I am using logic to record a podcast and using soundboard to use as a playback for music and sound effects.  I'd like to soft patch sound board into logic, and still use my interface for recording audio from the other members of the podcast.

I am using logic to record a podcast.  I have a presonus firestudio mobile for my interface so I can record several people at the same time.  I'm also using Soundboard for a playback system for music and sound effects.  I'd like to know how to soft patch Soundboard into Logic while still using the Firestudio interface to record the other members of the podcast.  Does anyone know how to do this? and if so can you tell me how to do it?  Thanks.

Thanks. Now, since Apple failed to provide an audio in jack for their new and improved iMacs (mine has one), all I can suggest is that you contact AppleCare, since you have 90-dqy free phone support. If need be, you might reconsider your purchase, but that's for you to decide.

  • How do I record audio from the internet in AA CS6?

When I used AA 2.0 and 5.5... I was always able start recording a wave file... minimize AA and roll a song or interview on the internet and record it.
Now that I've upgraded to AA CS6 I haven't been able to do that.
I've intalled the latest ASIO driver for my Presonus Firebox sound card and can record from all other sources,.. turntable, cassette deck (don't laugh)... midi... etc.
I've double and quadruple checked my hardware and channel routing settings and all seem to be correct.  Even tried a new fireware cable.  So it just seems that even though I can hear mp3s and wavs coming from my PC through the sound card fine... the audio just isn't getting to Audition.  When I monitor the input all I get is the noise floor reading.
I have a Gigabyte mother board with onboard Realtek HD audio... which is disabled... don't even think the drivers are installed for that.  Could that be the problem.  I have always been under the impression that on board audio should be disabled when your using an external ASIO sound card.  One other thing I noticed is that when I go into control panel and open "sounds and audio devices"... all the ins and outs there match the settings in CS6 but on the first tab for "volume" the device volume slider is greyed out.
If any of this raises a red flag that I'm missing... please let me know what you think.  I'd be indeed grateful
    Thanks

Morning Bob.. thanks for your quick reply...
Sorry I didn't provide a profile of my set-up/signal chain
Actually I'm still one of the hold-outs... OS is still Win XP Pro service pack 3.  I tied what you advised regarding "hidden devices" in sounds and device controllers but in XP there does not seem to be anywhere to right click to bring up the list of hidden devices.
As I mentioned my sound card is an external Presonus Firebox which is firewired to a firewire card in the tower... the Gigabyte mobo has onboard Realtek HD audio which is disabled.
I use the rear inputs and outputs of the Firebox and control audio levels with a Mackie 802 mixer.  The only thing in my setup that changed was upgrading to CS6.
By the way, the recording problem goes beyond the internet.  I used to be able to playback saved mp3s in realplayer, mediaplayer, etc and record them in 2.0 and 5.5.  Most of those files were recorded as wav and converted to mp3 pro.  I realize that CS6 does not support mp3 pro.. but even when I convert those files to mp3 I have the same problem on play back that AA CS6 doesn't get a level.  But again, AA can receive audio from any other source I use.
Wondering if I should try reinstalling and enabling the Realtek HD audio drivers and seeing if that makes a difference.  My uneducated guess is that will create a device conflict blocking AA from accessing the Firebox until Realtek is done.
    Would appreciate your thoughts
    Many thanks

  • Recording audio from the web without recording sound from the internal microphone...

Is there a way to record audio sound sources, for example a webcast in a browser, without without also recording sound thru the built in internal microphone on the MacPro laptop running Mountain Lion?

You need something along the lines of Audio Hijack Pro or WireTap Studio.  The latter is currently broken in Lion and Mountain Lion for your purposes, so that leaves Audio Hijack Pro.  Neither is free, but both are worth their asking price (well, WireTap Studio will be once they deign to repair it).

  • Recording audio from the net ?

