I am unable to sync ical to icloud.

I have been for the past 3 hours to sync my ical on my imac to my icloud account. When I log into my icloud account online it shows the calandar as blank.  I have tried to turn on and off the calandar in system preferences (on my imac) mail and in the icloud system preferences and it does not sync up. I have a 2011 imac and lion OSX.
Is this common? I can see my calendar in google docs, on my imac in ical and on my ipad 2. But for some reason my icloud calandar is showing up blank.
I made sure that I have been logging in with the same user name on all accounts.
If anyone has any suggestions or help please let me know.
Thank you!
Shawn

  • Unable to sync Ical from Iphone 4 to MacBook since updating to Itunes 11.

I am unable to sync Ical from my Iphone 4 to MacBook since updating to Itunes 11. (and yes, the Iphone shows up as recognised in the sidebar and will sync Ical from Macbook to Iphone.) All ideas welcome.

If Damon's suggestion of resetting sync history doesn't fix the problem you most likely have a bad contact record in iCal. When they sync encounters the bad record it doesn't know what to do with it so it stops. To fix it you must find the bad record, open it, make a small change, and save it. An easy way to find the bad record is to create a new group and set the iPhone to sync to this group. Put a few records into the group at a time, then sync. At some point the sync will fail or hang. You have then narrowed the problem to a few records.

  • Sync iCal with iCloud Calendar

None of my appointments in iCal show up in my iCloud Calendar. In fact my iCloud Calendar has no appointments in it. I am sure I screwed something up in the coversion and trying to remove all the duplicate entries. In any event, how do I go about syncing forcing the appointments in iCal to show up in iCloud Calendar.

Problem resolved, and I can now see the other replies, strange.
Anyway, make sure you have a back up copy of your address book and iCal. Use the Export feature to make a back up.
This is what I did to finally resolve the problem.
Go into System Preferences and open "Mail, Contacts & Calendars". Remove all accounts, use the - box.
Go into System Preferences and open "iCloud". Make sure that you have the screen that asks you to sign up for an account. DO not do this yet.
Open Mac Mail and Preferences and remove any accouts that are still showing up so your Mail is completely empty.
Reboot your Mac. Check all the above to see if any accounts have been automatically reinstalled or set up. If they have remove them again.
Reboot again and do the same thing. Once no accounts are showing open you iCal and import the file you exported earlier. This will restore all your appointments in iCal on your Mac.
Reboot your Mac. Make sure that all the iCloud and email accounts are not there. I had to do this 3 times, for what ever reason my old MobileMe account continue to be added back to "Mail, Contacts & Calendars". Once everything is clean and you have all your appointments in iCal, reboot again.
Open Preferences and open "iCloud". Add your primary iCloud account and just wait for everything to finish installing. You should see 2 sets of appointments in iCal. Click on the Calendars button in the upper left and uncheck the box under the heading that does not say iCloud. This does not remove any of the appointments it just hides the ones that are on your Mac and then shows the ones that are on the iCloud Calendar.
One last thing. In iCal open Preferences form the iCal dromdown menue. Under the "Default Calendar" option make sure that you have the default calendar related to the iCloud Calendar checked. If you do not when ever you create a new appointment on your Mac you will be creating it in iCal and two things will happen. First all your iCal appointments on your Mac will show up again and secondl, that appointment will not show up in iCloud Calendars so it will not migrate to your other devices.
Apple should give some thought to having the iCal and iCloud Calendars merged so there are not seperate sets of appointments. I know there must be some reason for doing it the way they did but if someone is going to be using iCloud what would be the purpose of having a seperate set of appointments on your Mac that you have to hide and then worry about entering a new appointment that may not migrate to iCloud if you happend to se that appointment up in the iCal list instead of the iCloud list.

  • Unable to sync iCal and mobilme

I performed a sync with mobileme last night and everything synced except iCal. I get the following dialog box.
Calendars could not be synced due to inconsistent data.
Confirm that your computer data is valid, then reset calendars on mobileme in system preferences.
One problem is there is no data in iCal. This is a first time sync.
The second problem is i can't find where to reset calendars in system preferences.
this is a brand new 13 inch MacBook my old G4 PowerBook died.
Thanks for your help in advance.

