The password for your Apple ID will always be the same irregardless of what email address it is linked to, that is unless you change the password. You can change the password for your Apple ID and the Primary email address used for your Apple ID for Apple to contact you and I suggest you do that ASAP (and it should of been done before you abandoned that original contact email address).

You can't delete an existing account, you can only choose to stop using it. It will still be there should you decide to use it again in the future.

And it was your wife's Apple ID that was used to download and install the Yosemite you are using on this computer? If so then I suggest you need to contact Apple to get his straightened out.

I am trying to delete the iCloud account on my iPhone that is associated with an old email address no longer in use, so I can set it up with my new email address. I am unable to delete the account until I turn off "Find my iPHone" which it won't let me do unless I log in under the old email address..... Problem is, I don't remember the password for the old address/account. It is no longer functional so I cannot request a reminder. I've already updated my iTunes/Apple ID with my new email address. If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

Go to
Settings---> Mail, Contacts, Calendars---> scroll down to Contacts to make sure that "My Info" is really your's and not your wife's.
If that doesn't work, go onto a computer and...
icloud.com (sign in)---> Mail---> Little gear in lower left corner of the screen---> Preferences---> Accounts---> Full Name

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

Change Apple ID. I changed my Apple ID email to a new one but iCloud continues to prompt me for a password with my old email address. How do I change that? It won't let me even delete or access iCloud without a password for the old Apple ID.

When I got the iPhone about 4 weeks ago, I used an email for the apple ID and set it all up. Then I changed my Apple ID but now iCloud constantly prompts me with my old apple ID. How do I change this? I cannot make any changes to all the things I downloaded with the old Apple ID. I just updated my software to iOS7. I'm not sure if that changes anything (I am very new to the iPhone)

I had this problem for a while but i finally found a way that worked for me.
My old icloud account asked me for the password that i didnt have. And my old email was not registered as a valid appleid.
So i created a new apple id with my old email and a new password. Signed in no problems and then i could finally delete the old icloud account and sign in with my real one.

You need to do the following:
1.     Go to Manage Your Apple ID https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
2.     Sign on with your current Apple ID and password
3.     Change your Apple ID to the old email address, but do not verify it - Save Changes
4.     Go to Setting>iCloud on your iPad, and scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Delete Account
5.     It will ask you for your password to turn off Find My iPhone, type in your current password
6.     Delete iCloud account
7.     Go back to Manage Your Apple ID and sign in with the changed ID and current password
8.     Change your Apple ID back to your current ID - Save Changes
9.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your current Apple ID
You should be all set.
