I am wondering if these jackals realize how much they screw people on these unnecessary "activation fees"?

I was promised by Best Buy there would be no activation fee on Feb 10 2015 at the Colorado Blvd location in Denver, CO. After several chats with no recourse, I called up the Customer Service line.
Louis, the rep, decides to secretly patch in the Best Buy Manager (Billy), who wasn't present when his lacky promised me no extra fees. The Best Buy guy decides to break into the conversation by combating what he thinks happened the day I was there.
I tell Louis, I am done speaking to you, let me have your supervisor. Ty, who promised to reprimand Louis for handling this situation so poorly promises me that the way his boss would want him to handle my situation would be to offer me 15 free minutes of talk time on my already unlimited plan. That was the best he would do.
It's amazing how a customer can commit to paying 120+ dollars per month for 2 lines for a two-year contract like me, but these jackals can't refund me the 40$ that I was scammed out of to keep a customer long term. I truly believe that the truly educated reps would figure out a way to let me keep my 40$ so that they could keep a customer long term. But, I guess that's why these desk jockeys are working the jobs that they are because in the end, I am just another angry Verizon customer to them.
My contract ends in November 2015. My relationship with this trash ends as well.

It appears to me you are an unhappy BEST BUY customer since they are the ones which promised you no activation fee. You should be trying to get the activation fee refunded by BEST BUY.
Occasionally, Verizon has a promotion where there is not activation fee, but even in these cases you are initially charged the activation fee and after 2-3 months of service it is credited back to your account. If you signed up for service during one of these periods, you should wait the requisite 2-3 months to see if you actually receive your activation fee credit.

  • Does Nokia realize how much they hurt themselves ?

Does Nokia realize how much they hurt themselves and how many potential new customers they lose because they do not want to wait forever ?
    Some examples :
We wait and wait and wait for WP8.1+Cyan.
Why do they keep so quite, so tight lipped, so misterious about it ?
When are they going to release it for both LOCKED and UNLOCKED phones ?
When are they finally going to communicate about the release schedules ?
The many complaints about unsharp and yellowish photos since the Amber firmware :
    - or they couldn't care less,
    - or they do not know what we mean. In this case they could at least ask for more info instead of hiding in their ivory tower.
    - or they are simply not as good as they (and we) thought (or pretended) they were ?
The many WiFi problems with WP8.1 Dev.Prev. and Nokia phones
Do they know about it ?
Do they have a solution for it in Cyan ?
Why didn't they come up with a Cyan preview together with WP8.1 Dev.Prev.
Do they really think that keeping so mute helps them to exite their customers ?
Lots of potential new users/customers are tired waiting so long and they finally go for an iPhone or an android one.
I do have several L925 and I am at the point of no return myself : ditch them for something that does work and that is fairly documented.
Hey Nokia, suite yourself but stop being so distant from your customers.

As WP is developed by Microsoft, it is their choice to release a developer preview. Nokia have never released preview versions of their software, this might change in future with the new owner.
There was a very clear announcement that the official WP8.1+Cyan update will reach all WP8 Lumias within Q3 of 2014 - which only started less than two weeks ago.
The problems with developer preview versions of WP8.1 can only be solved within WP8.1 - Cyan has nothing to do with it. Ask Microsoft if they are aware of the problems - which I'm sure they are, since that's the whole point of releasing a preview.
What makes you think that customers on other OS wait less longer for firmware updates? Or it's different when you splash out for a new iphone and know that you will wait at least one year before any update comes - and hope that they don't mess about with the proprietary connectors again.

  • How did Apple screw up the maps app this badly?

