I am using IPhone 5 with osi8.1.

I am using IPhone 5 with osi8.1.
My contacts are not showing phone numbers
(home and IPhone).  However, to the right of
Where the phone number should be – is a
facetime icon and to the right of that is a phone icon.
If I touch either icon the phone successfully connects a call to
the person I am calling.   From this, it seems to me that
The iphone # is in the contacts and is just not being displayed.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong.  Prior to ios
8.1 the Numbers were displayed in the contacts.
  Thanks

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing?
I just looked in my contacts - when I open up a contact - the phone number(s) is(are) displayed on the left under the name and title information
What you are describing is what I see when I tap on "Details" in my message app - it shows just the name with the phone and FaceTime icon along with an "i"

I am using Iphone with windows. I have draged photos from my computer into Iphone in the past, but cant seem to do it now. How do I move photos from my pc to my iphone without deleting photos that are on the phone.

You cannot drag pics from computer to iphone.  This has never been a feature of iphone.
You sync them as you would anything esle.
You select photos from the photos tab.  Whatever is selected will be on your iphone.  Anything not selected will not be. Make sure that everything you want on your iphone is selected, then sync.

  • Using iPhone with portable players meant for iPod

Is it supported to use iPhone with stereo players meant for iPod? (Bose/Klipsch)
I put my iPhone in the dock of my Klipsch player that I listen to my iPod with and immediately it screeched feedback through the speakers. Should I just assume that iPhone isn't compatible with these types of players?

The screeching is GSM interference/feedback. If you wanted to use the iphone with the speakers, try placing it in airplane mode first. That will keep the phone features turned off and keep the interference from happening. On the downside, you won't be able to receive phone calls during that time.
I would think that they make "supported" speakers, but pretty much the only difference would be that the speakers would be shielded to keep the feedback from happening.

  • Using iPhone with Linux?

Does anybody know if there's a sensible way to use iPhone with Linux? I really like the look of the iPhone 3G S, but since I run Ubuntu it looks like I've got no way to really use it.
Apart from the whole iTunes, Apple Store & Firmware updates issue, I've got a bunch of MP3's that I'd want to be able to transfer onto the phone to play them. Is there any way to do that from Linux?

I've tried Wine with iTunes, but it hasn't worked. QuickTime will install, but that's it (besides, I've had loads of troubles with iTunes on Windows). Consequently, as I'm on the Linux side of my computer all the time, I never really update my podcasts, making my iPhone little different from a regular mobile phone (which in Japan has music players already built into them).
I dare say, consequently, if my iPhone is lost, stolen, or damaged, I won't be replacing it with another iPhone.

  • Hello, I live in the Netherlands and my friend is going to bring me a MAC and an Iphone. I was just wondering is there international warranty? Other question is that can I use Iphone with any simcard that I want? Thanks in advance!

There is an international warranty on the Mac, but not on the iPhone...iPhone warranties are tied to the country of purchase.  Iphone 5s are currently only available in the US tied to a carrier, you cannot use another nano-sim card in them.

  • How to use iPhone with multiple computers on iTunes 11?

Both of my computers are Windows 7. I try to manage my music and videos on both iTunes. I used to be easy, like you just check the "Manually manage music and videos" square, and everything is fine... But after I update to iTunes 11, it just doesn't work. There is no resulting dialog box coming up where I can click "OK" after I checked square, and no matter I click "apply" below or "done" above, the iTunes asks to erase and sync with the iPhone. After it syncs, the "Manually manage music and videos" is checked. But if I move to another computer another iTunes, then it says I'm already syncing with one iTunes, and it needs to erase and sync with my iPhone again... and of course, the "Manually manage music and videos" is unchecked on this iTunes... If I try to check that on this one.. it's the same story happened before... Basically, there is just no way I can use one iPhone on two iTunes 11, is it?

    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entires and import the local content you have on that box.

  • Using iPhone with family ATT plan

    Hello all.
So I think I'm going to buy an iPhone today, but is there any way to use it with my family ATT plan? Can I just like put the SIM card in or do I have to have a specific plan just for me and the iPhone?
    Thanks a lot

I have my Iphone on a a family plan but as with all cell planes the individual phones have thier own 2yr contracts. I actually got the Iphone after I got the other phone and then swithched to family plan. so the first phone will run out before the iphone. Also, Just some FYI. Im thinking about switching the numbers between phones which you can do with the Iphone and reactivate the Iphone with the new sim card and it will not effect you plan with the Iphone but if you put a new sim card in the other phone which is a ATT phone I will need to start a neew plan. So basically Im saying that the Iphone contracts have some diffences that you might want to make yourself aware of that very from the ATT phone plan. Also keep in mind that the Iphone has a nuilt in battery and that has a life limmit depending on charges so cell phones really only last for a couple of years under normal use. Depnding on how much you charge.

