I am using my old iphone 3g as an ipod but it wont connect to wifi. What's wrong?
My dad gave me the iphone 3g and i am currently using it as an ipod. but i have a problem that i need to fix. It wont connet to wifi. It wont even let me click the wifi option on the settings menu. I need to know whats wrong.
Could be a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else.
If no change after resetting network settings on the iPhone and/or after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the iPhone's backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

Hi - I need help. I would like to use my old iPhone 3 as an iPod for music only. Problem is that my phone is locked with a password I can't remember. I havent used the phone since I got my iPhone 4. Thanks for your prompt response, however I have first seen it now. I have placed an active SIM card in the iPhone turned it off and on. It now says SIM locked, please write access code. The problem is I don't remember the password. When I connect it to iTunes it tell me that I have to write the password before it can be used with iTunes...... Do you have any good ideas? I see you are from the NYC area.... used to work there back in the early 90´ Those were good days..... What a City -
I was using my old iPhone 4 as an iPod for 4 months when one day I got this error message saying "phone is deactivated visit your local to reactive" ... what the heck??? now the freakin thing won't even charge!!!
Nope. I've already turned off cellular data. It happens regardless, as soon as it is done powering on.
I suspect it might just be built into the phone's firmware to do that... and I have to hit "ignore" whenever it happens, but I just wanted confirmation of that... -

You can try this:
1) restart your computer
2) once restarted, do not run anything else, except for launching iTunes manually
3) connect your devices to your computer

Is it possible to restrict the Cellular network so that my iPhone 4s will effectively be an iPod? I am trying to give my old iPhone to my daughter for use as an iPod and do not what her to be able to use any cellular services.

I got a new phone and wondered if I could use my old iPhone 4s as an iPod. It seems like I should be able to if I just erase everything and add music but I don't know if iTunes will recognize it as a phone or iPod or be weird. Yes you can use it as an iPod. I use my old iPhone 4 as an iPod. When you restore an iPhone(on iTunes), it should still recognise the iPhone as an iPhone and go through the new phone set up process. Once you have set the phone up there is a message saying 'No sim card installed!' but you can ignore the message and use the phone as an iPod.

I have a new powerbook and want to give my girlfriend my old G4 power book, she has a new iphone 5s, and wants to create a new itunes/apple id. When i try to de authorize the G4 and sign in with her new apple ID it says bad password, how can i release the G4 from my cluster of authorized apples and make her the owner so she can download music and more importantly sync her music with her phone, she only has 3 songs on her iphone, and loaded all her CD's into the g4 but cant sync, im no dummy and this shouldnt be hard, but its driving me crazy!!!!!!

It sounds like your phone is in recovery mode, which means it needs to be restored through iTunes on your computer in order to get out of it.

I want to use my old iphone for my kids as an ipod. How do I keep from getting text messages on it when it is turned on? If it is on, and my droid razar is on, text messages will go to the iphone. It is either a 4 or 4s ...I don't have Siri, so I think it's a 4. Thanks
Another thing to remember is the phone is actually usable for 911 calls and maybe others. Not a real good idea. Especially for a child.
