I am unable to sign in to imessage on my new iphone 5. Says check network connection
I just got a iphone 5 and I am unable to log on to my apple id. It says check your connection. I have wifi in my house.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Try using wifi orelse first check whether the internet is working or not orelse check whether you haven't selected the 'settting' option under allow internet access in 'cellular'

My network setting are the same for my iphone as well as my ipod touch and I am able to log on on the iphone but not on the ipod. I cannot sign in to face time. it tells me that i need to check my network connection. my network connection is fine as i am able to send and recieve emails from my lap top and i phone. i have made sure that ALL my passwords now include a number and a capital ( as i have two different emails attached to my i tunes account, one of which is my AppleID).
Confused! Even Apple are as i had a consultation with them today and they couldnt help.....

I have won the battle.
right let me tell you what i did and in what order.
First i restored my Ipad 2 to original factory settings, backing up content so i lost nothig.
then i reset my router, this caused me a few probs as i am not that computer savvy and i needed netgear to help me re configure my router.
after a long conversation with apple we came to the conclusion that the passwords were causing the problem.
i spent time explaining to them that when i originally set up my itunes account and then my mobile me account there were no stipulations regarding numbers and capitals in passwords, hence when i got my IPAD my passwords were not "appropriate" even though they were working fine.
I decided to reset ALL my passwords associated with I tunes, mobile me and addle ID to the correct requirements which are; at least 8 figures with at least 1 number and a capital.
I then reset my DNS code on my IPAD to 8.8.8.8
(go to WIFI settings, touch arrow to right of your network and change DNS code)
and voila, it worked.
I would try and sort all passwords out to correct requirements ( one number, one capital the rest can be lower case). then change your DNS code, then try face time.
if that doesnt work then it may be a case of restoring factory settings on your IPad and resetting the router.
I appreciate how frustrating this is as they are not cheap.

"After updating my Apple ID info. FaceTime & iMessage logged out of my Apple ID account on both my iPad and iPhone and are not logging back using the same Apple ID claiming that my user name or password was incorrect?! Surprisingly, it's logged in on both Messeges and Facetime on my Mac. My Apple ID is well and running on my iOS devices for the Appstore and all of my emails are verified with my Apple ID when checked online. I tried logging through a different account, which worked for that account but it didn't allow me back to my initial and primary account, I even tried to edit again some of the information on my Apple ID hoping that it'll allow me to sign in afterwards but with no luck, I tried both WIFI and cellular to connect and it also didn't work. Please help me! I need to sign my iPhone's and iPad's FaceTime and iMessage to my Apple ID again".
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

Make sure you back it up. and I would set up facetime before you reinstall your backup and make sure its working. -

I too faced the same problem . I was using imessage in ios6 and when i upgraded , There were issues like ,
check network connections and Try again . , Connect to itunes for Push notifications . It was irritating and annoying for everyone i guess
Steps to Resolve the i meeage issue
1) Connect your phone to P.C and Back up your datas to P.C via I tunes
2) Once the back up is complete . Connect your phonbe to Wifi or 3G cellular network and Boldly go to Settings-->General --> Reset--> Erase all datas
( Do not worry if you had backed up your datas )
3) Iphone will reboot . it will take some time
4) Then your iphone will start . Click next and you will be prompted for i message activation . Give your apple id and Sign in
5)Keep your phone connected . In P.C you will be prompted if you want to restore ( EOther wise go to I tunes --> File --> Device--> Restore back up
It really worked for me .

I can't sign in to iMessage on my phone. It says "please check network connection" however i can sign into iCloud on my phone & can sign into iMessages from my mac.
Obvvioulsy I've tried a hard reset & I restored my phone to stock yesterday.So, considering there have been 20 odd pages on queries since I posted this I'm guessing I aint gonna get any help here, so does anyone know if it's possible to get help from Apple without having to pay? I cant get to a genius bar. I'm looking for an email address maybe? I've spent hours searching through forums & have scoured Apples support pages & as far as I can tell the only way to get anything from Apple is by paying them - I've had my phone over a year you see.