What are simple means to record an audio stream from the net on my PowerBook, like a podcast (not a live broadcast, not a line-input) ? Can QuickTime do it ?
    Thanx in advance,

    Hmm...
Sorry, I don't like to argue with you but I just bought QT-Pro and made a test:
I recorded music played on an Internet webpage (I believe by means of a Flash Player) with QT-Pro.
Then I played it back again in QT - and it was there - although in poor sound quality.

  • Need a clever solution for removing audio from the video gaps...

Here's a tiny section of my timeline:
I want to delete all the audio in the areas where there's no video so that it looks like this:
I was planning on just doing it manually one at a time, but my timeline is 3 hours long and there's over 500 gaps... that would take a very long time. So I was hoping somebody would have better method... sort of like a ripple delete all that would ignore audio. Everything is unlinked.
    -Pete

Select video and move it up onto color matte.
    Let go
Pick it up again and move it to track 3
Dont let go, hold shift and move audio to track 2
    Deselect
Select color matte and left over audio: ripple delete.

  • Is it  possible to record audio from the audio in port instead of the default microphone?

The quality of the audio would be better if I could provide it via the audio in port of the Mac rather than defaulting to the built in mike in the display.  Can I do that?

Yes. Specifics depend on the recording app being usded. For instance, for QT X, select "Built-in Input: Line Input" in the dropdown menu. Other apps may require you to select the "Line In" option in the "System Preferences.../Sound/Input" panel.

  • Recording audio from a soundboard

Hello fellow iMac'ers, got a brand iMac with OSX Mavericks. I'm trying to set it up to record sound from a Peavey XR1212. I'm a PC guy, so I'm used to using Audacity to do the same procedure, so I downloaded it and tried to get it to work.  The soundboard has an "mp3 in" line as well as an RCA out jack.  The iMac does not have a mic in line, only a headphone port.  I called Apple Support and the representative informed me that the headphone port on the Mac is smart enough to determine whether I would be using it for headphones of a mic in line, so I should put the mic in line there.  So my set up was running an RCA jack (red and white connected to soundboard) with a headphone jack on the other end into the headphone port on the Mac.  When I began recording on the through Audacity, the program did not show me the soundboard or the RCA jack as one of the available options to choose to record sound from, it defaulted to the internal mic on the Mac as the only option.
I did not try going from the "mp3 in" line from the soundboard (which btw is a headphone port as well) to the headphone port on the back of the Mac.  I use an auxiliary cord to play music from the Mac through the soundboard with these headphone ports, but it just didn't seem obvious to me that this set up could be used for recording.
While I was downloading Audacity, the Mac was updating garageband, which I have little to no familiarity with.  I have done some research and found out that I could potentially use this to record from my soundboard as well.  So finally here is my questions:
    1) The back of the iMac has 4 USB ports, 1 FireWire port, 1 headphone port and 1 ethernet port.  Since there is no "mic-in" port, what port can I use to record audio from the soundboard in audacity or garageband?
    2) If I go from the soundboard with an RCA into the headphone port on the Mac, can I use garageband to record?

Thanks. Now, since Apple failed to provide an audio in jack for their new and improved iMacs (mine has one), all I can suggest is that you contact AppleCare, since you have 90-dqy free phone support. If need be, you might reconsider your purchase, but that's for you to decide.

  • Record audio from .exe file

Hi we had created an entire project of 2.5 hours of around 140 slides using Adobe Captivate 6. We had put the slide notes as text and published an .exe file and shared the same with the client.
However, now we have lost the source captivate .cptx file and have to redo the project from scratch.  We have the powerpoint presentation for each slide so putting the objects as per the .exe is not an issue.
We figured the easiest way to have the audio is to record directly from the .exe and then put the audio files in captivate, rather than putting slide notes and repeating the entire process.
Is there a way to directly record audio from the .exe file? This will reduce our effort with respect to the pronunciation of words.