  • Using iPhone with two computers

    Home PC - MacBook Pro
    Work PC - Windows
    both running iTunes 7.7
My music is on my home Mac and I manually create playlists, add music etc.
With my 3G Nano, I can connect and listen to songs on my iPod from my work PC. I can't seem to do this with my iPhone - my PC sees the iPhone but all of the music is greyed out and cannot be selected.
Is it a limitation of the iPhone that I cannot use it with two computers in this way, or is it a configuration issue?
I would prefer not to have to buy a set of external speakers just to use my iPhone to play music at work.
    thanks
    Shane

Actually, there are several articles on the web about the fact that you CAN
synch the itunes with two computers. Music, Video, and Ringtones can be done from one computer, and Mail, Contacts, etc. can be done from a second computer.
Just do a Yahoo search on "synching iPhone with two computers."
If you are trying to do music from two computers, you are right, that will not work. There is a program, which I think the Yahoo search above will also uncover that allows you to do a "swap," where you can have the songs from one computer show up on the iPhone, and when you swap, the songs from the other computer show up. I am not sure if this utility survived the upgrage to version 2.0 of the softweare.
    cheers,
    Ray

  • Can I use iPhone with Partner Coverage?

The area where I am located has Partner coverage for AT&T. Is it possible I can use the iPhone with Partner converage?
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   17-inch iMac Intel Core 2 Duo

Very doubtful - no is more like it.
If you roam on an AT&T Wireless affiliate or partner coverage more than 50% of the time on a regular basis - AT&T Wireless will cancel your contract and they won't allow you to become a subscriber in the first place unless you reside in an area that is covered by AT&T's own network.
You should confirm this with AT&T Wireless.

  • Any way to test a used Iphone with another AT&T sim (non-iphone)?

Looking at a used iphone 2g Monday and I'd like to know if I can swap in my brother's AT&T non-iphone sim card to see if i can make calls or if other features are working.
the P.O. says he has wiped it but I'd like a way to know if said iphone works before getting home to plug into itunes. also said the only thing that comes on the screen when turned on is something saying to connect to itunes.
    Are these phones generally ok?
Even the ones that brick from uneducated hacking seem to have a fix.
    Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

You would need to activate the phone to test it as far as making calls and such. If the seller is legit, he should have no problem plugging in the phone to iTunes are reactivating it for you to show you it works.
Personally, I would buy a brand new phone with a warranty unless this guy is selling the phone super cheap (less than $100).

  • Help with using Iphone with NEW computer

I have a new computer and want to use my iphone with it. I dont have any songs on the new one and cannot transfer them however i can eventually rebuild my song list. What i want to know is when i sync my iphone to my new computer i no that means it will put whatevers in my library on it but when it comes to settings, applications, photos, sms messages what happens with those, will it just erase everything? Im just a little confused with everything.
Help would be much appreciated! :-D thanks

Yep... everything will be gone because the computer will think it's a new iPhone.
You can download the applications from the AppStore again for free, but your music will be lost. Consider using an application like ifunbox to copy the music from your iPhone to the PC before installing iTunes.

  • Use iPhone with University Network

I want to use my iPhone with the wi-fi available at my university, but I need to register it to the server/network with a MAC ID. How would I access that info?

You will have to ask your IT department what their policy is regarding the iPhone since it is not a laptop (which is what they are expecting)

  • Problems Using iPhone with Audi Bluetooth Kit

I have several problems using the iPhone with the factory-installed bluetooth car kit that came with my '08 Audi A4.
    (1) I can not download my contacts from the iPhone to the car's built-in phone book. Thus, I can't see the names of incoming callers, as there is no way to enter text into the car's phone book.
    (2) I can not answer calls, or end calls, by pushing the correct button the on the steering wheel. So, after I initiate a call and finish the conversation, pushing the disconnect button has no effect. I have to push "end call" directly on the iPhone. When a call comes in, I can't answer by pushing the correct button on the wheel. I must answer call directly on the iPhone.
Anyone else having these problems? Any suggestions for fixing this?

firstly, we have an brand new A4, Audi have said they can pair some 3G phones and not pair some.
Apple have refused to acknowledge the problem, but have now said their is a new update out this month which should address any problems.
This would make sense as our friendly guy at audi said to me, the 3G phones he has paired and uploaded phone books for customers, he couldn't tell what version of the iphone3g they had, so if it was an earlier version it would pair, and the later versions won't.
also, there is now a 3G cable for the ipod connection via MMi, which works perfectly !
so while we can't get address books for now, it will come.
the other work around is, take an old nokia/ecricsson phone, sync it to your mac and upload your contacts, then pair to audi, hey presto you have your mac contacts on the audi.
