I appear very choppy and 1fps. But I can see and hear who i am connected to very well, no problems with me seeing or hearing the other end.
Is it my connection or their connection who is failing?

If you upgraded from Panther look at this thread
Add to the list the possiblility that the Ecamm apps PowerBoost and iGlasses may clash.
Also check you Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities).
Make sure the top drop down read All Processes
Check what is running above the DOCK.
iChat, iChatAgent and vcencoder are all part of iChat.
Look out for anything using more than 20% of CPU
Can some time be a stuck Print Manager.

After closing Firefox to use IE8 or any other program, everything is very choppy and slow. I have to go into Taskbar, Processes, and close firefox.exe manually (which is using up all the memory/CPU). Then, and only then, does everything behave normally. W

Sound very choppy and out of sync on videos. Fine when playing music

Whenever I try to play a video on iTunes I must use quicktime instead because the Audio makes it so unbearable. It becomes choppy and delayed by a few seconds. It almost pulses.
My audio is fine when I try to play music and fine on quicktime.
Anyone got any idea???

Songs play great, videos are choppy and warble but they play fine on QuickTime.

Recently, since upgrading to ver. 8.0.1, videos are extremely choppy, scrolling is choppy and loading pages is slug slow. I have a very fast quad core i7 processor and plenty of RAM & HD space.

Sometimes a video will start smooth but within moments it becomes very choppy and jumps from image to image. The browser itself does the same thing where it bogs down to a crawl and scrolling is also very choppy. Very frustrating. I have been using Firefox for years now since it first hit the scene, but until I upgraded to ver. 8 this did not happen.

PS CS3 - any action make 100% CPU and very choppy

I have PS CS3 on Win XP SP2, 2 GB RAM, nVidia geForce 8500GT with updated drivers. Until 2 days ago everything was perfect (smooth movement and action in PS CS3). Suddenly every move I make (draw a simple line, move or resize window, painting with paint brush etc) become very choppy and fragmentated and CPU raise instant to 100%. I uninstalled PS CS3 and reinstalled again, but with no luck. Any ideea about what is happening here? Thank you!
PS: Other programs like Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator etc work very nice and smooth with maximum 20-30% CPU usage.

What changed on your system (outside of Photoshop) around that time? Updates? New software? Changed settings?
Only regular stuff: most of them only updates for browsers, antivirus, firewall etc ... nothing related to photoshop
Did you change anything inside Photoshop (showing different palettes, change in prefs)? Especially check Photoshop's prefs for how much memory you allocated to it.
I kept my performance prefs exactly like 2-3 days ago when photoshop worked good and smooth.
What you're describing could be a video driver problem, or just VM thrashing (by the OS or Photoshop's scratch disk). But it's also possible it's due to some other factor inside Photoshop that didn't get included in your description.

Equium A110 - DVD picture and sound appear to choppy & scratchy

Hey guys, for the last couple of days when i insert a dvd/cd into my laptop and try to play it, the picture and sound both appear to choppy and scratchy. also when i try to copy and burn a dvd, it takes an eternity(2-3 hrs) whereas before it barely took 15 minutes.
Is there any way to correct such a problem?
And another question, I may want to try and restore the laptop to its "factory settings".

If you want to set the notebook to factory settings you have to recover the OS from the delivered Toshiba Recovery CD!!!! But be careful, the recovery procedure erases the whole HDD. Create a backup before start the installation from the recovery CD
Now something about the sound and video issue:
Maybe the ODD malfunctions, this is not impossible but improbably.
You notebook supports acoustic silencer application try to remove it.
But after recovery installation everything should run correctly... hopefully ;)

Problem:Imported video is choppy and then camera stops playing

I'm using a Sony DCR-HC96 connected to my Macbook, tried both Imovie HD and Imovie 08 and I have the same problem. When I try to import the video, the playback from the camera is very choppy, and after a few seconds the camera stops playing. If I just play the camera without importing, the footage is good. Sometimes the choppy-ness is right away and other times i will be able to import a few minutes and it starts again...
Addendum: Just realized I posted this in the Imovie 11 forum. My Bad, as the saying goes..I will post it in the Imovie 08 as well.

As the drive fills and you're going farther and farther into the disk it gets more and more problematic. When the drive is empty you're writing on the outer portion of the disc. The more it fills, the disk area gets narrower and narrower and slower and slower compared to the outer portion. USB drives that deliver information in bursts have more problems with this than drives that have sustained throughput like FireWire. For video, which requires sustained data delivery, this can be a problem. Depending on the computer and how full its drive is you can sometimes get better performance with DV capturing to the internal. It might be worth a try.

Firefox is incredibly choppy and sluggish on a new computer. Why is this happening?

I bought a brand new laptop a few weeks ago. For some reason, Firefox is very choppy and slow, especially when I'm scrolling on websites. I noticed there are more problems when I am websites with a lot of image/video content such as Facebook. The weird thing is, when I use other browsers, it seems to work just fine (no laggy UI, no choppy scrolling).
This problem is incredibly annoying and I have been dealing with it for the last few weeks. My guess is it has to do with Windows 8.1 - I'm ready to just give up after trying all other fixes. I have even started my browser up with all Add-Ons disabled. The issue is still there. The only add-on I am running is Adblock.

Very choppy movement

I have iMovie 8 and iMovie HD 6.03
Moving through a movie in iMovie 8 is awful - very choppy and jerky and is essentially unusable. The same movie in iMovie HD 6.03 moves back and forth smoothly with the mouse or arrow keys. What's going on?

You can try a SMC reset: power down the machine and restart holding left side shift, control, option. Press these keys before the start up chime, hold thru spinning gear.
You can also try a PRAM reset: Power down, restart holding option, command, p,r. Again hold keys before start up chime.

Rolling shutter repair effect for a 20 sec clip leads to choppy and disruptive replay of the film in the window above. What am i doing wrong ?.

i have pulled the rolling shutter repair effect (50%) onto a 20 sec clip. Afterwards the
replay of the clip in the window gets very choppy and unsmooth After 3 or 4 sec.

Since most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin, uninstall then reinstall the plugin > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS

- do you need more RAM? (run Activity Monitor and see how much free RAM - green - is available)
- do you Restart fairly regularly, e.g. at least once a week, to clear out any swap or temporary files?
- do you need to do maintenance, e.g. clearing out caches and unused logs, etc?

I have Adobe Elements 9 and I used to be able to export HD 1080p videos with no issue. But recently, when I export using H.264 MPEG or MPEG 2, which I normally used, the high resolution videos come out very choppy. How can i fix this?

Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.
