  • Unable to create a new calendar

I'm unable to create a new calendar in iCal. If I open the File menu, and hover on "New Calendar", it doesn't display me any options. Nothing happens! See screenshot below:
Anyone have any ideas? I mainly use Google calendars, but I'd like to add a local calendar on my mac.
    Regards,
    Joost

    Fix:
Open iCal preferences, disable all Google calendar accounts. Now I can create a new calendar "on my mac". After creating it I can turn the Google calendars back on and the local calender will stay.

  • How do I sync new iphone  5S that was set up with iCloud

I just upgraded to a 5S from the 4S.  I backed up my old phone using iCloud and used iCloud in my setup on the new phone.  I still need to sync with iTunes to get my Audiobooks onto the new phone.  Currently my iTunes will automatically sync when I connect my old phone.  What happens when I plug in the new phone?  I really only need the audiobooks, everything else is fine.  Also, how do I tell iTunes I no longer have my old phone?

  • I want to share "busy/free" calendars in my new company

Quite simply we have 6 employees (all Apple company MacBooks and iPhones) and we need to share calendars to see availability etc. But we want to have some privacy about what the calendar contains (omitting private appointments, etc). So the ideal scenario would be everyone keeps two (or more) calendars, one company and one personal, a single calendar per person is shared but the personal calendar would show up as untitled/"Busy" events in the shared calendar.
We could even just share a calendar in which everything is marked as "busy" including the business events.
We've looked at Entourage but dislike the package as a whole, but like the scheduling availability option.
So, is something like this scriptable? The closest thing I can find is:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9362909
Searching for "duplicating events" or "copy to new calendar" only pulls up scripts to remove duplicates. Thanks for any help or direction you can give. I've done a couple of applescripts before, nothing quite this complicated though.

  • How do you date and time stamp iCal entries?  We share an event calendar and need to know when a new event was entered into iCal.

    BKBK,
Thank you for your response. That does adequately cover the
client-originated sessions, but still leaves the ability I am
    looking for unavailable.
It did serve to definitively answer my most pressing
    question, however, with this statement:
Note: ColdFusion cannot create a session if an initiator
application uses a SendGatewayMessage method to start an
interaction with a client, such as an SMS user. In this case, the
sending code must keep track (for example, in a database) of the
messages it sends and their destinations. When a response event
arrives, it can look up the origniatorID to determine whether it
was in response to an outgoing message.
I will play around with the Application scope to see if there
might be a workable solution there.

  • Unable to rename calendar/name new calendar "Personal"

    Hello.
I have a calendar that I'd like to rename to "Personal". I'm unable to do it. I can rename calendars to anything else, and I can create new calendars. But the name "Personal" seems to be reserved. Is this by design? is there something I can do to override this?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Close iWeb, delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple. iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, relaunch iWeb and try again. Also repair disk permissions if you haven't done so already.

  • I create a new calendar on My mac and share with my wife's mac.  She accepts the sharing but the calendar doesn't show up on her Calendar or her iPhone.

How can I add a new calendar to my Mac and share it with my wife's Mac.  I execute the normal process and she receives the email and accepts sharing but the new calendar doesn't show up on her mac or iPhone.

    Hi,
I would point out that I did say...
Of course the Contacts List has to have people listed in it.
The Error seems to be that you have not even got an My Card.
The OS when the computer is brand new and you set up the first Admin Account should create at least once Card entry for the Address Book/Contacts which has the Head and Shoulders icon (the My Card)
The does presume the the first account on the Mac doers have a person's First name and Last name to work with.
Of course not everyone sets things up this way.
    Anyhow
To Check the Contacts List open the app.
    Go to the Preferences.
    Go to the Accounts section.
This should list at least two "accounts
One is for Syncing with iCloud and the other is for storing the Info on the Mac itself
In System Preferences > iCloud you can only set up one Apple ID to be the iCloud ID.
If you do or have changed this you may have extra accounts in the Contacts > Preferences > Accounts

  • Unable to share, export or drag and drop

    iPhoto Application (problems just started)
1)Can't drag and drop from library to desk top
    2)Unable to share or export
3)If library photo is double clicked I get a black frame with a "caution" symbol with ! point in center
4)In the picture menu bar there are framed pictures as well as black frames with a dashed white square symbol in center
What has or is happening? Is there any way to correct problem?
Had a recent diagnosis done on IMac. Was told failing power supply and failing hard drive. Have replaced the power supply.
Is above indication of failing hard drive?
Thanks to the Community in advance

    Unlikely.
This is a problem in the LIbrary and not the application. So reinstalling is unlikely to have any effect.
    Try rebuild the Library.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite, I am unable to share screen with Macbook Pro