Double-click your .exe file and let it run, do not close. If you're on Windows 7 go to
    C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Temp\
and look for a folder like CPE7770.tmp. You can use the date and time stamp to locate this folder.
Your swf file will be there.
If on another Windows OS, the path should be similar.
You can also use software like Audacity or Audition to record audio from your computer. Set up will depend on your system config.
    Cheers,
    Seth

  • How would I record audio from iphone into computer?

i was wondering if anybody could help me.
i want to hook up my ipod to my computer and record the audio from the iphone
how would i go about doing that?

The OP would like to "record audio from the iPhone", not copy audio files across.
Once we find out which audio (existing files or live through the mic) we'll be able to offer suggestions.
For exisatinf audio, the first choice is obviously iTunes and sync, but I suspect it's the latter, in which case I'd recommend the free app: Megaphone Free.
It directs the sound picked up by the microphone to the headphone socket, so you can then just record the Line-in signal on the Mac.

  • Use QuickTime Pro to extract audio from VCD

Can I use QuickTime Pro to extract the audio from a VCD? after that, I would like to convert that audio file to an mp3.

MPEG Streamclip is exactly what I needed. Thank you!
For others with the same need, here's my workflow for Extracting Audio from a VCD:
    * Pop the vcd into a computer and open it up.
    * Navigate to the MPEGAV folder. You should see something like AVSEQ01.DAT.
    * rename that to AVSEQ01.mpg
    * Drag this new .mpg file into MPEG Streamclip
    * File/Export Audio . . .
    * Open up Audacity (optional)
    * File/Open . . .
    * direct it to the newly created .mp3
    * Trim off any extra audio (I didn't want the opening credits, etc. on the .mp3)
    * File/Export as .mp3

No but there's a link to reset your password. Etc etc..
This is the email I got.
"Your Apple ID was just used to download Photoshop Touch for phone £2.99 from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.

  • Recording audio from firewire video source

What does it take for Soundbooth (or more specifically OS X) to recognize firewire video as an audio source?
I have a video conversion box that accepts analog video/audio input and connects via firewire to my MacBookPro. I can use that to capture video with Premiere or OnLocation, and extract the audio from that, but in the event I'm just converting an audio source, I'd like to use the same box to capture audio directly to Soundbooth. But 'Audio MIDI Setup' shows only built-in input and a USB audio source.
Otherwise I either have to use built-in audio input (normally not available because I have external speakers plugged in), or get a USB or firewire audio interface. I'll probably do that eventually but was hoping for a software solution of some sort.

You should look into WireTap Studio from Ambrosia software. It will record ANYTHING at all that goes through your sound card, regardless of the original source. I know, "If I paid for SoundBooth, why should I go buy another piece of software?"
I've used Wiretap since 2002 when it was still a freebie. It's gotten a lot better in eight years, and when you see everything you can do with it (like recoding streaming audio from the web, or podcasts, getting soundbytes from DVDs, or recording from your TV or even live with a mic) you'll agree that it's another $69, but $69 well spent.
I used Wiretap to convert more than 1400 cassettes into mp3. I've also pulled songs from movies that are unavailable anywhere. I've recorded live TV audio. You have a multitude of format and quality choices for recording and saving.

  • Recording audio from a Channel Send

I've done this before, but I can't seem to do it again.
I am trying to record audio from one channel (which is using an audio instrument) to another channel (an audio channel) using an audio send. I am not having a problem setting up the send. I am able to hear the audio correctly and independently on both channels. The problem occurs when I try to record the audio, because there is no "record" button on the channel header for me to arm the track. The track is set up as a "record-enabled" track, but in the space where the other tracks have the record button, there is just a empty space on this tracks header. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Well,
I seem to have found the problem. It appears that "audio tracks" will not allow you to arm them for recording unless there is a possible real audio input device connected to the computer. I plugged in my Snoball mic, allowed Logic to set it up as a device, and the record button magically appeared in the track header.
Hope this helps anyone else who is having a similar issue.
