I am unable to update firmware so as to install na...

Hi I live in Barcelona spain and bought a new 5800XM for christmas. As soon as I saw the new free navagator I tried to install, but it says that it needs latest firmware 31.0.008 or onwards, so I duely try to update my phone, I download the nokia software updater, conect my phone and it then tells me:-
Firmware version
Current 25.0.025
Update 25.0.025
Help, how can this be when I see people have v40... What am I doing wrong, I read someones feed saying I must wait wait and wait for my operator to update... Is this true, does this not com from nokia.... Thanks for any insight.

@Chetan - that would be pointless. First of the hard reset you mentioned is impossible on the 5800, as it is a touch screen phone. Second, even if you hard reset it a zillion times and reinstall software updater the same number of times, if the handset's product number is still not supported (due to either branding or regional issues), he will not get the update.

Hello, I've got an 8gb Zen.
Always worked fine til I tried one of those hand crank chargers, since then I turn it on and it will freeze on the rebuilding screen.
Ran scandisk on it - no joy.
Wanted to try and update firmware to see if that helped but it will not connect to computer via USB. It will charge from the usb but just not connected, nothing.
    Any help appreciated. Thank you

QRe: Rebuild screen freeze - unable to update firmware as not docking. Help please? So, it freezes on the rebuilding screen after formatting? It is very odd. Just to make sure... you have formatted (not cleaned up) the device from the Recovery Mode menu, right?
My only suggestion now is trying to mount the device on another computer (try one with a BSD or Linux operating system) and format it from here. With some luck, you should be able to see it as a new USB dri've. I am suggesting one of these operating systems, as you have a chance to mount your player on them even if it does not boots up properly. (I did it to recover mine just before suspecting there was a discrepancy on the FATs stored of the filesystem.) In your case, you will have a chance to format the device (using a FAT filesystem, of course) from these operating systems. I am, however, surprised to see that the Recovery Mode format function does not do its work on your player.
If your device does not boot up and freezes on the scanning/rebuilding processes there is a chance you have a problem with your filesystem instead of a fried USB port. So, there is a chance you can fix this device yourself yet.

I have an iPod Touch which I've had for almost 4 years, with 32 GB of memory. I am unable to update it, and consequently cannot install any newer apps. I am very disappointed that I spent a lot of $$; now Apple wants me to spend $$ again to get a new one. As I mentioned, I am pretty upset. Does anyone know if there's a work around?

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • RV082 v1 unable to update firmware

So I have the RV082 router.  I had it with a 1.x version of the firmware for a while and I was able to update to the first 2.x version of the firmware a few months ago.
This router is fairly old but works ok.  I like to keep it up to date.  I recall always looking for firmware updates and not seeing any, then out of no where there are 3 updates to the software.  I was able to install the second 2.x version of the firmware.  Now I was trying to catch up and install first: 4.1.1.01 and then 4.2.3.03.
I have downlodad both files multiple times and have been unable to update the firmware.  It always says secure connection failed.
If it helps I am using ubuntu 14.04 and the lates version of firefox 36.x
I don't know if anyone has had the same issue or if they have any sugestions on how to make this work.
I would rather install alternative firmware but since it is an intel chip inside, not many people are writing firmware for a router like this one.  I dropped all of my other linsys/cisco routers (about 6 of them) except this one.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    > I have downlodad both files multiple times and have been unable to update the firmware.  It always says secure connection failed.
I hope this is caused by requirement of HW version by these new firmwares. As you mentioned, you owns device with HW version 1. According download page it is clearly stated ("V3 hardware required"), that all never firmware versions than 2.0.2.01 requires HW version 3 of unit. I am afraid there is no newer firmware version for V1 HW version of RV082 than you already have installed.

  • Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7): unable to update firmware under Vista

    Hi,
I tried tp upgrade the firmware of my HD-DVD drive (SD L802B) with the new TO35 firmware, but it is not possible. The upgrade button of that Winvup is not selectable. I had the same problem with an older firmware, but i just thought this was because the firmware was up to date ( notebook is 1 month old).
Winvup displays my drive as "TOSHIBA DVDW/HD SD-L802B TO01 (10/26/07)". The discription of To35 says, it needs a version of TO33 or T034, is that the problem?
I got this firmware update form [Link to firmware|http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=DE&mode=allMachi nes&action=search&teddProduct=737]
so it should be the right one.
So what can i do to upgrade my drive? Currently watching a HD DVD is not possible :(
    Thx,
    Holger

