believe that FIREFOX has not good support team, and doesn't care for yours users, this will not give me more reason to use in future firefox
like borwser, if i don't have good support, and when i have problem like this, to loose all my very important bookmarks and passwords on them, and
firefox support won't to help me to solve my problem!
If somebody from firefox support team read this, i can give you Remote desktop access to my computer to try solve this problem, like other serious company

• My favorites have been automatically imported from IE into Firefox, however I am unable to "organize" my favorites in Firefox. What should I do?

My Favorites were automatically imported from Internet Explorer when I started with Firefox, however I am unable to "organize" or otherwise work with or delete any Favorites in Firefox. When I click on "Organize Favorites" only a blank pop-up screen comes up. Please advise as to what I need to do to be able to organize and delete Favorites within Firefox.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

• Unable to rename individual bookmarks

For a month or longer now, I have been unable to rename individual bookmarks. I used to be able to do this so that I could shorten long website titles. But I have not been able to do so recently. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thank you both for the suggestions. My apologies for not explaining the process. I have tried renaming individual bookmarks both by opening "Show All Bookmarks," locating the specific bookmark, and entering the desired name under "Name" (which is located right above "Location"). I have also, as suggested above, sought to rename the bookmark through the window that opens when the Bookmark star is clicked.
I just added a new folder to my bookmarks, and the problem applies to the folder as well. In fact, Firefox seemed to freeze after I added the folder when I tried to assign it a name. I restarted Firefox, the new folder was still there, and I still was unable to rename it from "New Folder."
Thank you for trying to help!

• I cannot find out where to organize my bookmarks in any of the bookmark dropdowns. I can only do it one by one. Is there a way to do mass organization?

Question
I cannot find out where to organize my bookmarks in any of the bookmark dropdowns. I can only do it one by one. Is there a way to do mass organization?
In previous versions you could select organize bookmarks. In this version it is gone. I would imagine that since FF now can sync across multiple devices, the ability to organize from any of those becomes more important. Selecting one bookmark at a time to delete or move is too tedious for people with hundreds or thousands of bookmarks.

The way bookmarks are managed has not changed. You now access to the Library window by selecting Bookmarks > Show all bookmarks from the Firefox menu.
For more info, see:
* Sorting bookmarks
* Bookmark folders
Note: To prevent interferences between versions 3.6 and Beta, use a specific profile for Firefox 4.0 Beta.

• I am unable to add a bookmark to a Safari page on my iPhone 4.

I am unable to add a bookmark to a Safari page on my iPhone 4.  The " " does not appear, so that I can do so.  Is there a fix?

My apology for the typo.  The plus sign "+" was supposed to be in the quotes in the second sentence.

• I don't see "Show all Bookmarks" when I attempt to organize my bookmarks.

The first step to organizing bookmarks is: Click the Bookmarks button and select Show All Bookmarks to open the Library window. I don't see "Show all Bookmarks" when I attempt to organize my bookmarks. My desired end result would be folders followed by individual bookmarks.

@Cuddlebug27
You clearly won't be able to import from something that no longer exists.
Do you perhaps have two computers? If you had Chrome on both and signed in to synchronize them at some point, then you could get your info over from the second device. Otherwise you really can't import from a browser that isn't there.
Also if you usually ran Chrome signed in with an email account, you could try downloading it again and see if your info comes back when you Sign in to Chrome with that account.

• Is there any automatic bookmark-organizer addon for Firefox to organize my bookmarks?

Is there any automatic bookmark-organizer addon for Firefox to organize my bookmarks? Because I have a lot of unorganized bookmarks, and it would take a long time to organize them, considering I now have too many and want to finally sort them... Like a sorter based off of keyword or most used or wikis or blogs or something would be cool. Or something based off of Firefox Internet Dashboard addon (use that as an organizer). Thanks for anyone's help!

There are many. You must decide what is good for you.
Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link}
(There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.
There is also;
Bookmark Duplicate Cleaner {web link}
Scans for bookmark duplicates and allows you to delete them
Bookmarks Checker - check for bad links {web link}
Check favorites for broken or bad links. It checks for bad links and
displays a report if it finds something. Check for 404 links, timeout links.

• How do i organize my bookmarks on android

i have a samsung galaxy tablet. how do i organize my bookmarks?

If you go to the "Bookmarks" section of the "Awesome Screen" then you can press and hold on a bookmark to edit or remove it.
There's currently no way to sort or move bookmarks in Firefox for mobile. If you have Firefox Sync set up, then you can use the bookmark manager on your computer to organize bookmarks inside your "Mobile Bookmarks" folder, and those changes will by synced to your Android device.

• I recently upgraded my Firefox. Since then I've last all my saved bookmarks and am unable to find them. I'm also unable to add new bookmarks.

After upgrading my firefox I have lost all of my bookmarks. I've tried the fixes on your help page and got nowhere. I tried to do a system restore to before the upgrade and it made no difference. Sometimes on this firefox 3.6.10 it will not bookmark pages that I select. I really need my previous bookmarked pages. Please help.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

• I have version 4.0.1 on Linux (Ubuntu 11.4), and the "Import and Backup" button is missing in the "Library" pane, so I am unable to restore my bookmarks. How can I fix this?

I am using an older computer as a dual-boot machine, with XP Pro and Ubuntu 11.4 both running independently on it. On the Windows side, I have Firefox all set up with my bookmarks, which I restored from a backup made on my primary computer. On the Linux side, there is no button available to do this. I have looked up the Help for this, and followed the directions, but the "Library" pane simply does not have any buttons showing, where it should say "Organize, Views, Import and Backup". The buttons are completely missing.

Ubuntu may have moved those three button as well to that control bar.

• Bookmarks have disappeared, and unable to add new bookmarks

My bookmarks have all disappeared, and Firefox won't allow me to add new bookmarks either. I recently updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.10, but the problem only showed up a day later. If I try to restore, it just says, "Firefox unable to process the backup file."
I've tried all the suggestions on the help site, and none of those have worked (I don't have the add-on that causes bookmarks to disappear, I haven't updated from Firefox 3.5 or less, and I don't think Firefox has created a new profile).
Also: when I start up Firefox, it says, underneath the toolbar, "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem." However, I don't have any security software installed. I'm running a Mac.
