I am unable to sync my ipod nano to my itunes.

I am unable to sync my ipod nano to my itunes. I have windows 8 and have updated everything on my computer and followed all of the tutorials for syncing. My ipod is recognized and my itunes says "ipod sync is complete" but I dont have any music on my ipod still... Help Please!

You probably need to set up automatic syncing.  If you have not set up anything to sync, iTunes will still sync, but sync nothing.
If you "updated everything," you probably have the new iTunes 12.  Connect the iPod.  Look on the horizontal bar that goes across the iTunes window (near the top), and click the "device button" (it looks like the connected device).  This shows the iPod's "management" screen.
In the sidebar (along left side of window), under Settings, click Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.  Check the box for Sync Music, which enables automatic syncing for Music.  NOTE:  If that was box not checked already, and you manually added songs to the iPod previously, any songs on the iPod now that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.
Below that, if your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on your iPod completely, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.
Otherwise, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, select what you want to sync from the lists of playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  The "capacity bar" at the bottom of the screen shows you how much space on the iPod you are using.  A convenient way to do this is to first create one or more playlists in your iTunes library, and put only the songs you want on the iPod on those playlists.  Or you can use existing playlists.  Then, on the iPod's Music screen, only select (checkmark) the those playlists, under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your iPod based on your selection on the iPod's Music screen.  Going forward, changes in your iTunes music library sync automatically to the iPod (based on how you set up the iPod's Music screen).  If you selected playlists to sync to the iPod, to update songs on the iPod, just update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes.

You may want to reset warnings on the device by right->clicking on it under Devices and choosing Reset Warnings.  Then resync the iPod to see if any alerts appear.
Is this the same computer you normally sync the Nano with?

You would be better off posting in the iTunes for Windows forum area since your issue is with that rather than an iPod Nano.

I have added some new music to my itunes, attempted to syn my ipod nano and instead of adding the music it has completely emptied ALL of the music off my ipod! I have made several attempts - doing what I have always done to add music, but to no avail?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?

  • I'm unable to sync my ipod nano

This was a gift in January and I still have not been able to transfer from itunes to ipod nano after many many attempts and searches for assistance.
As my first Apple device I'm really unimpressed - extremely slow on itunes which appears to clog up my whole operating system.
In addition - browsing films advertised as 'under £5' I find several are priced way above this.
And what is all this nonsense with signing in TWICE to get to this support forum?!
I couldn't care less about having secure access to the Apple Support Forum - what exactly are you trying to create here? Some sort of privileged access?
I don't think so - it just adds another, very deep, layer of frustration to a customer's attempting to get help.
So after all that am unimpressed and who can advise me on how to get this b****y thing to work?!

How does your "Windows password" get involved in using your iPod nano?
An iPod nano is not linked to iCloud.  It is associated with your iTunes library on your computer (Mac or Windows PC).  So, I don't understand how iCloud is involved in using your iPod.
If some of the content you want to sync was purchased from the iTunes Store AND it is copy-protected (uses DRM), you need to authorize your computer for the Apple ID (not iCloud) used to make the purchase.  Is this the problem you have?

  • HT201272 How do I sync my ipod Nano with my itunes account

I recently found my old ipod Nano and I want to sync it with my itunes account but I am having trouble.

What problems are you having ? You should be able to sync your content to it by connecting it to your computer and selecting it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (on iTunes11 you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC) and then using the tabs on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to sync your content to it

In terms of the page that you posted from for redownloading content, then what you can redownload with depend upon what country that you are in (not all content types can be redownloaded in all countries), and whether they are still in the store (content providers occasionally remove their items from sale). What you can redownload will show under the Purchased link Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.

I just downloaded songs to itunes for the first time with the intent of syncing my new downloads to my ipod nano.  My ipod nano is not showing up as a device - not on my computer or in itunes.  Apparently my computer recognizes it because it can charge via the USB port.  I have tried on both my mac and pc- windows xp.  So what the heck?