Its not possible to update the firmware on your SD-L802B drive because the firmware released on the Toshiba page was deigned for the TS-L802A drive.
Don't mix these both drives! It's not the same!
I found this website about SD-L802B Super-Multi DVD Writer
    http://www.storage.toshiba.eu/index.php?id=3&pid=221
But according to this page the firmware is not available for this driver ( at this time ?:| )

  • Unable to update firmware on 5230.

hey, I have a nokia 5230 with the current firmware version V10.0.071.
As far as I know, there are 2 ways to update the firmware on this phone: directly from the phone and through ovi suite. Neither of these ways work for me.
firstly on the phone: as far as im aware, there would be an application called SW update in the applications folder on my phone and I could update through that. On my phone there is no such application. When I search for it in help there is an article about it as well as a link to the application but when I try to use the link it says that the application cannot be accessed.
When I try through ovi suite (I tried version 3.0 and the beta version 3.1) I get a problem as well. I use the softwave update feature and it starts, I choose the software and it backs up my phone and downloads the software. Then when it starts installing, it says 15min remaining, and all of a sudden my phone turns off and doesn't turn back on. Then the installation on ovi suite gets interrupted with a "device recovery" error and tells me that "nokia ovi suite lost connection to your device" and gives me some steps to follow. (remove cable, restart device return cable) then click OK to continue but the same thing happens again. I have tried turning of my comp and removing the phone battery as well as restoring factory settings.
The main reason I wanted to update my firmware is because most songs in my playlist don't play but the player just skips them (it gives the info about song length)m there are also exclamation marks next to the song icons (the songs worked before).
This problem seems to have been reset with the factory reset tho however no luck with software.
Sorry for a lot of text.. And if anyone has any ideas please let me know!

The songs with the exclamation marks are corrupted files. You need a new card or something, or at least format the thing. If you would look at your song folder in a PC, you would see that the files of the songs with exclamation marks are missing.
Also, since your memory card is faulty, you should update the device with a formatted card, or the card removed.

  • E52 unable to update firmware - connection lost

When I use the E52 Device Manager control panel to check for new software updates it informs me that a new version of the firmware is available "v.022.009", I select "Accept" to download the update and the display stays on the "Downloading" screen without indicating any progress and then eventually says "Connection lost during download".
I'm using a WiFi connection to the internet.
Any ideas as to why the update will not download?

Are you using Nokia PCSuite with Software updater? Connect with a compatible USB cable. That's the best secure way to perform an update.

  • Unable to update firmware on HP 8600 Officejet Pro Premium

I just discovered today that there is a newer version of the firmware CLP1CN1322CR, which was released
    7/18/2014.
I already have an earlier version of that same firmware installed.  It was released last year (date unknown), and I installed it on 9/19/2014.  Doing so added, among other things, the Wireless Direct feature.
    1. I attempted today to install the version released 7/18/2014.  It failed, with the dialogue box Status showing "Up to date."
    2. Is there any additional benefit to upgrading this firmware on this printer?  If so, what are they and how can I perform the upgrade, considering that the firmware has the same ID but a later release date?  Would I need to downgrade the firmware with the original version that came with the printer (CLP1CN1150CR), then perform the upgrade?  (I looked everywhere for the original version, but could not find it.)
    Additional info:
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit.
    Connection: Wireless Direct
    All printer functions work flawlessly.
Printer plugged directly in to the wall.
    Thanks.

Yes that is correct. So the version you have is the newest. There is another code you may see posted on the forums, but although it appears to be a newer version it is not, it is simply the same version that was obtained through the Web Service menu rather than the HP Website.
Is there anything else I can help with?

  • Linksys srw2048 unable to update firmware via xmodem (using hyperterm)

I have three srw2048 series switches at my new job. One updated fine via the web interface the other two (after I found a windows machine to use the web interface) looked as though they were uploading the new file but after a reboot I was still on the old verison. So I broke out the console cable. What I have done is to Download Software to the switch (option 1) this kicks me over into xmodem. Once I am in xmodem I choose to send a file (the latest rom) using the 1K Xmodem protocol it immediately gives me retries and errors until it reaches a threshold that ends the session. During this whole process zero k is transferred.
    Boot Version 1.0.0.04
    Software Version 1.0.0.49
    Hardware Version 00.03.10
The only thing I can think is that I must need older files to upgrade to an intermediary version before loading the latest 1.22 rom file.

