I am unable to use the Live View function when working with JavaScript in Dreamweaver.
I am currently trying to set up my own website with dreamweaver and am very familiar with Java and JavaScript. However, whenever I try to use the Live View function it never lets me. Additionally, I am unable to preview my work in a browser as the option to do so is greyed out.
However, I have noticed that when using html in a project, all these functions are available. Any ideas how I can be able to use these functions?
Is it possible you meant to say you were "very unfamiliar with Java and javascript" in your initial post?
Javascript doesn't do anything without an html page to affect.
Java and javascript are not the same thing, they're really not even related other than browsers can be made to render both. Java is its own programming language while javascript is basically html's helper monkey. I don't think it's even feasible to "understand javascript" without knowing html. My last post still stands, if you are coding javascript, you need an html based page to turn it into anything but plain code to a browser, so the option to view it will never come up. When you preview the page it's attached to, it will function correctly (as long as it has been attached to the page correctly).
Java on the other hand can create programs that run without a browser at all and I've never gotten close to touching that monster.
You may need to explain what you're trying to do and post the code here to get the help you need.

Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels. Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer. I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation. I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC. I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots. Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes. Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond. In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images. After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data. (I have a screen shot to show this.) CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong. I could also send screen shots of this data.

How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?
I am using either of the path selection tools to select only some of the paths on the layer. I have the proper layer targeted. I have the selection too auto select option turned off.
If another layer has a path in that area, that layer becomes auto targeted and I get the wrong path. Turning off the layer is the only way to avoid this but then I have to turn on the layer back on between making my selection and transforming to use the other layer as guide. Is there any way to stop this auto select? Locking the other layer does not stop the auto select, just prevents editing.As far as i know the move tool options don't have any effect on the path selection tools.
You might try clicking on one of the path points or on the path itself with one of path selection tools and if you want to select multiple points
you can shift click with the Direct Selection Tool or Alt click to select the entire path.

Unable to use the keyboard in XP keys work OK when boot into dos
Unable to use the keyboard in XP. It was working for over a year OK with XP running
keys work OK when I install win98 or use a dos boot disk.
If I try to reinstall XP I can not use any of keys to input anything.

I bet in the uk with sporting index as I live in the uk.
I often look at their live betting prices of firefox.
Now I have downloaded firefox 4 it won't let me do this anymore so I would like to stop version 4 and go back to the old version which allowed me access to the live betting prices on Sporting IndexUse the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps. -
This is actually a workaround answer for the question at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/943960 , which has been archived.
This problem persists for me in FF 27.0.1. The source of the problem can be found in this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358297 which Mozilla seems to think has been fixed.
Basically, the MS xps reader program thinks it needs to open MS Internet Explorer, but it does this by opening the default browser, which for us is probably FF.
Here is the workaround:
If you want to open an xps file in ms windows:
* First right click on the file in ms explorer to get the context menu.
* Choose "Open with" > "Choose program"
* Instead of the default choices (if any) offered, choose "Internet explorer"
* ALSO, check the check box "Always use the selected program to open this type of file."
This will make Windows go straight to IE, which works for me. However, you will still have to have the underlying handler installed, presumably.1. "this is a really really old version of Firefox" Really? FF 27.0.1 is really old? It's the latest version as of today. Read my post more carefully.
2. The bug was updated relatively recently by someone else, who was told to file a different bug. I do not have time to refile bugs that other people have already filed and updated. Among other things, I will be told to install the latest build and see if the bug persists.
3. The purpose of my post here was to help others who might have the same problem.
4. If you "have no idea", why did you feel the need to respond? I would rather hear responses from those who have some idea. -
Unable to use the "Check In" option on Facebook with Fascinate?
Ever since I received my phone before Christmas I've been trying to use the Check In option in FB to check in when I go places. It doesn't seem to work and I have a few friends that has the same phone and they tell me the same thing. Has anyone been successful in using this option?
In order to use the Facebook Check In feature you must have your GPS turned on. You can turn on GPS by dragging the screen down and selecting the GPS icon.
You can also turn on GPS by selecting Menu, Settings and Location & settings.

