  • CS6 extension manager isn't working

I downloaded a couple extensions to use with my CS6 version of Photoshop, but I can't get the Extension Manager to open. I see it down in my task bar, but when I click on it nothing appears. I've tried accessing it from the Program files list and even right-clicking the extensions and choosing "Open", but nothing. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Download and reinstall. See if that works

  • Extension Manager no longer works

    Hi -
While my extensions still seem to be accessible in Dreamweaver CS4, the Extension Manager no longer works. It launches, but no window ever shows up. This is the case whether I launch it from within Dreamweaver, launch it independently or click on an extension I wish to update. I would appreciate any information on what can cause this problem and how it can be solved.
I tried uninstalling Extension Manager with the Uninstaller app, but the checkbox for Extension Manager is grayed out and I cannot select it. If I click Select All and then uncheck the apps I don't want to touch, Extension Manager is also deselected. The only way to keep it selected is if I also leave Fireworks, Illustrator and InDesign selected. But uninstalling all these apps seems like a radical alternative. If I trash Extension Manager manually, I cannot select it in the CS4 installer. Presumably I would have to uninstall the other three apps and reinstall them at the same time I reinstall Extension Manager. There are obviously some dependencies between these four apps, but uninstalling and reinstalling them all is a lot of work to go to for a solution that may not even work.

Sorry, I should have mentioned my operating system. I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.3 on a 3GHz quad core Mac Pro with 8GB of RAM.
I don't use a second monitor so I don't know how the window could have moved off screen, but I tried using the Gather Windows button in the Displays preference pane just in case it had somehow gotten lost; no joy. It doesn't show up with Expose either, not with F9 or F10. I tried deleting the com.Adobe.ExtensionManager.plist file, but it makes no difference. Interestingly, when I launched ExtensionManager it did not create a new plist file. I replaced the existing plist file with a copy from another user account where ExtensionManager works; this, too, does no good. If I leave ExtensionManager running a few minutes, eventually it shows up in the Force Quit window as "not responding", so it definitely appears to be hanging up at some point. I tried looking at the Console log as I launch EM but I don't see anything that clearly indicates what's happening. It's mostly Greek to me anyway.

  • Extension Manager CS5 stopped working

Not much to say. The app is not starting anymore, it remains stuck on Loading Extensions, with no CPU load. Pretty much sure it worked. This is like absolutely vital, as I have a text animation component to install and without it I absolutely cannot to my job. I am working on a Windows 7 x64 system, clean and cared for... I tried launching as admin etc, but nothing worked.
EDIT: It was my Kaspersky 2010 that was somehow blocking it. All solved now.

I am having the same issue.  I cannot open the Extension Manager to manage or install new dreamweaver extensions.  It runs in the processes but does not open a window.  I have tried everything, lexcept a uninstall and clean install of the entire creative suite (I want to avoid this b/c I have so much to set back up and it would litterally take me a week).
Well I kind of figure the issue out here, but still have not found the solution to get it to open in my user account.  The issue is with the Wiindows user account.
I created a test user account called "test" and gave it administrative rights.
I logged in and clicked on adobe extension manager.  It opened.  The problem is that you cannot install or manage the extensions on one user to use with another windows user account.  BOOOO!
Well does anyone know how I can compare my user settings to see what the heck is causing this issue.  When I check my user account information within the control panel and user accounts it only gives little information that can be updated and the original user account where the extension manager is not working is set to administrator in all aspects.
Please any input would be great from anyone.  It seems there are a lot of people with this issue.
    Thanks,
    Ernie T.

    Hi Monsieur_G,
The new Creative Cloud Desktop App looks like a nice and integrated replacement for both the Adobe Application Manager and the Creative Cloud Connection. If you are an existing user of Creative Cloud and are already using the legacy Creative Cloud Connection then you might want to update it using the Adobe Application Manager. To do this, Open the Adobe Application Manager and look for new updates, it should find the new Creative Cloud Desktop App and download it, and install it for you. The older AAM will automatically update itself without any need to uninstall it manually.

I posted this for anyone else that is having the same problem. This may be the trick after deleting the opm.db file. I found the install box the same as the manager pict. and click on that when it had uploaded i just closed it and it worked. fingers crossed. Thank you again.

