I am writing a book to be published.  how to i get my pages documents to PDF or JPG or something else that is at least 224 pixels per inch?

i am writing a book to be published.  how do i get my "pages document" to a high definition level...at least 224 pixels per inch?  i can get to 150 ppi via preview to JPG, but that seems to be the best i can do with my new snow leopard imac.

Hello Barbara,
> i have text written in Pages and these need to be at least 224 ppi.
i also have photo collages that were created in Pages and also need to be at least 224 ppi.
the book has about 60 pages of photo collages and about 30 pages of text.
If you want to print using a digital press or an offset lithographic press at high resolution, then you typography is resolution independent but your photography is not. In other words, you must embed into your Pages document the images in the resolution that is right for rendering in the high resolution raster image processor.
Raster image processors will as a rule of thumb produce good quality detail if you embed photographs with 300 dot per inch resolution. Because raster image processors differ in how they reproduce detail, and because this information is generally not public a rule of thumb principle is applied in preparing the page description for printing.
By default, if you use colour transparency in your work, the system graphics service will detect this and save out PDF 1.4 automatically. However, not all raster image processors have PDF frontends that accept PDF 1.4. For this reason, there is a fallback which you must set up yourself.
If the receiving raster image processor does not have a PDF frontend that accepts PDF 1.4, you have to manually enter the resolution at which the transparency will be rendered. The system graphics service will then render the resolution for you and save out what it technically termed a 'flattended PDF'.
Alternatively, if you don't want to work with the Apple ColorSync Utility yourself, you can send your PDF 1.4 with resolution independent transparency to a prepress operator who will then use specialised software to render the resolution for the specifics of the service he or she is selling you.
If you want to work with the prepress interface in system graphics services, then below is a link to summary on setting up the ColorSync Utility for ISO 15930-3:2002 PDF/X-3. This passes prepress preflight testing in Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0.1 (the first version that tested for PDF/X-3).

I bought the wrong book in ibooks. How can i get  a refund?

A refund may not be possible since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html
It's possible they'll make an exception for you.
    Good luck.

This is usually a function of the driver you're using. Have you looked in the various PDEs for black and white or grayscale? What kind of printer are you using?

I recently purchased a book on itunes. How do I get it into ibooks? On itunes it says that it is downoaded...but to where has it been downloaded?

If you bought it on your computer's iTunes then it will have downloaded to the Books section of your computer's iTunes library. You should be able to sync it to the iBooks by connecting and selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC) and then on the Books tab on the right-hand side of the screen selecting and syncing that book. Or you should also be able to re-download it directly on the iPad via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app - it should sync/download to the Books collection in the app.

Did you create these notes in the iPad notes App ... I assume?
This support article will explain how you can restore from a backup - which is what you have to do in order to have any chance of recovering your note.
How to backup and restore from a backup
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
But you have to remember, that you will lose any of the notes that you have taken since the date of the last backup. If you synced your iPad last week, then you will lose a whole week of current notes - or whatever notes you have created since your last backup. When you restore from a backup - you restore everything in that backup onto the iPad - that was on the iPad on the time and date of the backup.
If you backup every day, then all of your notes should be recoverable from the backup - except for any notes that you took since you last backed up. There is no foolproof way to recover everything once you start taking more notes or creating new documents or whatever that you do in an app unless you are syncing those notes with iCloud and backing up all of the time or unless the app is set to sync with iCloud as you work on the files - like in Pages, Numbers or Keynote - Apple's iWorks apps.
If you decide to restore from an iTunes backup you should turn off at sync before you try restoring because iTunes will want to backup your iPad right away when you plug it in and you will lose your old or last backup.

If I buy a book for my ipad , how can I get it to my wifes ipad so she can read it ?

If you share the same Apple ID she can download it again on her iPad in the Past Purchases Tab of the iBooks Store, just find the book in the purchased section and download it again.
If she doesn't use the same ID, you cannot share the book.

  • HT201272 If I purchases then deleted a book from my iphone, how do I get it back?