Printing on iPad mini compared to iphone5
If you are printing from an iPhone the printer most likely already AirPrint capable. So it should work directly.
Alternatively, if you are using an App on your iPhone to print to it. You should be able to use the same App on your iPad. -
How do I use more than four PDOs when working with NI-Industrial Communications for CANopen?
When I call CANopen TPDO Create.vi to create TPDO objects I can only input PDO1 through PDO4. How do I work with more than four PDOs?
I see the other forum thread using an older version of CANopen, but it does not appear to directly translate into the newer NI-Industrial Communications for CANopen.

A good resource for CANopen is available here. That page explains that typically in the CANopen standard, there are only 4 predefined PDOs in each direction (transmit and receive). To use extra PDOs, additional configuration is required. The configuration of the predefined PDO Channels refers to the COB-ID that they are linked to by default.
According to the LabVIEW help files, the COB-ID is 'calculated' by adding the value of the PDO Channel and the Node ID, if the COB-ID is zero. However, if the COB-ID is explicitly defined, then LabVIEW will ignore the calculation provided by the Node ID and PDO Channel. So, if you need more than the four PDOs, you'll need to use the COB-ID input to differentiate which channel is being referenced.
I hope this clears some things up, and please don't hesitate to ask for more advice.

Different family class used for input and output when working with sockets
I have seen more or less everywhere the following code to open a socket and to receive input and send output through it:

What I do not understand is:
Why the BufferedReader needs InputStreamReader as an argument whereas printwriter does not want the OutputStreamReader as an argument but it is OK with just the OutPutStream?
I would tend to believe that they should be more or less at the same level and use the same arguments?.
In that sense if I use BufferWriter instead of PrintWriter I bet It should be OK the following code?:
OutputStream out = server.getOutputStream();
BufferedWriter bout = new BufferedWriter (out);
String myOut = bout.writeLine();

I am unable to use the disk drive on my G4 with my new MacMini (late 2011)
I have followed the directions RE: enabling sharing on both computers and the G4 shows up on the Mini, but the disk in the drive doesn't show up. I am trying to install some newly purchased software (Adobe Photoshop Elements 10) from the G4 drive to the Mini.
Just for clarity ... are you trying to run some software from the G4 drive on the new mini? That won't work, since Lion no longer has Rosetta emulation, and doesn't run PowerPC code. Adobe Photoshop elements 10 will only run on your new mini.
One way to share your G4 hard drive with your new mini is by putting the G4 into target disk mode. Reboot holding the T key down, and you'll see a firewire symbol moving about the screen. Then connect a firewire cable between the two systems. You may need a firewire 400 to 800 adapter. Unable to get the "Submit a form" action working with Webmail: Gmail
I am attempting to create interactive PDF forms for the website which the end user will email back once filled out.
I have added a link to the form that runs the "Submit a form" action, this appears to work if you have a mail client installed, but if you specify Webmail "Gmail", the system appears to start the process with:
First asking you for the email account details to add
You are then asked to allow Adobe Acrobat permissions to your access your email account
It then attempts to create a draft message but fails with: "Error while creating message ..."
NB: I have logged into my Gmail account on the client PC and I am able to send emails.
Any ideas if this has a known problem and if a fix is available, without a fix it makes interactive PDF's a bit pointless?

Do this at your own risk. TVSU will not be supported on Vista SP 2 until we release a version we've qualified with it. Is the I Pod 1 different that the I Pod 2 when working with photos
I have a refurbished I Pad 1 and wonder if the I pad 2 has the same issues in regard to photo issues such as delete when down loaded from PC, and so on. Or are they the same. Seem to be not very friendly!
They are the same i.e. only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.

Does the default HTMLEditorKit and JEditorPane work with javascript

my question is as per title, Ive tried some basic javascript and it doesn't seem to process it. The javascript being

</html>This doesn't seem to work as the JEditorPane doesn't fire any HTMLHyperLinkEvent events when this page is loaded. I have setEditable(false) and HTMLHyperLinkEvent 's are fired when links a clicked. Is there a flag that needs to be set to use javascript with the defaultHTMLEditorKit or can't it be used.