  • Email from Adobe says I can use File Sync today, but it isn't working

Received an email this morning saying I'd been already approved for newly reinstated File Sync and I should start using it today, but my desktop app still says "coming soon."   I waited till this evening, but it's still not active.
Here's quote from the email:  "Since we’re rolling out access in limited batches, we’re prompting people to join a waiting list—but we’ve gone ahead and approved you, so you can get started using these features anytime."
    Anyone know what's going on?
    Gail

Hi Gail, were you prompted to update your CC desktop app ?
If not then try quitting it and then re-launch it, it will ask you to update.
After update, it should have that functionality.

  • Search open tabs from AwesomeBar using % in front of the term isn't working in FF 35. Is this an issue, or am I missing something?

Numerous pages reference this procedure to search open tabs but only a new tab opens. I've tried this from both url (address) bar and search bar without success without success. Does the AwesomeBar need to be enabled or is there something else I'm doing wrong?

    Hi skippdiddly,
Do you have the URL's that mention this? The closest thing I can think of is the "Switch to tab" feature.
Take a look at this page [[Awesome Bar - Find your bookmarks, history and tabs when you type in the address bar]] the section labeled "Switch to tab" shows an example of what it looks like.

  • Problem using extension manager CS5 with command line

    Hi All,
I had posted my question here : http://forums.adobe.com/message/4695419#4695419, but was advised to do so here as well..
I have a requirement to get the path of all the installed Extension Managers on any Windows system for the purpose of installing an extension.. I thought, there would be no problem in getting the path from the registry. There was no problem in Win XP, but the same does not work for Win 7.. I googled, and found alternate ways to get the path.
Here is the link : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/851359. I followed the instructions in this post, but failed to get this working for CS5 as mentioned in my previous thread... No problem for CS5.1 and CS6.. Why is that?
I want to get this working for CS5, CS5.1, CS6... How can I get the path of all the Extension Manager versions installed on a Windows system?
Please refer to the following screenshots to get a better understanding of my problem,
I created a jsx file named "Result.jsx", which I saved in my D drive, with the following code,
    resultFile = new File("D:/result.log");
    resultFile.open("w");
    resultFile.write(BridgeTalk.__diagnostics__);
    resultFile.close();
If I run this directly from ESTK CS5, there is no problem, and I get the result.log file. I tried to execute this script via command line as shown in the screenshot,
On executing the above, I got the following error,
    What is going wrong?
    Please help!

I am sorry for the poor documentation of Extension Manager which causes you so much trouble.
    1. You can use BridgeTalk API to ask specific version of Extension Manager to do something. There is sample in packaging_extension.pdf about this. You don't need to know the installation path of Extension Manager. One thing to note is that the value of bt.target is version specific, i.e. "exman-5.0", "exman-5.5" send this message to different version of Extension Manager, so you can change this value to install/enable/disable/remove extensions using different version of Extension Manager. More detailed documentation of BridgeTalk can be found by clicking "Help" menu then clicking "Javascript Tools Guide CS5" in "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5".
    2. Specific version of Extension Manager only manage extensions for corresponding version of product. You should use Extension Manager CS5 to install extensions for Photoshop CS5. The reason that the extension you installed for Photoshop CS5.1 using Extension Manager CS5.5 is displayed for Photoshop CS5 in Extension Manager CS5 is that two versions of Photoshop specified the same directory for Extension Manager to manage extensions. This is a defect and will cause some problems if multiple versions of Photoshop co-existed in one machine. But "to find  previous (CS5) extension manager and to enable it" should work for you, I guess you use command line to enable it and specify wrong product name (see #3) so that it doesn't work.
    3. When using command line, you should specify "product" attribute with the name displayed at the left panel of Extension Manager. So "Photoshop CS5 32" is correct. Remember to enclose it with double quote because of existence of space character.
    4. As above mentioned, use display name of Photoshop, and call proper version of Extension Manager by BridgeTalk.

