I am using Final Cut Pro for the first time...Converted from Premiere Pro

The interface seems very similar, but I wanted to know why it's not accepting my .avi files? I read in the help book that it's not rendered for final cut, but all my files are in this format. Is there something else I can do to get final cut to allow playback in real time?

You'll need to convert your AVIs into a Quicktime format that matches the settings on your timeline if you want to avoid having to render your AVIs in order to play them.
The best way to do this would be to open them in the Quicktime Player then export as Quicktime DV Pal (or NTSC or whatever format you're working in).
On the other hand, if your AVIs were generated by a codec locked into a PC video card such as Canopus then you'l need to go back to Premiere and export your AVIs as Quicktime or put them bacck onto tape and capture in FCP.
If this doesn't work then you'll need to give more details about where the AVIs came from, the codecs used etc.

This thread and all the followups are hilarious, if it weren't such a serious problem. OP, you may want to add a bit more information on how this drippy screen problem occurs: where do you live, what are the weather conditions, what are you doing with the Mac when it occurs, etc.
Yes, extreme moisture, to the extent of causing visible condensation, is Very Bad News for any electronic device, and more so with one that isn't tropicalized like the Mac. Besides trying to avoid subjecting it to such extreme temperature changes, using some kind of desiccant to absorb close range moisture and avoidint its use until it dried out, I can suggest placing some kind of absorbent material between the display and the keyboard to prevent the moisture on the glass from finding its way into the computer. Hello! Just connected a used iPhone to iTunes for the first time. I'm trying to restore it to factory settings/default. The phone is connected via Wi-Fi and is updated to the most recent OS that the phone allows. The computer is also connected to the internet. But I still get the error: "itunes could not contact the iphone software update server because you are not connected to the internet." I also connected via iTunes and authorized the computer, but still have the same issue. Really, all I need to do is completely wipe the phone and start from scratch for safety's sake.

Thank you very much for your answer! I have 2 Apple ID, and I have tried both of them and the problem continues. I founf several peolpe with the same problem in apple communities foruns and that really seems that there is some problem. I addded the links for 2 of those discussions.

You can import the videos and photos using iPhoto or Image Capture on your Mac.
Connect the iPad to the Mac with the cable and launch either of those two applications on the Mac. Your iPad should appear as a device in the left side of the app. Click on the iPad name and then you should have access to all of the photos and Vidoes in the camer roll and you can import them onto the Mac.
Im not sure what the reference is to Power Point in this case. You can use the imported photos and videos in a Power Point presentation after you import them to the Mac.
Are you trying to create a Slide Show on the iPad? Is that what you mean by a Power Point presentation?

It is a great resource and can get you up and running. Just select Premiere Pro CS3 from the products window, then select the topic "Getting Started" and finally the title. Start by selecting "setting up a project" under the titles window.
Its like having your own in-house instructor.
However, as Jeff said, the trial version will not have certain features enabled.

Using QuickTime 7 Pro for the first time with Windows. What can it do?

After spending almost two hours with Apple reps, I finally figured out where the controls are for QuickTime Pro. I have started to use Miraizon's Cinematize Pro 2 to extract clips as mpeg-4 files (a lot smaller than a QT movie, though maybe it can be made smaller if I compressed it, though I don't know how). Now I wish I knew exactly what I am able to do with my mpeg-4 clip once I've extracted it.
So the question is, having a PC, Windows XP and QT 7 Pro, exactly what features does it have for editing? I opened a mpeg-4 with QT Player and of course have the following to choose from under the "edit" function: cut, copy, delete, select all,select none, trim to selection, add to movie, add to selection and scale, find and preferences. So please tell me at least what I can do with this program and at least how to begin.
By the way, I have a website and use Microsoft FrontPage 2003. I have a combination of video types previously made and sent to me by others; some are .wmv, some are .mov. Now as I use Cinematize 2 Pro, I am creating mpeg-4s. This choice is made because I'd like to keep the file as small as possible without losing quality per se and also I want to reduce to a minimum the problems anyone visiting my site who wants to see the clip might have. Also you should know I insert the movie files onto my websie as plug-ins/MIME files.
I'm new to the list and would greatly appreciate your help.

QuickTime Pro is a rather simple editing application and once you learn how to make a "selection" (letter i and o keys) and then fine tune it (Shift and right left arrow keys) you're on your way.
You can also "scrub" through large files by using the J, K and L keys or copy/paste selections into new Player windows.
Dozens of image, video and audio formats can be opened by QuickTime Pro and then "Exported" (converted) to other file formats. It can even open plain text files to use as "titles", narration text for the hearing impaired.
The Windows version can also make "One Click" audio recordings (Mac version can make video and audio files). A simple way to add a narration track to your video. Since QuickTime .mov files can have up to 99 tracks and support about 27 languages you can make one file for many nations.
QuickTime Pro is also a very powerful authoring tool.
QuickTime Pro can even create files that view without a "box":