I am normally not a complainer, but rather appreciate great technology.
However, I am shocked beyond description about how badly Apple screwed up the maps application in IOS 6.
The maps application is the by far the most frequently used and most useful iphone application for me.
I rely on it all the time.  It WAS so incredibly easy to use, and almost always dependable.
Yes, turn-by-turn directions would be nice, but not at the cost of screwing up so many other critical features.
I have now had 2 extremely frustrating experiences.
The other night, I was driving home from work and using the maps application to route to a store.  I was using the voice instruction mode.  There was heavy traffic so I wanted to zoom out / around to look for alternate routes.  Well, this is almost impossible to do, and furthermore, there is much less accurate and detailed information about traffic conditions.  This would have been a piece of cake with the old maps application.
Yesterday, I had to make a trip to Pacific Sales in San Jose.I tried "Pacific" with the mapped zoomed to the general area, and it could not find it.Then I tried "Pacific sales", again no luck.  Its an appliance store, so I tried "appliances", and again no luck.
Finally, I had to log into the web, go to google maps, and find it there.
It was slow, but it worked!
1 month ago, I had the highest confidence in Apple due to their track record of deliverying great stuff that works and is easy to use.
I would never have considered an android phone.
However, this problem with the maps app has so shaken my confidence in Apple, that I will go today to look at a Samsung Galaxy III.
Maybe its not going to be my thing, but I hope Apple realizes how big they screwed up.
The Apple of Steve Jobs would never, ever, ever have let this happen.
The old Apple would have stayed with Google Maps for another year, and made this new maps app better, more reliable, and more user friendly than Android BEFORE releasing it.  It would have been revolutionarily good and would have surprised us with how good it was.
I really truly love Apple and its products.
But this is a really bad mistake and I am so fearful that its an omen of whats to come in future from Apple.
I would not be surprised if this very deeply damages Apple at a time when the competition is getting tougher & tougher.
Of all the functions on the Apple Iphone, the maps are the heart and soul.  Apple is probably right to go its own way eventually, but not like this!
It is just going to drive people into the arms of Android.
I am just curious, did Apple actually test this thing thoroughly before releasing it?
I mean, it took me only a few days to figure out this thing is total crap.
How did Apple not know this (which is a very scary thought), or maybe even more scary, maybe they did know but feel they have enough market power to get away with it?  I can't think of any other explanations. So, which is it?  Either way, its very bad news for Apple fans.

Ok, 3 more wonderful IOS 6 maps experiences to share!
When out shopping for paints, decided to visit Kelly Moore.
Used the maps app and used it to take me to the nearest store, except it was not where maps said it would be!
I called the Kelly Moore store, and they told me the maps app has the wrong town, and they have had many customers with the same problem!
Next up, I was looking for a Sherwin Williams store in San Jose, so maps took me to El Camino Real, except it took me to the wrong end of El Camino Real in Santa Clara, about 15 minutes from the right destination in Mountain View!  In fact, the app took me to Santa Clara University!
Last up, I was looking for a Chevron station.  Apps routed me to the location, but no gas station.
So, I finally decide to use google maps through the browser, and it ends up it was again the right address but wrong city!!!!
Unbelievable!  My confidence in Apple has been further shaken, to where I am about to give up.
I just can't trust their app, which is something I depend on every day to save me time, money and gas.
So disappointed in Apple right now...  It makes antenna gate look like a minor incident, which it was in my opinion!

  • How much memory/space are Mac Apps Taking?

I know this is probably a very simple question for you experts but as a newbie, I dont know how to figure it out.  Im trying to find out how much hard drive space (and maybe memory?) the apps I have downloaded from the Mac App Store are taking up?  Where would I find this?  Ive looked in the Finder but couldnt find what I was looking for?  Does the Activity Moniitor or something else break it down to just the Mac Apps?
Also do you know if Time Machine saves your organizational Launchpad Folders when you back up your machine?  Just was curious if you had to switch macs or something, if the folders would all come back up or if  its best to keep a list of what apps you have in what folders.
I also was wondering if anyone else has had a problem of your Launchpad Folders and individual apps within folders getting out of order when you have to restart your system.  Since I dont yet have an iphone and apps were new to me, I got a little crazy in downloading a bunch of free apps and games (many of which I think Im going to start deleting because I dont really use them)...but Ive organized them in all in alphabetical order - Ive got folders in Alphabetical Order as well as the apps within folders in alphabetical order.  Its strange becuase whenever my system gets restarted, several of the folders and apps get mixed up.  Ive been working with Apple techs on this for weeks but just curious if anyone else has had a similar problem.  The tech told me most people dont keep it as well organized as I do.
    Thanks.

