I am wondering if the I pad is like a I pod touch?

yes my daughter is really wanting a I Pad2 and I tild her to wait they might becoming out with the I Pad 3? Anyway is the I Pad kind of like a I Pod touch? I know that you can play games and do music and internet everything am I right? Thanks. I am a new user with all of this the kids are so much smarter then me on this technology

They are very similar. In many ways, an iPad is just a touch with more real estate. They share many of the same apps (differences being that iPhone/Touch apps do work on an iPad, but they are 'tiny' in that they only take up the middle of the screen. they will expand to fit the whole screen but sometimes look blocky because they're a lower resolution than the iPad screen.  Many iPad apps are formatted solely for the larger screen and don't transition down so you have more iPad that don't work on the Touch than vice versa)

Touch
Pros
cheaper, more portable, easier for a kid's fingers, maybe more sturdy in that it's a smaller screen
Cons
smaller screen, easier to lose or leave sitting
iPad
Pros
larger screen, many HD apps including educational ones, even bigger it's still very portable
Cons
That larger screen is vulnerable and if hte glass breaks it's around 300 or more to repair (price dpends on the model), it's a highly coveted device so a thief magnet
As a parent you may also wish to consider that there's not a lot of parental control stuff....there's not 'net nanny' programs if you wish to monitor or control their online activities (this applies to both devices)
But, in essence, an iPad is a larger version of a Touch, with a few more bells and whistles.
