I am unable to uninstall Itunes 9.1.79, nor install Itunes 10.2.2

When I upgraded my computer, I installed what was supposed to be the 64 Bit version of Itunes. It said I needed to install the 64 Bit installer. Now it will neither run, uninstall, or let me install the same or the later version. Have tried deleting Itunes, uninstalling it, and nothing seems to work. Also uninstalled (successfully)  QuickTime.

Good lord. Sorry Bob, I only just realised we've already talked about this over at the other thread. (I even thought here "oh, someone else called Bob" without realising it was the same Bob.)
So it's the PC Mover thing we discussed over there (where PC Mover has jammed a 32-bit version of iTunes on the 64-bit system, and that can't uninstall itself from the 64-bit system). Do check in with the PCMover folks to see if they've got a better solution nowadays than a total revert of the migration, and then a remigration (this time without migrating across any of the 32-bit iTunes-and-associated-software-components).

  • During a error updating, I had to reinstall iTunes. When proceeding to install iTunes, the installer chooses M:// I dont have a M drive, I click change and the iTunes installer crashes. I've tried everything, help!

Seriously no idea whats going on, and I'm usually pretty good with figuring an issue
    Heres the isse:
When updating iTunes, after the restart I booted up iTunes and it crashed. I was prompted with iTunes had been updated incorrectly and to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. After downloading the installer from itunes.ca. I opened up the application, and clicked Next. Under the directory it says M Drive, I dont have an M drive at all, I click change and a prompt pops that says, "The volume M:/ is currently unavailable. Please select another." with "ok" being the only selection.
After hitting ok, it says "itunes installer completed" "Errors occured during installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again. Click Finish to exit the installer." Finish is the only selectable, and upon restarting the installer the same thing happens. I hope theres someone who can help me out with this.

  • ITunes doesn't appear after installing iTunes 7.6

I posted this earlier in the topic "Itunes installation headache" (because my problem looked very similar), but I got an email that I should open my own topic (because this post was deleted). So here it is!
I already got a respons about deleting the threat "Trackware.SAHAgent". And I tried to follow the instructions, but I couldn't find any of the subkeys on my computer which where named in the article. So I'm going to ask a friend to check if I did it right, just to be a 100% sure. But for now my question still remains, so read below please.
I think I've got the same problem with iTunes. Two days ago I updated my iPod (classic). After the update my iPod wouldn't synchronize with iTunes anymore, because it required iTunes 7.6. I had iTunes 7.4.3, which never worked completely perfect. (The error "iTunes might be unable to launch or communicate with iPod or iPhone" appeared, even after I followed the instructions online, but I didn't bother me, because the rest of the program worked just fine.)
So to synchronize my iPod again, I downloaded and installed iTunes 7.6. The screen with "Congratulations, the installation is complete etc." appeared and I tried to run iTunes, but it didn't appear and there were no errors. The weird thing is, that when I tried to shut down the computer I received a message that iTunes is running. (I don't have problems with Quicktime, by the way)
I tried the following things, but iTunes still won't work:
    open iTunes manually
    deleting SC Info
using the microsoft clean up tool
reinstall iTunes after deleting iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Mobile Device Support and Apple Software Update
    switching to Selective Startup
running iTunes in a new user account (wasn't able to open iTunes there either)
So I runned the virus scan online. It only detected one threat named: "Trackware.SAHAgent". I couldn't find the removal information on the symantec site, so I only deleted the .exe file which was infected. I don't know if that was a smart move, but nothing changed.
What should I do to get iTunes running again? I really need 7.6 to run, because trying to reset the settings on my iPod didn't work either. So reinstalling iTunes 7.4.3 isn't an option, because my iPod won't synchronize then.
I hope that someone has a solution.
(by the way: I also opened a MP3 file just to try if music start playing even when you can't see iTunes, but it remained silent.)

I have the same exact problem.
(Except I have recently run a virus/malware scan and I do not have the same virus/malware you appear to have)
    I need help too please!

  • ITunes telling me to re-install iTunes when I connect my iPhone.

I couldn't find the proper solution for this, I'll play around with iTunes a little but in the mean time I'll ask the question here, maybe I'll get a decent answer.
The problem is, when I connect my iPhone to iTunes, I get an error telling me to re-install the 64-bit version of iTunes, which I have done multiple times.
I'm trying to find solutions on google, but I cannot find ANY solutions. I've found a toping saying you have to uninstall all apple programs, and then reinstall iTunes, I'll try that. If you know the solution on are experiencing the same thing, please let me know and I'll share the solution with you (if I find any).

  • My iTunes says "This version of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes." If i re install itunes, i have to delete my existing one. Will that delete my audio that i did not purchase from the store?

I know i will be able to search through my laptop's files to find my music but they are all scattered and it would probably take a few weeks to find it all.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

I recieved an apple ipod touch 32g for christmas and am unable to use it because I can not install iTunes.
I've tried following all the suggestion on other topics with similar problems.
Ive deleted Temp files and tried to install, Uninstalled all apple software from my computer and tried to reinstall. None of these worked.
I've also tried making a new user account and installing it there, and that hasn't worked either.
The error I am receiving is "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I also received the error when i attempted to uninstall Apple Software Updater when i was troubleshooting. I got a fatal error trying to repair it and then i restarted my computer and it wasn't on my installed programs list anymore.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

That suggests we've got trouble with the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi (and related installation configuration information) on your PC.
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Software Update* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try reinstalling iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)