    You can do this:

To find out how much hard drive space (or how large the App is), Right-Click on the App in your Applications folder and choose Get Info. This will show you xx MBs on Disk (hard drive). To see how much memory the App is using, check Activity Monitor while the App is running. It will be on the list of all processes running.
But you can also click the  (apple) in the upper left hand corner of the screen and select about this mac>more infor>storage

  • How much do Apple charge to replace your iPhone?

Basically my iPhone is messed up, the buttons are pushed in slightly, they still work but yeah. the phone will randomly vibrate when it's on silent. the text tone will stutter badly, the new screen which was fitted hasnt been placed on properly so dust gets in and not only this but i have the feeling there is internal damage as well. now instead of going to a repair shop etc. I got told Apple will either repair it or replace it with a new (same model) phone and because the warranty has ran out, I was just wondering how much they will charge?

That is why I said keep an open mind...you have to evaluate just what you are willing to accept and what is the most cost-effective thing for you to do.  We're all fellow users on here and can just give our experience.  But do keep an open mind, consider what they are willing to work out with you and do what is in your best interest.

  • How much does it cost to make the Nano?

I've heard that for a 4GB Samsung chip, which the Nano uses is only about US$135. Obviously then there is the LCD screen and other stuff. But I was wondering, does anybody know roughly how much it costs to make a 4GB Nano? (not including the pay for the labour, just the actual parts)

I remember i read a cnet article about it. Samsung charges $54 for the 2gb memory modules. I'm guessing they charge $108 for the 4gb modules. This is very underpriced and could only be offered by Samsung because there the largest manufacturer of memory in the world. They added it up and the total cost in parts is about $90 excluding labor for the 2gb nano. The nano is apple most profitable product at the moment. Job has a reputation of keep the profit margain 20% on his products. The Nano is over 50%.

  • How much do apple(UK) charge to replace a cracked screen on an ipad 4th gen?

My son accidentally dropped our ipad 4th gen retina display on the kitchen tiles and the screen glass has shattered in the top right corner and there are 2 large cracks across the screen which end at the home button. The ipad is still in full working order apart from the cracked screen (I am using it now) I have booked to take it into apple next week and it is still under warranty. Just wondered if anybody has any idea on how much they will charge for the repair? Thanks

Accidental damage isn't covered by the warranty. Here in the UK the cost for replacing the iPad 4 (it's not repaired) is £249 (from here, add £7.44 if shipping is required).

  • How much work is it to create a custom flash player with chapter navigation

I am bidding on a job to do a simple instructional video that will be about 2 minutes in length.  The client wants me to put the video in a flash player that has some buttons on it that a user can click on to go to a specific step.  The instructions will have, for example, 10 steps, so they want to be enable the view to click on any one of the step numbers to jump to that point in the video.
I did a google search for flash programmers who would quote me on how much they would charge me to create the flash player after I sent them an encoded video.  The only company that bothered to give me a quote said that it would be 5 to 7 thousand dollars for them to create a flash player with navigation for me.  I was thinking that this would be like a 2 or 3 hour job for someone who knows flash.  Is it really that time-consuming to create a flash player with chapter navigation?
Am I starting to think that I am in the wrong business if you guys are getting $5k to $7k to set up a relatively simple player to put on a web page.
I've got the Master collection but have never wanted to take the time to learn flash.  But if I could charge that much for jobs, maybe I better learn!

I don't really know how to do this but I've seen some things that make me think it isn't that hard to do at all.
You should be able to install "cue points" when you encode the video in the Media Encoder.
I'm sure there's a very simple way to make links which would target those cue points.
    5k is absurd.

  • How much would it cost me to trade in my 16gb iPhone 4s to get a 32gb iphone 4s?

How much would it cost me to trade in my 16gb iPhone 4s to get a 32gb iphone 4s?

You will need to take to an Apple retailer to find out how much they will give for the trade-in.

  • EP-480 Ear Plugs, How much are they real

In AUS$, how much they worth?