After upgrading to Yosemite 10.10 on a 2008 MacBook Pro I am unable to "Share Screen" using my authorized user account.  It worked fine before I upgraded to Yosemite.
I can access "Share Screen" by "requesting permission", but of course this doesn't work unless I am sitting right by the MacBook Pro to give myself permission, which defeats my original purpose for using "Share Screen".
I attempted to add another authorized "Share Screen" user account, but was unable to access the list of add "Groups and Users" on the host MacBook Pro from the "Share Screen" dialog box.  The dialog box pops up, when I press "+" to add another user, but the list of users fails to appear.  I assume the list of authorized users for screen share has somehow become corrupt.
All other ways to access "sharing user" accounts appear to be working properly.  I can add and remove other "sharing users" without problems.  For example, I can add a new authorized "file share" user and share files without problems.
I ran Disk Utility in Recovery Mode and normal mode and corrected all errors, and user permissions on both machines.  I also ran "resetpassword" from Terminal in Recovery Mode and "reset" user permissions.  I am not an experienced Terminal or Recovery Mode user though.
I also tried turning the Firewall off, to no avail.
I am attempting to access "Screen Share" on the MacBook Pro via a Macbook Air 13" manufactured mid 2013 also with Yosemite 10.10, however, I also attempted with an older MacBook Air which experiences the same problem.

Thanks for the idea but it did not work, I do not know why it is asking me for a password which I never needed before for a guest to use the computer?  I have tried everything and I do not know which password it wants?   I do not see any option for a password for the guest account, to create one or delete one or modify it?  Maybe this bug\problem will be addressed in a future update?

  • I have 2 auxillary disk drives for my MacBokk Pro. Time Machine uses one for backup and I use the other for storage, but I am unable to create a new folder or drag and drop files or folders to the aux drive.

I am unable to create a new folder on either of my auxillary disk drives.  I can access the files and folders that were there when I transferred one of the drives from a PC.  Time machine uses one for backup and I want to use the other to store photos which are large files.  An help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.  If I reformat the drive will I be able to access the files on it from the MAC.  I do not share the drive with a PC.  The files were originally created on a PC which I no longer use.  I do want to continue to access the files put there by the PC.  I would like to not have to copy them over to the MAC hard drive just to use them.  The second aux drive is new and works fine because it was formatted by the MAC.  I can drag and drop files there and work with just as if they were on the internal drive.

  • New calendar in GCal not adding to iPad/iPhone.

I recently added a calendar to my Gmail account, but the new calendar will not appear on my iPad/iPhone. My other Gmail calendars show, but they were there when I set up the iPad/iPhone initially. Any way to fix this?

Y'all wasting your time with these workarounds. It is not apples problem and its not an Outlook problem its a simple problem w YOUR datafiles!! and it is going to keep on happening until you correct it.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1632805&tstart=0
This does not explain why many Mac users report problems syncing iCal with iPhone after the iPhone firware 2.0 and iTunes 7.7 update. It also does not explain why some users of Outlook 2007 who are using a totally new data file created with Outlook 2007 are also having the same problem.
It's not about whose fault it is, it's about fixing a problem. If there are a lot of iPhone users who are unable to sync their calendars, regardless of the reason, that is a problem for Apple. I'm not saying it's Apple's fault, but it's a problem for them.
Word of mouth has sold millions of iPods and apparently now, millions of iPhones. People are accustomed to having their Apple products "just work". Syncing calendars is something that iPhone users can reasonably expect to be able to do, without having to worry about the data file format or other technical details. I'm confident that Apple will come up with a fix, because I do agree with you that the workarounds are mostly a waste of time.

Assuming you're creating this event to place in your calendar, and assuming this calendar is shared with your iMac and iPad using iCloud, might the calendar be restricted on your iPhone?

My friend and I share an iCal calendar through iCloud.  Until recently, we received email notificiations anytime either of us made changes to exisiting calendar events or added new items to the calendar.  Does anyone know why these email notificiations stopped?

iCloud was experiencing problems with this a couple of days ago, where many users with shared calendars were getting email notifications even though their iCloud settings did not select to receive them.  Perhaps when they fixed this problem it reverted your settings to not receive email notifications.  Got to iCloud and check your setting for this.  If it still look correct, try turning off email notifications, save the change, then turn them back on again and save the change again.

Suddenly today I am unable to view my Google Calendar via Firefox. But I can view it with Internet Explorer. What gives?

I have tried deleting all cookies and cache several times, but nothing works. I can open Google calendar but when I click on any entry I just get a blank box. If I try to make a new event entry nothing happens. Everything works fine in Internet Explorer.
I am really getting tired of constant problems with Firefox. Every week I have something that doesn't work. One time it's downloading videos, the next week music or email, now Google calendar. I am about ready to give up Firefox forever.

The activation server is gone for AA7, but not AA8 as understand it. You will need to do the updates for AA8 to be effective on Win7. It is questionable that it will run on WIn8 (I have no clue for a MAC).
Your conversation is an example of how many of us got here in the first place. It is fantastic that you were able to hold on and get the problem resolved. Not exactly sure of the solution, but there does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel for folks. Normally, with activation problems like yours, we recommend calling Adobe Support for them to reset the activations. I was just wanting to get a heads up about AA8 on the newer systems. Folks have been successrul on Win7 with the updates, but the results for Win8 are still not known in general. There have been some suggestions, but nothing more. As long as it works for you that is great. For our info, what OS are you running?