I I purchased, then deleted a book from my iphone, how do I get it back? When I click on Purchased, it tells me I have no downloads

If it's an ibook and it's still in the store then you should be able to re-download it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app. If it's an audiobook then they are currently a one-time only download - if you haven't got a copy of it on your computer or on a backup for re-syncing then if it's still in the store you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • The last time i synced/backed-up, my contacts on iphone are gone and address book is empty.  how can i get them back?

i have an old mac book os x version 10.4.11 and an old iphone 3g.  i've never had a problem syncing and backing up before, but the last time i did, it deleted my contacts on my iphone and my phone/address book entries on my mac book. any suggestions on how i can re-create?  and, why would it have "deleted" my info this time?  thank you for your help!!

OK. I signed into my Icloud account on my computer and just the basics
were there. My contacts, calendar. find my phone. No picture Icon.
In reading I had to Photo stream from my camera roll. It sounds like I
should just backup everything to Itunes in the future which saves everything.
I have a new device and will try to restore.
    Thanks.

  • It seems that some of my address book is missing. How can I get that back?

The address book looks different now. And some of my addresses are not there. How do I get them back?

It makes sense to save tabs/sites as bookmarks, maybe in groups as a folder so that you are able to open say 10 or so related tabs in one go. see also [/en-US/questions/910138#answer-296903]

Contact Microsoft support and ask for help.  You've paid for the kit, so installation-time support is part of the expectations.  They'll probably suggest a Repair Permissions and a Verify Disk pass, both performed by booting the installation DVD and using Disk Utility from the Utilities menu item, and selecting those two repairs.

  • I lost the books tab in itunes how do i get it back?

I use overdrive to listen to books.
the tab for books in I tunes is gone (it may have be caused by me)
    ANyway to get it back?

Thanks, but there's nothing in there I find that tells me how to get my Menu bar back. All of chatzilla's options are in the menu bar for any settings to be made. Without that, I have no hope of fixing what went wrong. I tried removing and reinstalling chatzilla, but that didn't work. My problem is that I lost the menu bar at the top of the chatzilla window. If I can't get that back, then I'll just have to deal with it until I'm able to buy a new machine, which I need anyhow. But being as this happened from something I did, there should be a way to undo what I did, or at least get back the menu bar.

  • When Web Publishing, how do I get dialog boxes to appear?

I am trying to make my Test Station software accessable from the engineers desk. I used LabVIEW version 6.1 to publish the main VI. I can, through Microsoft Explorer, access my VI and change enumerations. I need to allow the users to enter excel spreedsheet file names that contain the input data and expected results for the test. Currently my software uses the File Dialog to prompt the user for the file name. I also use Two Button Dialog and another VI's front panel to gather information at specific points during the test. The File Dialog box is the first one within the flow of the software and it does not work over the internet. Do you have any recommendations on how I might be able to allow the user to enter
a file name similar to the File Dialog?

The problem here is that the OS is bringing up the file dialog, but for
which computer? Asking computer B to show the directory structure of
computer A just doesn't work that well and it is also a potential
security lapse, so for these reasons, the VI Server doesn't do this by
    default for the remote panel.
To let the remote client pick a directory, you have a couple choices.
If you trust them and they are easy to type, you can just present a path
control partially filled in and let them type the last portion.
Another, more limiting approach is to use the file function to list out
a directory and populate a listbox with the contents. This is an easy
way to give less control to those that you may not trust as much, but
still give them something similar to a file dialog. Finally, if you
look around, you can find a more complete simulated file dialog. I know
that the older test executive had one. You won't have to change
anything as it will be running on the server and displaying on the
client, just what you are looking for. Perhaps you will want to look
around on develop zone for something like
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/explprog.nsf/6c163603265406328625682a006ed37d/893644426b21c704862567b700720c06?OpenDocument
which I haven't look at, so no promises, but there are probably others
    to choose from as well.

  • I lost my books purchased through itunes- how do I get them back?

I lost my books and don't know how to recover them. I paid over 50.00 for them and would like to get them back.

    Hi,
If you're using OS X Mavericks, the books are not included within iTunes anymore, they are in the iBooks application on the Mac.
If you're not using Mavericks, go to the iTunes store, click purchased, then find the books section and download them again

  • After the latest upgrades to the OS, I have lost several books in iBooks.  How do I get them back?

Any ideas on how to get lost books back on my iPad?  They show up on my iPhone 5, but not my iPad or iBooks on my Mac.

    Hey smseverino,
If the books are still available in the iTunes Store, you can use the same iTunes account they were originally purchased on to re-download them for free:
Downloading past purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store
