I am unable to upload my book to iPhoto

I have been trying to upload my photo book to iphoto. I show I am connected but I am unable to choose a quantity or sign on. I have DSL. This is the first book I have compiled on the new imac and I have never had any issues on our older imac or ibook. I am also having the same issue with ordering prints.

I am having the same problem. I had the ability to choose the number of books and then had an error message. Now, my number of books are grayed out. Does anyone know if this error is related to a maximum number of pages? If so, what is the maximum number of pages?

  • Unable to create a book in iPhoto

    Hi,
I am unable to create a book in iphoto.  I have created a number of books before, however, now when I choose a theme and click ‘create’ nothing seems to happen.  When I exit out of iPhoto and load it again, my book appears under the Albums heading, instead of the usual Projects heading.  Then when I click on the book, it just shows a blank screen (if I have created an empty book) or just the photos, rather than the album pages.
    iPhoto '11 (9.2.3), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Do the following to your problem library:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • Unable to create a book in iphoto '08

I am unable to create a book in iphoto '08. When i click on the book icon down the bottom and choose a type of book then click on 'choose' nothing happens.

1 - delete the current application (just got to applications and delete it? What happens to the photo library??)
Nothing - reinstalling will not effect it
BUT as always when doing installations and upgraded - and at all other times too - you mush have a good, tested, current backup of your system including the iPhoto library - stuff does happen
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto (is this the OS install disc? I have a disc 1 and disc 2) or can I do this from my iLife '08 software?
If you have purchased iLife '08 then you will use the iLife disk to install iPhoto - if you are installing the one that came with your computer you will use the restore disks that came with your system - do a custom install and install bundled software only - or click here for the MacWorld article on this subject.

  • When I finally 'upload' a book from iphoto my computer freezes.  Can you help?

When I finally 'upload' a book from iphoto my computer freezes.  Can you help?

Boot into Safe Mode and try again.
    If that doesn't work:
Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

My computer freezes up when trying to upload photo book from iPhoto '11. This happens during the upload process.
When this happens I need to close down the computer and restart.
    Any ideas ?
    I've got Mountain Lion running.
I'm on a 13" white MacBook with 8GB RAM installed.
I recently had a 1 TB hard disc installed at the Apple store.

    can you preview it? -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
If that works fine and you still have problems boot into safe mode and try again

  • How to upload a book in iPhoto 9 to Mobile me

Does anyone know if there is a way to upload a book, presently in iPhoto 9, to my Mobile Me site ?
What I'm trying to do - to share my book of vacation photos in the book with some friends.
I know that I can upload a slideshow to my Mobile me site - but would prefer to share the book .
    Any ideas appreciated ??
    TIA
    Graham

Yes, there is a way to do what you want:
1 - while in the book mode start a print routine and use the PDF->Send PDF to iPhoto menu option.
This will create a jpg of each page and import them into a new album in iPhoto.
2 - Immediately batch rename the pages via the Photos->Batch Rename->Title to Text and enter "Page" in the text field and check the number box. This will rename the pages to Page - 1, Page - 2, etc.
3 - put the book into an album and create a MobileMe gallery and publish. This will put your book online in a MobileMe gallery.
Or you can create an iWeb site with an iWeb slideshow of the book pages as shown in this demo page: iPhoto Book as an iWeb Slideshow.

  • Unable to make a book in iPhoto 8

I have been trying to make a book in iphoto and when I click on the "Book" button, the window opens to choose the type of book, but all the options are grayed out. I've tried reinstalling iphoto but still the same problem. Is this because the iPhoto '08 is not compatible G4 Powerbook 15" ??
    Can somebody please help? Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I first moved the .pkg files to Trash.
Where were these file's located? The receipts are located in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. If those are the iPhoto pkg files you're referring to, i.e. iPhoto_714.pkg or iPhoto.pkg, then you did remove the correct files before reinstalling iPhoto from the iLife disk.
Log into another account, and see if iPhoto can create a book there. You may have to create a new library, import a couple of photos to do so.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

I have created a book in the past but it was prior to upgrading to iPhoto '08

  • Unable to upload iPhoto book to print from iPad

I have been unable to upload my iPhoto book to print it from my iPad...
It will go through the process of requesting apple ID password --> verifying my credit card --> then will say "placing order. uploading project"  and look like it is uploading (ie blue bar showing progress) and sometimes this is progressing for hours, but then the app will crash and close down.
Things I've tried/confirmed so far:  I have the up to date versions of iOS and iPhoto, I have it connected to wi-fi and plugged in, I have closed down all other apps on the iPad
Has anyone else had this issue? Any solutions?
Is there a way to upload it from my computer instead? -- I have a PC but have been unable to find the 'book' or photos in iTunes or elsewhere on the computer to even try this...
    Thanks for any help!

