I am using a popup dictionary which pops up a small window when a word is double clicked.

It works on IE, but not on Firefox, not even when I turn off popup blocker. When I double click on a word, nothing happens, not even the popup blocked bar. Is there a setting I can adjust to allow the dictionary to work?

Pollti: the dictionary is a software programme which I installed from a disc. It is used by double-clicking on a word in a text, and a translation window pops up in a small window. This function does not work with Firefox, but it does work with IE. The programme disc is dated 2001, so perhaps it is not sophisticated enough for today's Firefox?
Cor-el I will try this option and inform you of the result later.

Since upgrade to 3.6.7 the emoticons window on a forum I use always opens full screen, not as a small window. How can I get it to open as a small screen again.

Since upgrading to 3.6.7, when I go to a forum I'm active on and click the emoticons icon in the reply box, the emoticons window opens full screen, and not as a small screen like it did before. I can click on the box to make it small again, but next time I open it, it's back to full screen. Ok, not a major problem, but really rather annoying. I've tried to find a way to get it back to opening the way it did before, but to no avail. Does anyone know how I can solve this little problem?

No-one got any ideas on this then? It's definitely a firefox problem, as when I open the forum page (mentioned in the OP) with Opera or Chrome, the emoticons window opens as a small window, same as FF used to before the upgrade.

After logging into Windows 7, I have to double click several times on Mozilla in order for it to pop up. Then on the tool bar it will show that I have several open boxes of Mozilla.

Mozilla will not open even after several tries. It eventually will but then I have several open Mozilla boxes and have to delete each one until I have just the one.

Just sounds as though you're being impatient. Wait a minute after logging in and then double click the icon. It'll probably then load up straight away.
Each time you double-click an icon it'll launch a new instance of the application. So what you're probably doing is double-clicking 7 times, which then causes 7 copies of FF to open when your computer catches up.

Popping up in small window

Hi all, Lifetime newbie award winner Phil here! I want a link
to open in it's own new window. I can do that no problem. But I
want that window to be a set size, say 400*500 and preferably
without the users browser toolbars included, if at all reasonably
possible. Is this something people can explain to me in words of

HT203171 My left click produces pop up windows when it should be just clicking on an area to type...i never had this problem on any other macbook pro

Very strange how this does this. Producing pop up windowns like a right click and also zooing in and out by itself. If tried to report this and the steps taken were: 1 - reinstall software and 2. (which i havent done yet) , wipe it clean and start over...
This is a new late 2013 macbook pro 2600 computer laptop...

Very small window when using Sky Email

When I opened Sky Email with Firefox (on Visat) this morning, there was only a very small window in the top left of the usual space. There were scrolling bars to move about this tiny window but no means of enlarging the window.
I opened the same site with IE and it was OK and full size.

RH7 HTML - Receive IE script error message when double-clicking link to auto-size pop-up

Hi, all,
Anybody ever seen this situation? When double-clicking on a link to an auto-size pop-up, I get the following Internet Explorer script error message:
This error also occurs when I double-click the link in preview mode within the project. A colleague that is running the same version of IE with the same settings is not receiving this error. A couple of other co-workers are running a different version of IE, and one gets this error and one does not.
This error does not occur if you single-click the link (which you would normally do), nor does it occur if you double-click a link to a fixed-size pop-up. Once you receive this message and click Yes or No, the link sometimes works correctly when you double-click. I haven't been able to establish a pattern. Also, if you single click the link to display the pop-up, click off of it, and then double-click the link, the error does not occur.
As you can tell by now, this problem is kind of hard to pin down. I've done some research and I have yet to stumble upon anything that deals with this issue. Unless there is a solution out there, I can do one of two things: 1) change all of the auto-size pop-ups in the project to fixed-sized, which defeats the purpose of creating auto-size pop-ups, or 2) tell our customer not to double-click links.
Any advice you could give would be welcome.

Indeed it has been reported on many occasions over the years. Unless someone like Willam has some way cool error detection magick with the scripts, the best approach we have always offered is this.
Educate your users on the way computers and HTML works. HTML works using SINGLE clicks, not DOUBLE clicks.
The reason for the error is because the first click caused the computer to launch a JavaScript command to open the sized popup. The second click that followed in rapid succession confused things by asking the script to stop what it was doing and run again.
Maybe it would help to explain it to your users like this. If you visited a restaurant and when the server asked what you wanted to order, would the become confused if you said to them: I'll have the T-Bone Steak and nearly immediately you repeated it by saying again I'll have the T-Bone Steak.

Pop-up and parent window passing values

Hi,
Can any one please give some advice on how to achive the solution. I have a parent window in which there is a text area. I have a small button besides the text area where if the user clicks on it then it pops up a small window.....In that pop window I have one column with multiple text messages...and for that text message i have a corresponding value which is not displayed to the user.
When the user selects on the text message then the corresponding value is displayed on the main window and the pop-up window is closed or it can be closed by the user.

Javascript can pass the value to the parent window by using window.opener in the child window, then close itself. But that's a Javascript issue, for which you should find a Javascript forum to ask about that type of thing in.

How to popup an OAF page in a new window?

I hava a requirement to popup an OAF page in a new window when i touch a image .
When i touch the image,popup a new OAF page ,and the orial page become invalid like LOV,
there are some messageTextInput items and a 'Confirm' submitButton in the new OAF page,
So how to popup a new OAF page and how to pass the values to orial OAF page when i press the 'Confirm' submitButton?
Can anybody give me a detailed example pls?

When trying to open .xps file, I told Firefox to AUTOMATICALLY open all .xps files using xpsviewer.exe & now it opens MANY tabs once I double click on .xps file! How do I stop this?

O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).