  • Various problems using extension manager with command line

    Hello all,
We are installing our plugins  to CS4/5/5.1 version of Adobe Photoshop as part of our installer and  allow the users to select specific versions of Photoshop to install the  panel for. There are a few old problems that I wanted to rant about for  quite some while and now with a whole bunch of problems that the 5.1  update introduced I feel I just have to voice them. I will limit it to  PC only as it seems to be the most troubled platform
#1 As we cannot install our plugin only by using the  Extension Manager (simply because it cannot handle all we've to do upon  the installation) we have to run commands from within the our installer,  non-interactively, of course.
The interface to command line installation is xmancommand.exe (or "Extension manager (Version). exe" - not sure whether it makes any difference. ). Now the first question is how to find this executable on   the target machine, from an installer. Users may specify different  locations to install the Creative Suite and it certainly does NOT have  to  be  C:\Program Files\...(or %PRGRAMFILES% in general). ATM we are using an odd place in the registry  to to find the path to the most recent Extension Manager but first its  sometimes overwritten by another installation and in any case it  only shows ONE version of the extension manager which of course cannot  handle other versions (see #2)
#2 Why the most recent version of  Adobe Extension Manager (5.5) cannot install the extension for 5.0?  Well, install it actually does, however its disabled for CS5 and it  seems that the only way to enable it on this platform is to find  previous (CS5) extension manager and to enable it. Oh, actually no - it  doesn't work! The only way that I found here working is to find CS5  extension manager first, install the extension there and then use CS5.5  extension manager to enable it. Why do I need both utilities to manage  my extensions?!
#3 The program is severely lacking in  documentation AND it doesn't produce reasonable output messages, so  determining what it can actually support is a puzzle. For example, why  "Dreamweaver CS5" is a correct product name and "Photoshop CS5" is not (don't different teams talk to each other)? Ok, lets forget the consistency, but how do I make the utility output the list of all products it supports, in their  magic token form that it will actually be understood if passed in in the  command line? By trial and error? This menthod btw is also extremely painful: nany times when  specifying wrong parameters the program doesn't provide any output and just shrugs "whatever, go figure it yourself"...
#4 Why the only way to enable/disable an extension in Photoshop  seems to be using magic "productfamily" keyword that is not even listed  on Adobe's help page for command line options (here:  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/extensionmanager/cs/using/WSB4845EDD-14E5-476a-B749-FF328830D1 4F.html).?  E.g. "xmancommand.exe" -suppress -remove  product=Photoshop  extension=OurExtension" will ALWAYS fail with a lovely "'Photoshop is  not supported by Extension Manager CS5.5." error; I've tried "PhotoshopCS5", "Photoshop CS5", "PhotoshopCS5.1"  "Photoshop CS5.1", "Photoshop-12" (mentioned in examples section in  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/extensionmanager/cs/using/packaging_extension.pdf )  and a whole bunch of other permutations - none  seem to work (see #3). Magic "productfamily=Photoshop" does work. But  then it only aims the current version ("CS5.1") and I need it to work  for CS5 (I'm not even mentioning CS4...."). Would there be any suggestions?
Really, the question is, how do we, third-party developers, are  supposed to interact with the command-line utility without knowing where  it is, what product names is capable to work with and without being  able to target specific platforms (i86 vs x64 anyone  (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/672537)? CS5 vs CS5.1 (above)?). I don't  know what your test cases are for the command line tool (if any!), but this is simply insane, folks, simply  insane.

I am sorry for the poor documentation of Extension Manager which causes you so much trouble.

  • Extension Manager CS4 not installing extensions in Dreamweaver CS4

Just installed CS4 Design Premium. Now i want to install some
    extensions to Dreamweaver.
When I click on the extension to install it I get a message
    from the Extension Manager saying:
"This extension can not be installed, it products requires
Dreamweaver 6 or greater. To install this extension, please try to
install Dreamweaver CS4 or use Extension Manager CS3 which works
with Adobe CS3 and earlier products."
I have even tried to install it by opening the Extension
    Manager from Dreamweaver via the
Commands menu, with the same results.
    - I have version 2.0.274 of Adobe Extension Manager CS4.
    - I do not see the Dreamweaver icon in Extension Manager's
    product list*
    - I tried to reinstall Dreamweaver
    (which also reinstalled Extension Manager)
    - Easy to forget; I am on a Mac
    - The extensions should be okay, as they install quite nice
    in Dreamweaver CS3
I tried to look for a
plist to edit, but as I do not really know what to look for
    this action failed.
*in the same order i find the icons of Flash CS4, Fireworks
    CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and Bridge CS4 in
    the products list.

What extensions are you trying to install?