You have covered most issues, but you do not mention how much free memory you are having on your iPad. Submitting a book for printing need plenty of free memory on your iPad, about the same amount as the combined size of your photos. Could it be, that you are running out of memory?
Another reason might be an unprintable, corrupted photo in your book.
Is there a way to upload it from my computer instead? -- I have a PC but have been unable to find the 'book' or photos in iTunes or elsewhere on the computer to even try this...
To order a photo book from Apple you need an Apple computer or an iOS device.
To transfer the photos to your PC see:

  • UNABLE TO UPLOAD BOOK

Since buying my iMac G5 I've never been able to upload a book to Apple. Never. (Never is just about 3 years). I've just installed iLife 08 hoping...to no avail. I've also been dealing with Apple Photo and print services for 3 days. I can order prints, but not a book. I have a test book with no alerts at all and it won't upload. I see I'm not the only one with this experience. But, I've tried most of the solutions suggested. Seems to me if I can upload prints, I should be able to upload books. My test book is just 20 pages. 12mb. Shouldn't be a problem. Are there any proven solutions out there?
I'd sure appreciate knowing. I do not like the new MyPublisher. com solution. The new Bookmaker 2.2 replaced their iPhoto plug-in. The couldn't leave well enough alone. Any other resources out there?
    Thanks to one and all.

Here's what happens: I order a book, (all account information is correct and 1-click is enabled), the assembles very quickly and then "Transferring" begins. The bar zips along to full. That's where it sits for a period of time. Then the "Unexpected Error" message appears. I quote:
*"An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connections and click Retry to resend your file."* I suspect many others are familiar with this message.
The last thing Apple Photo Services had me do was delete "Net Services" from the Keychain Access
    utility. That doesn't work, either.
Can't remember the other solutions I've tried since I bought this iMac G5. There have been a couple of others from Photo Services but I can't find them in my eMail (I don't keep things for long).
I'm puzzled because I can upload book files to My Publisher; as noted, uploading prints doesn't seem to be a problem. And sending/receiving large graphic files from my office has never been a problem.
    Apprecitae your help.
    Thanks!
    David
FYI: All my software is current. I have a DSL line. I can successfully order prints from Apple. My test book has no yellow "alerts" concerning picture quality. I run "Disk Utility and Disk Warrior regularly.

  • HT3412 why will my iphoto book not upload? I have previously uploaded to books without any problems.

I am unable to upload my iphoto book for printing. I have previously uploaded two books without problems. It gets through the assembly step and the blue bar fills up the Upload bar except for a "hair" at the end, then I get the message that upload has failed. Cancel order or try again.

Preview yout book using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040
If it is good boot into safe mode, preview again and after checking again order while in safe mode

  • I recently re-loaded iphoto, and now am unable to upload photos from my camera - saying there is insufficient disk space

I recently re-loaded iphoto, and now am unable to upload photos from my camera - saying there is insufficient disk space. does anyone have a solution?

Assuming you have space on your disk, then it could be a symptom of a damaged Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • XLS upload via HSODBC. Unable to upload numeric (float) fields

    hi,
I wrote a program unit with Oracle Forms Builder 10g to upload and read an Excel sheet.
I created a HSODBC Data link to my DB, and used Excel 2003 to edit the XLS file to upload, and WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.CLIENT_TO_AS(client_dir_file,'\\server\dir\myfile.xls') to upload.
My DBLink works and Im able to upload the file. But it seems oracle is unable to upload some fields containing numeric (float) values.
running DESCRIBE Sheet1$@hsodbc; I got this table structure
    UPLOAD_DATE          DATE
    NUMBER VARCHAR2(32512 CHAR)
    CODE VARCHAR2(32512 CHAR)
    DESCR          VARCHAR2(32512 CHAR)
    SIMILARS FLOAT(49)
    WIDTH VARCHAR2(32512 CHAR)
    HEIGHT VARCHAR2(32512 CHAR)
    HIGH      VARCHAR2(32512 CHAR)
    ITEMS      FLOAT(49)
fields SIMILARS, WIDTH, HEIGHT, HIGH, ITEMS contain numeric values in float format (ex: 1,00000). When I run
    SELECT * FROM SHEET1$@HSODBC
I get that WIDTH, HEIGHT, HIGH columns are EMPTY (contain NULL values), while SIMILARS and ITEMS contains not null values.
I am sure that the \\server\dir\myfile.xls contains not null values for WIDTH, HEIGHT, HIGH fields! I tried to change cells format before upload, setting them to FLOAT, but I got no results!
Please help me, how can I do to change cell format in order to obtain a correct upload?

    E.C.
there is a mistake in the subject. As I said in my thread, the upload works and the uploaded file contains all values. My problem is that I am "unable to READ" the numeric values stored in VARCHAR2 fields.