You might want to pose this question in the Linksys forums at http://homecommunity.cisco.com/
Also, try another terminal program like Teraterm Pro.  Maybe it needs "classic" xmodem?

  • Can't start from OS 9 to update firmware, so can't install Tiger

I have an iMac DV, which has been upgraded several times. Recently, I purchased 128mb of RAM as well as OS 10.4, Tiger. Tonight I successfully installed the RAM, and I'm attempting to upgrade to Tiger.
When I put in the installation CD, it asks me to update my firmware before installing. I figured out what that means, and downloaded the appropriate firmware. I then discovered that I had to start up in 9 to update that. Fine, no problem, I set my computer's start disk to OS 9.
Well, I'm getting an error message that is telling me that "this model" cannot start in 9. I know that can't be true, because it originally came with 9, and I can use the Classic environment.
What is going on here? Is this a RAM issue? I've never installed RAM before, so I'm new to this. Do I need to remove the RAM, start up in 9, upgrade firmware, then put the RAM back in to install Tiger? Would that work?? Help!!

    Hello, Heidi.
I am afraid I am not helping much, just trying to get a better understanding of the current status of the machine.
    1.
“System Folder” is your installation of OS 9. “System” is your installation of OS X.
Your “System Folder” is blessed because it shows the gold 9. In addition, two really important parts of OS 9 are where they should be.
So, the question remains: why won’t the iMac start up in OS 9?
    2.
If I don't need to update my firmware, then I really have no reason to start up in 9.
Boot ROM version 3.0f3 confirms that you must update the firmware to 4.1.9 when running from OS 9.
    Two things to check:
    • I set my computer's start disk to OS 9.
When in Startup Disk, what folders are displayed? Any chance you have two OS 9 icons showing? Does an OS 9 System Folder show a gold 9?
    • Repair Disk.
I don’t know how this specifically works in Jaguar, so launch Disk Utility and search using the Help menu.
Basically, you will need to start up from the OS X 10.2.x install disc, choose Disk Utility under one of the menus at the top of the screen, select the First Aid tab, and select the volume you want to repair.
Remember: You want to run Disk Utility, not install an operating system.
If errors are reported, run Repair Disk 3 or 4 more times to see if they are fixed. “Appears okay” is the most positive report you can receive.
If Disk Utility reports errors and cannot fix them, write down the message word for word and post it here.
An important question: Is everything you can’t afford to lose from your hard drive backed up and tested to ensure that it is in good shape and accessible?
    Sincerely,
    No Alibi.

I guess the main problem is that it'll take much more time, without any benefits, because the nearest mirror are generally the fastest. Am I wrong ?
Though, there are probably some regions that are not well deserved (not much mirrors, and of poor quality), in this case you might want to extend it a bit. But mirrors at the opposite of the globe are generally not very fast
you'd be surprised. Here in Australia, there's an irish mirror I get great speeds from, despite ireland being literally on the other side of the planet. Yet closer neighbors, like japan, and some south east asian countries, I get terrible speeds.

  • Must update firmware before installing OSX Tiger on OS9

I'm trying to bring an iMac G3 with OS9 to life. It's brand new, never been used before, and doesn't yet have internet. I will get internet (Airport Card) soon, but first have a software update problem.
After starting the iMac, I have inserted the install DVD for Tiger. The computer says it must restart to install, and when it restarts, the computer says it must update firmware before installing. I have to choose a system with which it will start up and my choices are:
    OS9: Hard Drive
    OSX: Install DVD
My 3rd option searches for a location, and ends up restarting in OS9.
Every option either results in the inevitable error message that the firmware needs updating or using the OS9 environment.
I read Apple support saying that firmware needs to be updated to fix this problem. Support suggests updating firmware from the OSX install DVD, but I haven't found such updates on the DVD, and need to overcome the firmware problem.
Please help, I am anxious to use my computer!
    Thank you!

    Hi, Kristine -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
You can download the firmware update you need from either of these Apple KBase articles -
Article #58174 - iMac: When to Install Available Updaters
    Article #86117 - Firmware Updates
In order to install the firmware update, the machine must be booted to OS 9 on its internal hard drive. It's a good idea to have no external devices connected when you do it, other than the keyboard and mouse. If you can, print out the ReadMe that accompanies the update.