It appears it would be in your best interest to pay full retail for a new phone as that would be cheaper over the life of the phone than paying for the amount of data you use.
To answer your questions, I have my data limit set because that is the actual amount of data I need. I had unlimited data for several years before switching to the Share Everything plan. Not once did I ever come close to even using 1 GB of data. I didn't "need" to be under 1 GB of data, I just didn't use that much data. The same can be said for the other smartphone on my account at the time. That was 2 unlimited data plans at $30 each for a combined monthly data total of normally under 1 GB. I now have 4 smartphones on my plan and our data allowance is 4 GB($70/month vs $120/month if we had 4 separate data plans). We normally use between 1.9 GB/month and 2.2 GB/month.
This amount of data which we use will give us MUCH more than calling, texting and "occasionally googling the nearest Cheesecake Factory".
Of course, everyone's needs are different and it would obviously be much cheaper for you to pay full retail for an upgrade when/if you choose to do so.

  • How much is McAfee subscription once the free time is up?

I've been getting reminders from McAfee that my free subscription is about to end but nothing about how much they charge for it afterwards. I'd rather get rid off it if only they didn't make it so hard to do it. So, if they don't charge too much, I just might go with them.

    Hi NWDude,
I moved this topic to this board so we can discuss security software options for your McAfee.
I do not have information on the price of renewal. You probably should contact McAfee regarding that.
You did not mention your operating system. If it is Windows 8, Windows Defender is part of Windows 8 and can be activated after McAfee is removed. Windows Defender on Win 8 is a full FREE anti-VIRUS product as opposed to Windows Defender on Win 7/Vista/XP where it is simply a free anti-spyware program.  If you are using Windows 7, you can install another AV such as Avast! or Microsoft Security Essentials yourself.
If you are using Windows 8 here are the steps for removing McAfee:
    * Open the McAfee Control Center, and DISABLE  all of McAfee’s components that you see enabled and running.
    * Next, via the Control Panel, locate the section to uninstall programs, and use this to UNinstall McAfee.  Note:  As mentioned above, there is a McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR) tool. Version 6.5.101 is compatible with Windows 8.
    http://mcafee-consumer-product-removal-tool.soft32.com/
(Note: Some people have had problems using the tool and have suggested to simply use the Control Panel to remove McAfee.)
After McAfee removal and reboot if Defender is successfully running you should be okay.
    * Reboot your system.   Confirm that Windows Defender is now running as your anti-virus.
If you are using Windows 7, following your McAfee removal, you would install your choice of free products if that is what you have decided to use.
There is a list of free products HERE in Lenovo's KB Articles.
I use Microsoft Security Essentials along with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and have been very happy with the way they work together to protect 2 of my computers. I use ESET NOD32, a paid product, along with Malwarebytes on another computer. I've been happy with that as well.

  • How much does it cost to replace the superdrive on an iBook?

It appears that I have a mechanical failure in the slot-loading superdrive on my 14" G4 iBook. If I take it to my local apple store, does anyone know roughly how much it'll cost if they have to replace it with a new drive ($USD)? My one-year warranty ran out three weeks ago. Typical.
    Thanks.

I can only speak from personal experience. When my CD-Rom drive needed to be replaced 18 months ago I was quoted a price of $300.00 by the Apple Store. That seems to be a basic price for cracking the case. A Superdrive might be more expensive.
MCE offers a self-install for $129.00. On the same page is a link to service providers. I have no idea how much they would charge for the installation.
    http://www.mcetech.com/ibg4dvdr8dl.html
DT&T will replace it for a $75.00 install fee plus $145.00 for the drive itself. They are located in California so you would have to pay shipping both ways.

  • How much video record time do I have on iphone6

how much video record time do I have on iPhone 6

Your basic limitation is how much free storage space is left on the phone (found in Settings / General / Usage). How much time does each GB equate to depends on how you are shooting. The i6 shoots at 30 fps by default but can be set to do so at 60 fps. Plus you can shoot at regular speed or slow motion. Unfortunately, Apple does not publish exact specs on the device manual, so you'll have to do some test shots and see how much they take and extrapolate from that.
BTW, the iPhone 6/6+ manual is found here (or you can download it for free in the iBooks app)