I have made some progress in my particular situation. I now have stability with iCal desktop. What I did was rename the folder called iCal in Application Support, I renamed it with an x at the end so it would not be used unless I got rid of the x. That way I can easily go back to it. Then I used one of my earlier backups from the apple program Backup, restoring iCal folder in Application Support. I then renamed the folder called SyncServices in Application Support with an x at the end. Then when you just start up iCal it makes a new one. I think that is the culprit of all my problems. And so far all is well. I have not synced iCal to mobile me yet, I may not do it, that is where all my problems began. I don't really use Calendar on mobile me for anything anyway.

  • Unable to sync iCal with iphone 4S

    What a mess!!
I had Mobile me. It worked great. When it was shut down I tried to migrate to iCloud but it didn't work, I guess because I am running Snow Leopard. So I tried to just use iCloud to sync and it didn't work well, I ended up with multiple entries, missing entries, etc. So I scrapped that and went to syncing through itunes. When I upgraded my iphone 3GS to a 4S any old calendars on my mac that were part of mobile me wouldn't sync to the new phone, and I want all my past events there too. So I manually moved all the mobile me calendars in iCal to calendars I created on my mac. I deleted the old, then I redid the colors so that everything would make sense. Certain calendars synced, certain ones didn't, and the issue was not only mac to phone but phone to mac as well. So I manually made sure everything was on my mac and then hit the replace content on this iphone button thinking that it would just put everything back on my phone and now nothing is on my phone! It erased all my entries on my phone. It's all on my computer but nothing will sync to my iphone calendar. This is not what I expect from Apple. I have been a faithful apple user since before OSX, the first ipod, before the imac, and this is a huge problem and one of the main reasons I came to apple to begin with.
Can someone help me!! I need these two to sync for work purposes!

  • Is it possible to sync iCal with iCloud on Lion machines but still subscribe on pre-Lion machines?

I absolutely love iCal, and have a very complicated system set up such that various individuals/computers can access my calendars.  I was thrilled about iCloud, as that mean that I would not have to worry about remembering events until I found myself in front of the "main" machine, but could update iCal from all Lion/iOS5 devices, which are my general working machines.
But, it appears that iCloud has removed my former webcal publishing, and now my pre-Lion machines cannot keep up to date with the calendars.  So, I've done a bunch of investigating, and think I have found a work-around, but I still have a concern about it, and am also wondering if there is a better solution.
So, what I want to do is this:
I have two Macs running Lion (laptop, desktop) and an iPhone running iOS5 that I would like to be able to update calendars from and have it show up on all.  iCloud neatly accomplishes this (whereas before, I had to wait to find myself in front of the desktop, or remember to sync the iPhone).
I also have a plethora of older Macs, owned by myself, people in my group, and my family, that currently subscribe to various webcal addresses to keep up with "Work" and "Home" calendars, on a read-only basis.  The Macs are running anywhere from OS 10.2 to 10.6.  Upgrading to Lion is *not* an option -- first of all, they're not all my machines, and second of all, some are truly old (10.2 is running on a G3 -- yes, a G3, still in working order and completely fit for its purpose, with no plans to update until the machine physically stops working, but 10.2 is the most recent OS it can run).
The work-around I found is this:
I set the iCloud calendars to share with "everyone" which provides me with a webcal address that I can send to people and tell them to subscribe to it in their iCals.
    My concern is:
I am concerned about the "everyone" sharing:  I previously used a prviate, password-protected third party webcal pubishing service.  The URLs the everyone-sharing produces look complicated enough that it is unlikely that anyone would "guess" it, but is possible to browse public iCalendars somewhere?  The information in the calendars isn't hugely sensitive, but some of it is private enough it would cause a stink if some people blundered across the "Work" calendar, and perhaps some embarrassment if others found the "Home" calendar (especially as work people will know I am using this method).  Does anyone know how easy it is to access these calendars if you have not been provided the URL by the publisher?
And finally, is there  a better solution?  Ideally, I'd have password-protected webcal sharing.  It looked to me that the "only with people you invite" choice requires people to both have an iCloud account, and then use an iCloud enabled OS in order to get it into their iCal, which won't work with the pre-lion machines.  But perhaps I am wrong about this?

