I am looking for more guitar sounds and software sounds (violin). Does Logic Express provide this? Is there a list of what it provides (I mean different guitar sounds and software sounds for a MIDI keyboard)

"Upgrade" to Logic if you want more knobs to twist, not because you'd like a few more samples.

Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or Chrome.

My itunes can not upgrade. it is looking for athe Itunes.MSI file, but it is unable to find it on the C:drive. How do I correct the error, and reinstall Itune for my Iphone, Ipad and Ipod?
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I forgot my administator password for settings so i cant do pretty much anything and when i go to download something on safari then it says you dont have the permission to use this application and then it says for more imformation contact account creator

Since lion upgrade iMac keeps looking for old server
Hi,
I have a NAS prior to Lion upgrade which was working perfectly. Now with the Lion upgrade the NAS (Sitecom) ther were some issues. I have reinstalled the NAs and had given it a new name. I can find the NAs now so thats not a problem.
But almost every hour I get 2 warning that he can not find the "old NAS", it really start annoying me and I've looked everywhere and I don't even find any link (Finder) towards it so I don't know what to do to get rid of this message, receiving it every hour twice really start getting on my nerves.
Sorry for th Dutch, but the message translates;
A problem has occured with connecting to the server 'VanBeeckNAS'
The server doesn't exist or is currently not available. Check the servername or the IP-address of the server, ...
Any help is highly appreciated.
PeterSame problem since lion. Not only can I not back up to the server it keeps looking for it several times on start up. Real annoying.

I would like to install logic on my new mac book but there is no dvd drive. I tried to downlaod the upgrade but that didn't work. How do I download it for the first time?
Thanks!You can only use the App Store version to reinstall on your new Mac if you bought Logic via the App Store in the first place.... and then it will appear under the Purchases tab in the Mac App Store App so long as you are signed in using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic via the App store in the first place.
If you bought the DVD edition of Logic Studio then you must initially install using those original DVDs to begin with and then update to the latest version of your version of Logic via software updates.
No DVD drive? Buy an external one.. Amazon do a very cheap basic one that works well..

Use Remote Disk if you still have your older Mac which has a built in DVD drive...

Yast2 channel-upgrade-oes command looking for wrong ldap server

Today I upgraded our first OES-Linux server from OES11 to OES11sp1.This
was the first OES-L server that we installed for our migration from
NetWare. Everything has been working fine and today I upgraded it so it
would be at the same patch level as the other servers before we moved to
OES11sp2.
The upgrade went fine until the final step
I was following the "Novell Doc: OES 11 SP1: Installation Guide -
Channel Upgrade from OES 11 to OES 11 SP1"
The final step says:
"After the reboot, log on to the server and run the yast2
channel-upgrade-oes command to complete the OES services
reconfiguration. This will prompt for eDirectory" password...
When I put in the eDirectory password it fails with a message that it
cannot contact the LDAP server on the NetWare server that used to be our
main LDAP server. That server has been gone for almost 2yrs.
I'm assuming there is a conf file I can change the address in and move
forward. I poked around and could not find a file that had the old LDAP
servers IP address in it. Does anyone know where this configuration file
would be?Nevermind - I spoke too soon (and apparently forgot how to use grep to
search for strings in files...)
it was reading the old NetWare server IP address in a file named
/etc/sysconfig/novell/edir2_oes11
I put the correct address into the /etc/sysconfig/novell/edir_oes11 and
it worked

if i don't put any video or photos on my 60gb iPod, will I be able to store more than the stated 15,000 songs on there? gracias
5th Gen iPod 60gb Mac OS X (10.4)I guess it isn't 100% clear, but I would think that when Apple says the iPod holds up to 15,000 songs, 25,000 photos and up to 150 hours of video, that each of those would be how much the iPod could hold if you were only using it for each particular thing (i.e. 15,000 songs IS a full iPod if all you have are songs on it, and 25,000 photos would also be a full iPod if only photos were on it). But that's just how I read the iPod description.

I have been trying to download films on my I Pad but receive a message saying insuficient storage space, update. I updated a d paíd for extra space but still receive same message and cannot download the films. Any suggestionx
The message is referring to not having enough space on your iPad, not to not having enough space in your iCloud account. Purchasing additional storage in your iCloud account does not give you more available space on your iPad.
You can check how much space you have available on your iPad by going to Settings>General>Usage. If you don't have enough, you'll have to delete or sync some data off your iPad to free up additional space. -

Use of same iTune for more than one iPod
I need to find out whether I can use the same itune in one computer for more than one iPod nano and one iPod video?
I looked at the article, but it doesn't help me know how once I have downloaded onto a nano, for example, the itunes knows that the next thing I connect is something different. My son hooked up his 20GB ipod last night after updating his sister's nano and now the itunes thinks his ipod is a nano. How do I get the itunes to recognize his ipod as the 20GB it is?

Two previous questions may not have been as clear as I would have liked. I recently upgraded my MacBook 2008 (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard (10.6.8). With the updates came iTunes 11.1.1 and Quicktime 7.6.6. I am still using Garageband 2008 and iPhoto 2008. When I create music in Garageband I usually adjust the volume and save it. Even now when I share the Garageband created files with iTunes 11.1.1, the volime I previously set in Garageband is retained. However, when I use the music to create a slide show in iPhoto 2008 and export to Quicktime 7.6.6, the volume level I previously set is lost and seems to default to a low level. The problem seems to be either in the slide show export from iPhoto 2008 to Quicktime 7.6.6 or in Quicktime itself. Is there a work around, so that I can retain the volume level I had previously set in Garageband, a volume level that seems to transfer without problem to the new iTunes. But then iPhoto 2008 (slide show) possibly or Quicktime 7.6.6 do not cooperate. Before I did the upgrade to Snow Leopard, the new iTunes and Quicktime I had no problems with the set volume being retained in the old Quicktime. The reason I need control over the volume is that all these music files are uploaded to YouTube.

Only two things you can upgrade on a MacBook is the Hard drive and Memory. It will not void the warranty. This is apples word on it. DIY Warranty Info

Be sure you can live with the graphics. If you do a lot of graphics work you might want to consider the MacBook Pro. I use my MacBook for video editing using Final Cut Express HD and it works well. The MB is also not very good for gaming if you are into that. The integrated chip set doesn't work well with 3D games.

Depending on your school may be a factor in what you choose. I use iWork and it is pretty good. You could also try NeoOffice or Open Office. They are good also. Office is supposed to be coming out with a new Mac version but not sure yet how it will work.
Be sure to ask for the student discount when you purchase the computer and software. It adds up. -

Diagnosing the health of my imac 24"
I am about to invest in a hard drive replacement for my Imac 24". I want to make sure that all the other components are OK. I don't have an Apple Hardware Test disk for this machine. Can they do it at the apple store? How much does something like tha