Sharing (not publishing) can be done privately - which requires the recipients to have an iCloud account - or publicly. As you say, this means than anyone who knows the URL can subscribe: but there's no published list of calendars, people who don't know the URL would have to guess it so the chances of them finding it are fairly low.

  • Mac Book Pro won't sync iCal with iCloud

    Hi
I'm running a Mac Book Pro (10.7.1) an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4. Both of the latter devices have been updated to IOS 5.
I'm a long standing MobileMe customer and I've been switching to iCloud today.
Generally things have gone smoothly. iCal was transferred from MbMe to iCloud without a hitch. Both the iPad and the iPhone were easy enough to switch across. And having done some tests now whenever the iCloud calendar  is updated it appears on the portables and vica-versa.
However - iCal on the MBP isn't happy.
When I open it a pop-up appears saying "iCal can't log in to your "*****@me.com" account because your password may be incorrect". There's a button that then invites me to go to "MobileMe prefs" to address the issue. I do this. And several times I've signed out and signed back in using the correct user name and password.
The Account Status says " Your MobileMe account has been upgraded to iCloud". So, it seems that the password isn't an issue. However, iCal keeps telling me it is.
(Also, have just tried creating a new address on the MBP and another on the iPad - iCloud instantly reflected the latter but not the former. ie. it seems that the MBP isn't syncing to the cloud at all).
    Any help/suggestions gratefully received.
(also, for your ref. I run Little Snitch - but I'm pretty sure it's not blocking anything)
    Thanks
    Ewan

Little Snitch...  that is most likely the problem.
Nothing positive... LS has caused many a Mac user headaches.

  • Unable to sync device wit iCloud - No error message

    Hi,
After the last update to iTunes i've been facing a lot of problems syncing my iPhone.
1st it was with "Back up to Computer" (https://discussions.apple.com/message/18221957?ac_cid=142432#18221957?ac_cid=142 432)
Now the problem has spread to "Back up to iCloud".
I'm using an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 and recently upgraded my iTunes to 5.6.1. My iTunes is not backing up to iCloud and i have to do it manually from my phone which is a pain as i have to remember to do it all the time and can't rely on iTunes.
When I hook my phone to the comp the sync takes place but the "Last backed up to iCloud" date and time does not change. If i use my phone to back up (Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Back up Now) then itunes automatically updates the "Last Backed up to iCloud" date and time.
    Any help or advice anyone??
    Thanx in advance!
    Regards
    Sushant

Experienced User Terrell Smith recently posted on this Error Code:
    Terrell Smith:
"Today I was in an Apple Store, and four Apple Geniuses could not solve this problem. It seems to have something with large iPhoto Libraries, because when I started iPhoto up with a small library (1,100 photos), the problem did not occur. In iTunes, under the Photo's option "Sync Photos," if the iPhoto library is large (38,000 photos), the option to select the radio button "Selected albums, Events, and Faces" is grayed out, and you cannot select it.
My guess is that since the large iPhoto library will not fit on your iOS device, iTunes throws the 1140 error.
As others have noted, if you uncheck "Sync Photos" in iTunes, the rest of things will sync instead of throwing the 1140 error message.
But you don't have synced photos then.
The Apple Store told me they have no solution for this error. We should file iPhoto Feedback, and that this issue has been escalated to Apple Engineering."

  • Unable to sync iCal & Treo 650

    Hi,
I seem to be having difficulties with syncing my Treo 650 Calendar events with iCal and vice-versa via iSync.
There does not seem to be any problems with Addresses.
    Any tips please?
    Thanks!
    MacBook2,1, 120GB HDD, 2 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I did the same thing to solve the problem as I have a PB that I used to sync with the Treo 700p I have and through the .Mac account I keep them al happy. If you sync in Leopard you my lose all your address book on the Treo which happened to me a couple of times until I really understood what was going on. But, Apple isn't fixing this as I stated in another thread I created on the subject:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5785468#5785468
I subsequently found out that the Palm OS synching conduit is stil there in Leopard's iSync 3.0 but is now unpredictable.
